DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Guilty Gear isnt using like MK a chapter system where one character you play as beats others, which is why inconsistencies exist and PIS
Remember in MK11 it was established that if you hit the past version of yourself it would then transfer to the present character, but then one of the chapters had Johnny Cage fighting his past self. How does that work?🧍🏻

I’ve been saying this for years, but MK writing is horrible. Not even in a vs setting it’s just plain shit.
MK is like the Marvel/DC of fighting games, the writing is inconsistent

Funny Tekken and Street Fighter run as long or longer then Mortal Kombat, but have more consistency with their feats and scaling

Stop hitting yourself vibes lol

Ok tbf in that one instance it was just a normal fight, it's not like present Johnny was inflicting permament damage or any wounds so bad that they would last the 20 odd years they'd need to in order for him to instantly feel them in that instance, rest of the story is blegh tho.

Add the fact Netflix botched the handling of part 6 anime and we haven't gotten anything for the franchise since didn't help matters
Netflix had to make sacrifices to "win" the streaming wars, tho it sucks that both several animes and other shows got cucked as result (Sonic Prime's 23 episodes getting artificially turned into 3 "seasons" across almost one year was pretty egregious) and not to mention subscriptions becoming less worth it, with increased prices plus stricter sharing practices on top of other services having ads now.

Yet more reason to sympathize with animators, imagine working in an exhausting environment where without warning all your time and effort is wasted with a sudden cancellation due to the release being sabotaged?
Death battle should’ve gave Joker that outerversal scaling, then viciously and graphically describe how bad Joker beat Giorno
Yikes! Though feasibly DB would never do that since the outcome still needs to be easily understandable for casual audiences plus that kinda borders GvS2 NLF territory.

Was it even like this during the Midway era cause even if there were hiccup's there it ain't as bad as we got it in the nether realm era
There wasnt a chapter system like how they do recently, when that became a thing with cinematic story modes it got into inconsistencies, really shouldnt dedicate a whole chapter to one character that beats others simply cuz they are the main character for that one time

Midway era was arcade runs and open world type like SF6 does now

I really like what we see from the analysis from the preview. I hope this quality keeps up in Eggmans next week.

3 min long preview and they've already done a way better job than their entire analysis of him in Bowser vs Ganondorf lmao, also damn I don't talk about this enough but the editing for these episodes is top tier.
No joke: I think Bowser vs Eggman's shaping up to be one of the best episodes in Death Battle's whole duration of existence. Like just the small bits of animation we've gotten from the Kickstarter trailer and the previews have convinced me that this is going to be peak.

All they need to do is not downplay Eggman and not have Bowser win through wonky arguments and this could become a universally liked episode.
