DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

I'm just wondering how they're going to cover Joker's resistance to causality manip without spoiling the best twist in a 100+ Japanese videogame that the majority of Death Battle's viewership has not watched. Because let's just say I find it hard to believe that GER's causality manip outscales when
Azathoth/Maruki's ability to rewrite the causality of all of existence continuously, it isn't a one and done thing, Joker had to consent to having his willpower stolen (Maruki Palace deadline bad ending) and consent to having his causality and reality manipulated (So Happy World/Paradise/Maruki ending), this is all made evident within the story of the game explicitly even if you don't buy Outer Persona he still resists a REALITY WIDE continuous causality manipulation, they will have to spoil the entire game's story for that though

If Giorno wins it will be hilarious seeing the comparisons and it's just:

Joker
  • 3 octillion times stronger and durable and faster
  • Far more varied in moves
  • Resists/Nulls most of Giornos abilities
  • Cant bypass RtZ

Giorno
  • RtZ prevents instant loss
How does this part work?
  • Could revert Jokers will to 0 leaving him vulnerable
Isn't there some continuity snare associated with this part?

What specifically makes this Causality Manipulation?

Sorry if I'm being annoying or asking dumb questions. Stuff like Causality Manipulation, Law Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation are often shamefully hard for me to grasp.

1. Simple, if Joker literally does anything he can instantly kill Giorno but RtZ can revert to it before Joker throws the attack stopping Giorno's death.

2. Continuity snare?

Perhaps I should have asked why.
Or what are the mechanics? Just, RtZ can rewind any action someone else does unto Giorno, but not those not done onto him?
2. Continuity snare?
I recall seeing discussion in this thread about the Def to 0 thing being from a variant of Giorno in a defunct mobile game or something, which DB might not take as canon as such?

1. yes

2. I said reverting his will not his defense he is capable of reverting will to 0 canonically.
r/StardustCrusaders - Why are all of GER's stats none? Just what does 'none' mean in stand stats?

What does turning a person's "will" to zero even mean in this context? Will people affected by this lose all desire to fight and be left comatose? Isnt that just empathic manipulation? If Jonkler resists that it's gg then right

Noticed how characters in fiction push themselves to the limit, especially anime where hero is beyond messed up by a villain but still have will to keep going?

GER says "we dont do that here" and its going to 0

Spamton and Jevil now stomping most (if not all) their MUs now.

Honestly, why is Shenron playing favorites for regulars? Is it because he knows & trusts them?
But isn't the whole thing about the Shadow Dragons that too many wishes bad?
Plus, Bulma just being greedy & stuff?

Doesn't Spamton have Fawful as his most popular MU? I don't think he wins that one

I do understand this argument, but my main concern with using it in this fight is that even after two GER barrages Diavolo could still summon his stand and tried to fight back. Considering that and the fact that Joker was about to out-will gods of Control and other higher-level stuff I think it's a bit of a no-limits fallacy to say it can Will-to-Zero anything when it hasn't even shown any consistency with its written description.

It's kind of a fault of having only one showing against a single opponent, even as impressive as a showing it was.

Buddy all jojo villains get ended by punch rush, thats not an argument against a literal bio from manga

It says there will and actions go to zero, a barrage aint proof its not working, also if joker is resisting this, i wanna see proof of that, not that "oh he resists all haxes ever", its not nlf either, reality warping was the only thing beating it and thats in non canon stuff

Just because Giorno has the ability to revert will doesn't mean he used it against Diavolo, from what I recall he hasn't done it canonically the only time he has was in the non-canon Jorge Joestar novel against Pucci (at least that's what I've heard I cant find the scan unfortunately).
