May I please speak on the Staff only thread, the one about The Number of Staff for a CRT?
If you think it won't be a good idea, I understand, but I just wanted to say there,
"As much as I'm certain that Ant's proposal is all in good faith, it lends itself to a problematic system.
Admins could easily throw their weight around in a CRT due to being valued more than Thread Moderators, and this isn't any sort of accusation towards any Bureaucrat's character (Nor any other Staff, as a disclaimer), but much the same could be done then- They could throw their weight around and dictate the direction of thread's and invalidate TM's and Admin's vote's.
And for the little people, those of us that are non-staff, I understand that giving us rights to vote on a CRT seems immensely ludicrous, and in a perfect system, it is, but trusting people to listen and be willing to change their mind just isn't enough with how our reality works. It would be far too easy to ignore the comments of a Non-Staff Member. Even someone who is considered very knowledgeable on a Verse could be brushed off in favor of whatever a potentially corrupt staff member may desire.
Again, I must stress, I am not accusing any staff member, I am only concerned that this system lends itself to a bigger gap between Staff and Normal Members, as well as between different kinds of Staff Members.
I implore you all to find a more effective alternative that respects the power that Staff have, but somehow also allowing the Normal Members a little more say than a few sentences and having to hope that someone listens to them, when the reality is that, well, a staff member very well may have no intention of listening at all.
Maybe even introducing a System wherein, by being Knowledgeable about a Verse, you could vote to a extent on threads involving said verse, that could help ease the tension's that would surely result, and make it less likely that people could end up abusing their power (Though this would ideally require some sort of deep examination of a person's knowledge before they could be considered Knowledgeable- I don't know if such a system is yet implemented, but it would be problematic if those with only minimal or no knowledge slipped through.), though admittedly I don't believe this is truely the most effective solution."
Sorry for the meaty message if you chose to read it, I just wanted to make sure with you that everything seems 100% ok. And if I'm not allowed to speak there, could you at least bring up the idea of Knowledgeable Members somehow contributing to a greater extent? I don't wish to burden you, but I do wish for this sentiment/idea to at least be brought into discussion.
Regardless, I apologize for bothering you, and hope that you have a good rest of your day.
