Most likely, since the author had an another similarly "matriarchal" fanfic and said that this fanfic is a collection of erotic thoughts (very messed up ones though).

Well, in terms of the current seasons, I think it's doing better. Volume 7 and 8 were p good, but the others...not so much.

It's a matter of taste and preference actually. For example, a joke that makes you laugh may not make me laugh. This is the same case.
Sadly, i was introduced to RWBY through these fanfictions first, and then watched the web series. I feel that RWBY is a "faker" of anime , and i find the characters really annoying. Basically it is completely not my type.
However, there are two charaters in RWBY i DO like- jaune (At my first years in school, i was a loser, so i can relate to jaune) and Ozpin (Sometimes given tasks that you have no chance of being able to do.).

However, I have a feeling that you're not wrong. In that other fanfic with "femdom/bdsm/fantasy stuff", the author outright said they self-projected into the male character of such contents, so it's probably a male (or somehow a female imagining themselves as a male?) with twisted fetishes. XD
