DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Superman bros, we are so ******* back. Color, in a superhero film????

Been a hot minute since I felt truly excited for a CBM

Snyder chuds complaining it’s too colorful already
One of my biggest complaints about the MoS suit, aside from missing the trunks, is how dull it looked, the colors were washed out. The blue was more of a gray to black color, the red was starting to turn to a rose color, and the yellow was white.

what ever happened to black superman? genuine question, since I been hearing about this from a couple years ago
If you mean Val-Zod, the 2nd Earth-2 Superman of the New 52, then I'm not sure? There hasn't been any news of cancelation, so its probably being kept quiet about to not stir confusion or pull attention to one another. Hopefully WB doesn't pull a WB, Val-Zod was cool in the comics.

Gunn is probably gonna try to beat the Invincible Gary Stu-Man allegations lol
Actually, I think there's more going on here than what meets the eye. Perhaps Supes was attacked by someone or something that's weakened him, cause there's no way that he would need a charged up punch to break out of a box of glass. Perhaps Lex did some Lex things, and now Supes needs to persevere more on top of the civilians hating him for some reason.

Either that or this is a more golden age take on him.

You know what I like? Villains that can basically never win. Like, a villain who the hero can fully overpower, but is still kind of a threat. Like, uh... Powerplex from Invincible, or Bellamy from One Piece.

They're probably my second favorite level of villain behind villains that grow over time, like Sasuke or Garou.

Hell, even MCU Abomination managed to entertain me a bit as a kid by doing both of these things.

Hope they do some stuff with those tropes in the new verse.

Wouldn't that cause the other side of the fandom to complain that Superman is being too flawed and not strong and ideal enough?
I can see some people complaining but Superman struggling like hell against his rivals is honestly more comic accurate than what Snyder did.

Snyder Superman no-diffing the Justice League Saitama-style in base form was kinda problematic writing-wise.

Honestly IDK how ya can make cooler for a DB because movie wise he got ****** up and had to rely on the big gete star in the second film

Ya have to outright use heroes to make him work somewhat

Yeah, I see what you mean. But even when only Man of Steel was released, there were criticism over Superman's perceived weakness there, like him being troubled and lost, his lack of finesse with his abilities, having had to kill Zod, in general, not being super strong, in control and a paragon superhero. This is despite that the movie was, imho, how Clark Kent was struggling to find his footing before he eventually would grow into the Superman everyone knows. Though the bleak tone of Dawn of Justice and the Justice League didn't help, if you ask me.

Legitimately, this might just be because they want Superman to be some flawless, bland "HOO-RAH!" strongman that's just born superior to everyone else because they get absolutely rock-solid imagining it being them.

Does Blackfire even have any herald scaling at all?
She has scaling to Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Hawkwoman, Jade (a Green Lantern character), Starro (a Justice League villain), and Starfire. Breaking Nth metal is also a Herald lvl feat.

Starfire has scaling to Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl.

Overall it's pretty obvious Blackfire is getting Herald scaling if she makes it on the show.

That sure is a lot of solar system tiers. :V

I mean technically but she's the lower end of herald stuff. Like when people write her and her sister they go "yeah they're pretty strong and should be like around most other supers who fly around and way above street tier character" rather than anything that impressive in their own right. Like Starfire and Blackfire is a herald tier character in the same way Spider-Man are mid weight marvel characters. They're put into categories in a "yeah that looks about right" sorta way rather than like anything really that impressive on their own.
