I have finally been peeved enough into making this thread as this part of the SBA, under mindset, has been the bane of versus battles for like two years and I can’t believe it hasn’t been changed yet. “Each character will view their opponents as enemies, who they have to assume wish to cause...
So while debating a thread involving Princess Peach, there is something that was brought up about one clause.:
"Each character will view their opponents as enemies, who they have to assume wish to cause them severe harm such that losing could have any range of dire consequences. The characters...
Okay, so regarding the SBA, it is currently written as such:
"Starting distance: The characters start as far away from each other as the highest range of the fighters is."
While the intended purpose is to separate combatants as far as possible, at the same time, putting someone like Phoenix...
Our Standard Battle Assumptions page currently says:
I still think this leaves too much room as is. I suggest a reword to this:
I added the words "supernatural abilities", and removed the words "psychological tricks".
As far as I know, SBA is a rule that brings out the strongest version of each character.
if there is a character who gets certain feats but in limited conditions, does that mean those feats can be used continuously?
*Sorry for my bad English
This has been bothering me and other people for awhile, but it's rather simple and hopefully not controversial.
Standard Battle Assumptions
Characters shouldn't be considered willing to kill by default, as this very notion is a contradiction:
State of mind: In character, but willing to kill...
In Standard Battle Assumptions, when it comes to a character having their vehicles (especially large ones) as standard equipment (IE. Cars, Planes, etc), if nothing is specified as to where their vehicle is, would we assume they have it with them albeit a few meters apart, or would they already...
"incapacitating the opponent by putting him in a state in which he can not harm the other fighter(s) for over a day"
1.Does it mean attacking someone for a day and doesn't give them a chance to counter attack is counted as incap ?
2.Does it mean when character face a opponent with fast...
Currently the verse equalization note says:
I think this wording is prone to misinterpretation in that people may think that strictly a statement is required to establish a weakness or limitation of any ability. While writers don't always rely on direct statements and rather focus on showing...
This is abit of a weird question which I don't think will become relevant often but still, would be good to know.
When we equalize speed, do we lower the faster character's speed to match the slower character? Or do we increase the slower character's speed to match the faster character?
"Victory Conditions: Death of the opponent, removing the opponent from the battlefield for at least one week (BFR), knocking the opponent out for at least one hour, or incapacitating the opponent by putting him in a state in which he can not harm the other fighter(s) for over a day, are to be...
This is just something that came to my mind and that I'm wondering about now. Do we usually assume that characters can understand and communicate with each other even if they speak different languages? I imagine that something like that would be for example relevant for characters with Social...
So as well know and have seen time and time again, "Speed Equalization" has been a popular term within the wiki and our various matchups, and is used quite often to make matchups more fair.
However, there are times when speed equalized can be confused or convoluted, such as in the case of...
Low 7-B versions are used
Speed is Equalized
And... Nen Crush is restricted, for obvious reasons.
I know this match probably won't be added due to restricting stuff, but I just wanna how this fight goes =p
Ozpin : 0
Meruem : 3
This shit thread better not die.
https://vsbattles.com/threads/minor-addition-adding-speed-equalized-to-standards-battle-assumptions.108594/#post-3373360
Since lots of staff showed dislike to the idea in general and the thread got closed might as well have a dedicated thread for it
Personally I'd support discouraging it rather...
Ok so, this should be relatively simple.
99% of the matches on the forums, are Speed Equalized, which annoyingly have to be specified each time because they aren't stated in SBA.
So just, add it to SBA already :V
It recently came up in a thread and I feel like this is some small important detail, that's easy enough to fix.
So currently the SBA states that "The fighters will have absolutely no prior knowledge of each other. " The problem with that is, that it basically prevents a proper fight from...
(I tried doing this on the old forum but was told to come to staff discussion here once CRTs were allowed)
A lot of characters have abilities on their pages listed under a "possibly". Under SBA they're assumed to have these since characters are at their strongest, but can these be restricted...
Let's just hope this doesn't turn into a shitfest or a stomp.
Both In-character
6A Rimuru and 6B Ainchase is used.
Web Novel Rimuru is used.
Speed Equalized
Slime:
Sad void boi: 1
If it turns out to be a stomp, then use 2-B versions.

Lately, something has been bugging me about how servants from Fate/ are handled. The masters are completely ignored. In-universe, a servant generally has a master (the summoner), and cannot survive without them or another supply of mana. The maintenance also has a range limit, so we can't put...
Heya. So... While one in the US would probably be considered "living under a rock" for not knowing what Central Park is, I think this might help with foreigners. Even then, it's better to ask. Assuming we combine Central Park's location with the maximum allowable SBA distance, we got the...

Standard Battle Assumptions defines just about every setup condition that can be normally added to a debate. So, what's it's definition of Prep Time, anyways?
Preparation time: None. That means there is no time between the character knowing there is going to be some battle and the point...
Brought up here, we have discussed if battle conditions such as the one presented by the OP should be allowed. Where one character is granted an extreme advantage for the sake of "making the fight even".
(fight starts with cancer already in raphtalia´s body.)
I believe it shouldn't, because...
About speed equalization in vs matches. Let's put it like this: one character is Relativistic and the other is, let's say, Superhuman.
The thing is, about speed equalization. I think it should be specified to what speed we are equalizing the characters to. About the previous instance, let's say...
I want to talk about an issue regarding the interaction of the SBA and Type 9 Immortality (or similar abilities).
According to the Standard Battle Assumptions Characters start at most 4 km away from each others.
That means the characters themself are within that range. Not just a drone they...
I've been informed recently of two things that I'd like clarification on: processing delay is not 0.5, but 0.1 for normal people, much less Hypersonic fighters, and this is not covered under Verse Equalization. Thoughts?
I've had this debate a few times, and unless I'm missing something it doesn't explicitly say either way in SBA. Is there considered to be people in Central Park or any of its surrounding areas? This can greatly impact matches where characters may hold back or be exploited due to morals (e.g...
Hey there. So... I have a question. Should one account for optional equipment in SBA, or is it standard equipment only? Primarily asking because nobody really brought it up before.
