As many of you likely know, we have launched a Patreon subscription service, so our members can donate to help keep our forum sufficiently financed to continue, and would greatly appreciate help from our community and visitors who are willing to help us out.

To become an active supporter of our community, you should go to https://www.patreon.com/vsbattles and become a monthly member. After we have a sufficiently established presence at Patreon, we will also eventually get the ability to accept less expensive yearly subscriptions.

To show our appreciation for the people with member accounts who help our community in this manner, they will all receive an advertisement-free experience when browsing vsbattles.com as long as they continue to support us, and they will also receive personal blue "Supporter" badges below their usernames, similar to the ones for our staff members.

In order to do so, at Patreon, please choose one of the monthly subscription/membership tiers and use the exact same username as you use in the VS Battles forum.

We will not receive any personal information as long as you use an anonymous email address as your contact information combined with the same username that you use here, and we will only see that along with your membership tier. If you already have a Patreon account with your regular email address or real name, the account in question can easily be updated to use anonymous alternatives before you become a supporter for us.

If Patreon itself (we have not added this feature) asks you if you want to provide your real name and home address to us (that happened to me once), simply opt out of that part.

Here are the current benefits for our supporter tiers:
  • 2 Euros/Month: "Bronze Supporter": No displayed advertisements.
  • 5 Euros/Month: "Silver Supporter": No displayed advertisements. Twice as long forum signature texts.
  • 10 Euros/Month: "Gold Supporter": No displayed advertisements. Twice as long forum signature texts. A tastefully worded brief personal title.
  • 20 Euros/Month: "Diamond Supporter": No displayed advertisements. Twice as long forum signature texts. A tastefully worded brief personal title. An inoffensive image included in one's forum posts signature. The ability to use a bump button to place one's own discussion threads at the top of a forum up to three times a day for more attention and replies.

However, please be careful to not pay more money than you can afford.

For those who cannot support us financially, we of course appreciate if you accept our advertisements and contribute to the financing of our forum in that way instead.

Massive thanks in advance for any help.

Also, if I do not quickly notice that some members here have subscribed, please mention it here, so @AKM sama can add a badge and its benefits to your user profile.

We didn't develop all of our badge benefits until long after the previous thread had been posted, so it seemed like a good idea to more prominently inform our community about them.

The ability to use a bump button to place one's own discussion threads at the top of a forum up to three times a day for more attention and replies.
Confused on this part. Can't everyone do this?

Nope. People send the message to bump, this one is function. (an ability to do it without sending a message, automatically bumped)
That's a pretty bad feature since you can just do that for free with a little less laziness...

Do people in the thread even get notified?

If you bump a thread with a message the people who previously spoke in the thread will also see a notification for it.

No, I don't see any disadvantages, rather advantages because we won't see a thread full of “bump” spam, rather just bumping without those “spammy” bumps.
You get a notification, I assume. Plus, as I said, anyone who is interested in the thread, will check it regardless if it is bumped or not.
I saw as far 10 threads with 20+ bumps, do you really think people still interested in it? They will obviously unfollow it.

Anyway, it is derailing.

I don't believe me questioning one of the "benefits" is derailing, considering this is what they're expecting people to pay for.

In my eyes, I don't think that feature is really adding anything to the 20$ value of diamond supporter. It's something that you can already do without paying. Every message on a discussion also puts it back at the top. It isn't even just bumps.

Most of the time when I've bumped a thread normally, people have come back and new people joined. Interest just depends on the thread itself.

I would suggest adding something else to make diamond more worth it because ATM you're basically paying 10 extra bucks for the signature image feature. The bump thing doesn't add much.

Should @Chariot190 since atm that is our diamond supporter (I'll eventually get there myself) but yeah I'd like the benefits to be more worthwile as Phoenks is makings sense to me

As far as I am aware, the people who subscribe to a thread get notified by pressing the Diamond Supporter bump button, and it also avoids bump post spam, yes.

I initially suggested in our private discussion thread for our entire staff that we should start a Diamond Supporter request thread in our wiki management forum, in which each Diamond Supporter would be guaranteed staff evaluations for their own created content revision threads one or two times every month, but a few unnamed staff members put a stop to it by strongly arguing against the suggestion, so the alternative to be able to continuously keep their threads (any type of threads, not just for just content revisions) very visible up to three times every day without inserting many dozens of bump posts was the best alternative that I could come up with in lack of better options.

@Phoenks I mean, I suggested this and Ant already tried it with beta users if it sends notifications to other members. And it worked as far. It is better than spamming threads with “bump” messages all the time. Also, it is just an additional perk. Considering we have little perks (+ I am trying to find good perks for each donation), I don't assume this one is bad. ;-;

Yes, we ran out of options that were possible to apply in practice, so since my suggestion for a Diamond Supporters only guaranteed staff evaluations thread was rejected, this was the best perk that I could come up with as an alternative.

Ay, thanks for the nice words ^. I will try my best to think of any good, acceptable perks!

Thank you. They need to be realistic though, and you should mention them in our wiki management thread for wiki improvement suggestions.

@Chariot190

Have you used your bump button for any threads, and if so, has it worked the way that it should for you?

My brother waited from last friday and did not get benefits.

@Antvasima I am sorry to break you, but I barely even see AKM doing any duties. Can you handle those stuff instead?
I apologise. I have asked AKM about it again. He has been very busy IRL lately. 🙏 🙏 🙏

I am not good at or comfortable with technical issues, so AKM is the one who knows how to assign new badges, but I probably need to learn how to do this task, and just asked AKM to instruct me in this regard.

Again, my apologies for the inconvenience.

That Bump button works for what it's worth, think someone asked if it did or not.

But in a kind of weird way, it seems to do it by having the last post that was posted "repost", for example, the last dude who posted did so 5 hours ago, by using the button it now says he posted again and his post happened a moment ago, when that isn't true. It doesn't double post though and doesn't actually create a new post, but the mechanics behind it seems to be making the forum think that last post that happened is happening "now", instead of then. Which is to say it works and doesn't cause any issues, it's just a bit funny.

I want to ask Antvasima why there is no Indonesian currency I want to be a supporter vs battles but there is no Indonesian currency so I can't subscribe .

so how do i want to be a supporter vs battles
Unfortunately, you can't. At some point, I wish Vs battle Wiki support PayPal donation as they are pretty much efficient at many aspects, but I don't think there will be any in the future since if I am not mistaken, they don't support monthly subscription service. So they won't switch till then.

However, for people who want to support Vs Battle Wiki for single amount of money (send-request method), I assume the possibility should exist.

@Antvasima any ideas for this? Do you accept people donating money without subscribing?

Patreon already does support PayPal as a payment source. You just have to use a currency converter service first to find out how much of your local money that you would be donating.

See here for example:

https://www.oanda.com/currency-converter/en/?from=EUR&to=IDR&amount=2

Using PayPal directly would automatically publicly reveal the real identities of both the person donating and the person receiving a transaction though, so we will not use it.

I became a Bronze supporter two or three days ago but the badge was not added to my profile. I guess I was supposed to write here, right?
