Zoro fans manWhatever man
Zoro: Stops what's probably a High 6-B attack for a secondLol it's not our fault that Oda gives Zoro good feats (not insane feats, just good feats).
Lol I almost forgot about Hakai.Zoro: Stops what's probably a High 6-B attack for a second
Oda wanks Zoro.
We're not really being impatient on a personal sense. We're just having minor discussion on OP while we wait for 1044, it's basically filler content.Let's try to be less negative and more patient with each other here. We are all still fans of the world's arguably greatest (or at least most popular) ongoing comic book series.
I think he probably accepted it as fact the first time. But after seeing Luffy and everyone else fighting to free Ace, and even seeing Ace himself fight for freedom and fighting back, he probably saw hope in it all... something like that..Has the nerve to get angry at Akainu for killing Ace (which don't get me wrong was horrible), never mind that the ENTIRE POINT of Marineford was for the Marines to execute Ace. Like, would he have killed those 2 guys if they'd managed to behead Ace?
...Nah. Not buying it. You're probably right but to me it seems like a poor attempt at redeeming Garp for keeping Marco from saving Ace.I think he probably accepted it as fact the first time. No, Smoker and Fujitora are complex, Garp is just a massive example of what TV Tropes would call "Unintentionally Unsympathetic" IMOGarp = Complex OP character
Ok that’s fairNo, Smoker and Fujitora are complex, Garp is just a massive example of what TV Tropes would call "Unintentionally Unsympathetic" IMO
I mean, he never does ANYTHING about the massive corruption in the entire World Government.Ok that’s fair
He actually does. He just isn’t punished because of all the good he’s done for the marines.I mean, he never does ANYTHING about the massive corruption in the entire World Government.
What does he do to actually fight the World Government's corruption and the abuse done by the World Nobles? He actually does. He just isn’t punished because of all the good he’s done for the marines.
Speaking the truth.Garp = Complex OP character
Disobeyed their order to capture LuffyWhat does he do to actually fight the World Government's corruption and the abuse done by the World Nobles?
Thats....actually a big brain move if that happenPpl saying Joyboy luffy gonna defeat Kaido when the one and only hasn’t even awakened yet. Anime rules clearly dictate that the one who powers up last wins. Luffy bout to get mopped again, the raid will fail, and we will follow Kaido’s POV thereafter. Trust.

TchIf Kaido wins this I'm gonna flip since that means 1.5 more years of Wano and I'm honestly sick of this arc.
Che Guevara did some horrible things IRL. He is a false hero, whereas Dragon seems to be the real deal in genuinely fighting for freedom and human rights.Garp is what I would consider a liberal ... He is a person who sees immense systemic corruption and abuse but still naively believes in the overall value of the system itself ... Garp thinks, like many liberals IRL that you could just change the people at the top of the system and convert it into a force for good. In many ways, he is a conservative because he isn't really bothered by the hierarchy of power that has been set up, but he just wishes the people on the top were more empathetic and less shitty. For someone like Garp, the priority is always harm-reduction and incrementalism
In contrast, Dragon is a revolutionary (a very Che Guevara-type figure) and Luffy is an ideological libertarian
PS: Everything I wrote about Garp here equally (if not moreso) applies to Sengoku
The politics of One Piece (in general) and the Monkey family in particular, are surprisingly well thought outAs a mixture of left libertarian and anti-totalitarian democratic socialist, I agree about Garp and Luffy though. Oda has accurately diagnosed some of the real world's worst problems and efficiently reflected them in a high fantasy adventure setting.
Yeah, Bleach is a very "protect the status quo and solve problems internally" kind of story. From what I have heard, that seems to be the dominant ideology in Japan - which is very fitting with the completely traditional Japanese setting of Soul SocietyOne Piece is kind of the ideological opposite of Bleach, as it is about fighting for hope, joy, freedom, and friendship, whereas Bleach is about fighting for thoroughly corrupt, nihilistic, and mirthless authoritarianism and social-Darwinism.
