DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Hopefully I hear fewer people talk about Kratos after this episode. The deed is done, Ghost Rider and Spawn are more interesting.

Also, it seems alternate scenarios and alternate endings are gonna just be like, a new mainstay ying for future episodes? I don't mind that tbh. I quite like it.
I know right? I imagined DevilArtemis had made a what if scenario given what he mentioned in twitter. Granted there weren't any "what if Asura/Kratos did this or use that" to animate like in Bowser vs Eggman, but an alt ending was pretty cool and all. Next fights using the animation for possible outcomes and such would be pretty dope.

If they end up letting Kratos scale to the insane LS feats that were in the Greek saga (I bet they won't), I'm going to be mad disappointed if there isn't a scene of Kratos pushing back Asura's finger once he enters his Destructor form. To say that would be a missed opportunity wouldn't even explain it.
Called that shit les go baby 😭🙏🙏 episode was absolute cinema

I thought this episode was gonna be peak fiction, but it ended up just being good. Death Battle NEEDS someone to help with the 3D choreography, it desperately needs it.

I should’ve known I put my hopes too high when DevilArtemis clarified that the episode was actually gonna be 6 minutes and not 9. I can’t even tear into it because it isn’t even a bad episode, but it could’ve been so much better.

Honestly, I'm glad they don't resort to Low 1-C, 1-B or High 1-A levels, because for me it's always been something that breaks the balance when trying to measure the strength of the characters.

I have nothing against the verdict, but the match itself, in my opinion, was just boring. Is this what we've been waiting for for two months?
Beginning their battle was completely incomprehensible, but the battle itself... It's not Asura and Kratos.
We all expected that the two dads would FURIOUSLY SCREAM RAGE THROUGHOUT THE FIGHT, TAKE DEADLY BLOWS, RISE UP, OVERCOME, DELIVER FATAL BLOWS, SCREAM, SCREAM AGAIN AND DESTROY ANY OBSTACLES IN THEIR PATH!
But... It's like there's no dynamics in the battle. I understand that the new Kratos is much more calm, but they could take a younger version of him, which is stronger and would be better suited by temperament. But even in the new games, Kratos showed his anger and rage, while in this match he is on tranquilizers and antidepressants.
Kratos also uses only 3 weapons, resorting to the Sword of Olympus only at the end, also without using any hax. I don't understand why the hell he needs a spear in this match.
They could reveal Asura's unstoppable rage and his anger pushing him beyond limits. Does Kratos freeze Asura like in a match? Asura breaks out of the ice. Kratos uses Medusa's head and turns Asura into stone? Asura forces herself to move. Is Kratos using Zeus' gloves and Poseidon's Artifact to attack Asura with lightning? Asura absorbs it and becomes stronger. Is Kratos stopping time? Well, you get it. ****, THIS COULD BE INSANELY BADASS. But they also didn't show Asura's final form.

It's hard to believe that I've been waiting for this for a couple of months.

However, I must admit that the alternative ending corrects the situation a bit. Not to say that she completely covers all the flaws, but this is exactly the Asura I expected to see. And it's not that this version has a different outcome, but that this is the character I know.
It is for the presence of an alternative ending that I am ready to shake their hand firmly.

About the next match. It's just cool. I hope they perfectly convey the atmosphere of the nineties and the Gothic style.

And I still hope to see Baki vs Ohma, Kaneki vs Eren and Isaac vs Gordon in this show...

I said it in the past Kratos vs Dante would have been better matching for Kratos for animation potential

Its hard to pull a melee brawler vs weapon based fighter

I think because I had no expectations, I was able to enjoy the episode a lot more than I had hoped.

I agree DA needs to take a break from DB and allow new animators to come and showoff their skills, like Dillon Goo, Mark Zheng, Narmak, OmegaMech, or a complete unknown

Bring in Bob Dylan coach! /s

Perhaps, but it would've been a lot more direct since Kratos actually fought Thor and stuff ya know?
Considering that DB used the 3-A and not the Low 1-C route, shaking an structure with the size of a multiverse (Without counting 4D shit) would be far less impressive than outright "containing" a force that would destroy it.

For the sake of comparison, shaking our observable universe is only 4-A

I think another issue is that Asura, from what I get, doesn't have much variety in his abilities outside martial arts, so there wasn't the possibility of him and Kratos trading different powers on each other.
