DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Asura surprisingly doesn't really resist a whole lot, he's got soul resistance and the basic resistance to outer space conditions like anyone who's been in space with no protection gets but beyond that nothing, Kratos could petrify him and absorb his life-force and stop time (Honestly a missed opportunity from the devs to not have a cool scene of Asura breaking out of Chakravaritins time stop). Issue is convincing people Kratos would even land any of it in the first place. Getting him to cosmic levels is one thing, but like tipper said there's not really a good way to explain Kratos being quadrillions of times ftl without looking insane.
Arguing he outhaxes seems to be easier than arguing he overpowers him. Maybe they can just say Kratos is just too durable or has a lot of endurance and then he can outhaxes Asura. I mean, they had Omni-Man beat Bardock even though they put Bardock thousands of times faster. (Main problem of the matchup was the Sun Disk).

It doesn't help outside briefly using Icarus' wings and Hermes' footwear, Kratos isn't known to be a very mobile or agile character, good luck convincing normies and even certain other Vs debaters he's climbing upon large monsters, traversing mountains and rowing boats at MFTL to Infinite speeds.

Don't get me wrong, I think GoW ratings here are serviceable and the fact there's even a popular distinction between gameplay Kratos and lore Kratos (like they're two different characters) is pretty stupid tbh. But from DBs perspective it's an unenviable task trying to convince the potential naysayers (feats Vs statements is the ultimate MU).

I mean they did that for Dragonborn v Undead

Honestly Kratos struggling with Atla's fingers and Asura blowing up Wyzen who was bigger than the planet is likely more than enough for casual audiances (And let's be real, like half of the vs community as well) for the latter to win.

Dragonborn vs Undead also had the benefit of having their actual feats not making a difference in the results. Discounting lore would've still ended in the DB winning which is why they brought it up alongside the lore, no matter what the results were clear.

Kratos vs Asura is literally just lore vs feats, Krato's best showings aren't even comparable to Chapter 1 Asura without lore so it'd be a harder pill to swallow for just his lore to get him the win.

Looking over the high-end Kratos Lore™️ speed arguments this is actually strangely blatant

Assuming they're consistent with their standards Kratos is probably taking speed since Dragonborn got Infinite speed Lore™️

i always thought he did in those boss battles
There is diff speeds, if one is faster in travel but other in reaction, unles latter is too slow, they should react to the former
im aware but this isn't a game kratos is taking given this is asura we're talking here

Kratos has hax with Greece weps, not sure if Norse hax only is enough.
Base powers still has the immortality neg + absorbing powers

Norse weapons give him space-time manipulation, curses, stuns, attack negation + redirection + reflection, sound manipulation, poison manip, sealing, more absorption (with added resistance negation), with Asura MAYBE resisting his soul/mind/memory/probability/concept manip due to a technically since you could argue his limited soul resistance is applicable there

He also just has Seidr and Bifrost magic which adds its own list of abilities

Travel speed =/= reaction speed

Thats like saying usain bolt and bruce lee are equally as fast, when the two are fast in two different speeds here

Dragon ball has low flight speed in their profiles, very low, compared to their reactions and all

I mean there ain't much for super absurd reaction speed on par with Asura with Kratos without looking kinda crazy, most people ain't gonna be accepting that Kratos has literal infinite speed reactions and combat speed because an artbook called the underworld infinite.

Well even if it's taken, they could get Asura to the same ballpark if they interpret the Naraka feat a certain way.
