Touhou Discussion Thread 3 ⌈Eternal Fantasy Edition⌋

Also new Bad Touhou Manga just dropped and well Flandre's here ig how did she get past the barrier. Reimu also knows about Mizuchi apparently

Also she doesn't seem to be weak to sun, but I think that's already been stated before?

Honestly I thought Marisa was suprised because it was Mima but I guess we already have Mizuchi so

Marisa seems like she's having a rough week.

also im of the controversial opinion that CDS is overall really good, it's just that spreading out a story like this over monthly installments is a bad idea

Yeah, the reason why mangas that release a new chapter every month instead of on a weekly basis suck is because you gotta wait a long time for it to get good. I remember everyone and their mother hating on the Moro arc of DBS when it was still ongoing, but everyone thought it kicked ass once it finally concluded and they were able to read all of the chapters. I'm guessing CDS will be the same.

And then Granolah arc came in 💀

Interesting. It seems Mizuchi was possessing Byakuren the entire time. And casted a barrier. I wonder who she possessed next? Shou and Nazrin are my suspects. Though I wonder why Flandre came out of nowhere just to attack Marisa? The next chapter might reveal it but I think Mizuchi manipulated some strings to make Flandre fight. Maybe as a distraction.

I've been following this Twitter artist for a while and I think y'all should do the same. They redraw Touhou girls in the same poses and clothes as they have in the games. Their work is impressive, it's like candy to the eyes. That being said, their art reminds me of Pokemon, I'm not sure why.

Unrelated but I really want to write a fight scene. Mostly Marisa vs the Terrarian because I've been daydreaming about that matchup for a while. Maybe I'll write the Terraria x Touhou fanfic I was talking about nearly a day ago just as an excuse to write a Marisa vs the Terrarian fight scene. Who knows? Here are the ideas I had.

1) The fight starts when they loot each other's houses, they fly to their homes afterward with their witch brooms and then they cross paths. They notice their opponent stole items from them so they fight to get them back.

2) A scene where Marisa makes a remark about the Terrarian's witch broom and then banters about how her broom is better and starts showing off the abilities of her broom through the fight.

3) A scene where the Terrarian deals a lot of damage with the 200% damage reflection of her Turtle armor but after a while, Marisa deactivates the effect by taking off the Terrarian's helmet which disables the set bonus of damage reflection

4) A scene where Marisa uses her broom and the Terrarian uses her Terra Blade or Starlight to have a melee fight. The Terrarian has the advantage.

5) The Terrarian manages to stay with more healthy throughout the fight with her numerous healing potions and regeneration items.

6) A scene where Marisa prevents the Terrarian from healing by breaking her healing potions before she manages to drink them. That starts to turn the tables.

7) A scene where the Terrarian gets disarmed but she just switches to other weapons.

8) A scene where Marisa disarms the Terrarian leaving her with no melee items and then Marisa pummels the Terrarian in hand-to-hand combat

9) A scene where the Terrarian shoots Marisa with the Water bolt but Marisa heals with her water absorption

10) A scene where Marisa blinds the Terrarian by throwing dirt at her eyes or by turning her helmet around yet the Terrarian still fights like normal due to his ability to fight while blindfolded

11) (I mentioned this before) A scene where they have a beam clash between the Last Prism and Marisa's Mini-Hakkero BUT the Terrarian starts winning the beam struggle until she gets mana sickness due to auto-drinking too many mana potions which weakens her beam and she gets overwhelmed. The Terrarian equips a defensive setup along with knockback immunity accessories and travels right through the Master Spark just to disarm Marisa or break her Mini-Hakkero

Now that I noted down my ideas I noticed the Terrarian dominated the fight through most of my imagination. Bummer. If I ever make this into a written fight I will make it closer choreography-wise. Mostly just make Marisa dominate the long-distance and hand-to-hand segments while the Terrarian dominates when she's close and uses her melee weapons.
Use Yharim.

Touhou Wiki claims that "Who's Who of Humans & Youkai in Gensokyo" is not going by the Touhou definition of divine spirit but rather using the wider Shinto definition of the term (only with Keiki and Hecatia) thus implying that they were born as gods and never human to begin with.
Do you guys happen to know any scan to confirm this?

That's kind of a can of worms that idk if I have the answer to rn. It's a little complicated since we don't know what kind of divine spirit SCoOW considers them as.

I swear, god physiology is the most controversial part of this fandom
I get dizzy the moment I read something about divine spirits
Have ben digging through so much god stuff that I accidentally misread your name as Mad God of Fujiwara
And I think I'm even beginning to doubt if divine spirits have a nameless form,
or that tsukumogami have a "true form (abstract idea)" aside from Aunn.

Slowly descending into madness...

Well, tsukumogami are still gods, so there's no reason why they wouldn't have a nameless form. IIRC, the nameless form is what inhabits the inanimate object before being turned into a god/tsukumogami.

Divine spirits can have nameless forms, yes. They are simultaneously humans who have become gods, a god's essence spread across reality, and a god's unnamed state (and that's just the start, if Suwako, Keiki, and Hecatia are anything to go by).

But yeah, I totally get divine spirits being a controversial and confusing topic. The series doesn't explain this concept super concisely.

I agree, tsukumogami should still have a nameless form for the same reason. What I meant by "true form" was their abstract funny infinite split form. An object is inhabited by a divine spirit only if the spirit has chosen a concept that revolves around that object, I think, such as Aunn
(or maybe that sake god that was mentioned in CoLA iirc).

As for divine spirits not having a nameless form, I'm not sure at all.

Every off-species of gods have an original form to return to in case they lose all their faith
Such as myriad gods turning into their nameless form, or arahitogami turning into a human.
However just as arahitogami originate from a human, divine spirits originate from souls of the deceased
Meaning upon loss of faith they shouldn't have a nameless form to retract.
Which is backed up by how myriad gods die after losing faith (death=returning to nameless form in this case)
but unlike myriads, divine spirits will just "extinguish"
(tbh I don't get wth its trying to say in that scan, english skill issue ig??).

Which I don't really like because my bbg Hecatia is on the line

I thought Hecc wasn’t a goddess because of any sort of divine spirit business but because she just calls herself that due to beating up everyone else in hell?

Unrelated but I dislike Touhou SFM videos a lot.

It's always a pre-existing joke or story where they just swap the characters with Touhou characters. LAZY AS HELL!!! Am I supposed to laugh at it simply because the person who pulled a comically large spoon is Yuuma instead of King Bach? No!
