DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Is there a future DB that could get Omni-Man vs Bardock-esque reception?
So, it would have to be a wrong verdict based on very shaky and bad interpretation on a questionable feat that normally is a massive outlier, contradicts another actual major story feat and on top of that they then use another frankly biased method to support it.

Universal Cell beating sub-uni Metal Sonic unironically came to mind

Off-topic, it seems like the default theme for the forum changed from light to dark.
I was quite jarred & confused when blue turned purple.

The sun disk shit is just dumb for multiple reasons even on the basis on the narrative

Needed three Viltrumites and a space gun to destabilize a planet that has 1.25 Earth's gravity and while bigger than earth nothing states how much in comparison
Space racer Gun having no problems one shotting multiple Viltrumites like hot butter same gun that pierce thru planets and stars
Thragg stating 37 Viltrumites are enough to tear the earth apart
Thragg and Mark getting ****** up by the heat of a star same Thragg who Literally tore thru Nolan moments ago

Star level invincible relys crossover scaling on supreme who power alters depending on who he fights and omnipotus who literally potential man everything else is just laughable for any form of legitimacy

I never properly read Invincible so a Q here, who is Space Racer? Why does federation struggle with Viltrumites but this one space biker dude has a gun that pew pews Viltrumites no problem?

Nolan trapped him and seperated him from his gun and as to why they have problems well said gun can be used by space racer and as powerful it is viltrumites are still fast and can dodged if they got the heads up

Pondering, should indie DB try to now return to certain verses, that have only been used once or few times?

Couple years back there was glamour to introduce new verses, and last two years they've done pretty well. But evergreens and new verses left some verses stagnated, like Digimon SoL. Maybe now would be good time?

Good thing this Wiki realized that Invincible being anywhere near Planet is laughable.

Rn here they're Small Planet, but even that is questionable tbf.

Pet peeve:

DB fans kinda forget that the point of a Death Battle is the debate, they repeat in literally every video that the reason behind the existence of it is "we'll find out who would win".

MUs should have at least some degree of being debateable, regardless of how popular it is. This is why Gohan vs Invincible or Alastor vs Black Hat are bad, because they're literally just slaughters, where's the exact fun?

Thematics, connections, animation potential? Cool, but there's fanfiction.net for that, and most of the time the "plots" DB gives for the fight to happen are pretty stupid. Gohan and Invincible having a lot in common does not mean that their hypotetical fight somehow becomes entertaining, it's literally Gohan one-shotting the whole verse through breathing too hard.

And to clarify: By "stomp MU" I mean stuff where X objectively just stomps Y so blatantly that everyone agrees with the winner, stuff like Alucard vs Dio or Goku vs Superman which were indeed debated by many on the other hand is ok because it has the "holy shit it's such a controversial fight" sparkle that people are attracted to.

Yes I know Omniman vs Homelander or Spongebob vs Aquaman are good, but there the spite is implied and made blatant, so these get a pass.

I get what you mean and is not wrong
However I say mainly boils down to visual wise not just stats
Can you envision loser doing shit to the winner

New versus blog

I can ignore lack of debate, if its MU that DB has not done in any way to prove is not debatable in prior episodes, and/or if the MU is obvious one they havent done yet. Ofc at this point in DB's 14th+ year, they have done most big ones anyways.

Gohan vs Invincible sucks cause Mark is a brick and they already did basically the same fight with NolanBardock :V

There shouldn't be a need of a debate if it's obvious as hell who wins though lol

Ngl, I don't mind "stomp MU" as long as the thematics, connections, and animation potential outweigh it being a stomp. For example, Omni-Man VS Homelander is a stomp match but the thematics and character interaction of the mu are what made it a fun mu that peeps wanted, along with the two just being really popular characters at the time. On the other side of things there's Gohan vs Invincible which also has thematics and potential for interesting character interaction if done right but suffers as a mu because it such a big stomp it outweighs the things the mu has going for it.

You worded what I meant better than how I said it.

Having a potential for good character interaction doesn't mean being a good MU, I meant this, I just didn't know how to type it.
