DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Will say, one of my favorite bits in the animation was a small moment at the beginning where Bowser commands his army to attack. He does a little eye look as if he's doing role call to make sure everyone's accounted for and listening, kinda gave dad vibes as opposed to a more confident general look if he had just pointed and started brawling

You know after this episode, and assuming they didn't need extra time to finish stuff up, I have a question that's been on my mind for the last hour:

Who thought that Omni-Man vs Bardock was the episode to start off the new era of Death Battle compared to Bowser vs Eggman? Like the difference in quality between the episodes, in analysis, research, and the actual battle itself, are like light years apart.

Of course if they released the former first because the latter needed more time to cook in the oven then I completely understand and I won't hold it against DB, but Omni-Man vs Bardock now feels like a firecracker compared to the explosion of fireworks which is Eggman vs Bowser.
I think it's mostly time in the oven, but you don't want to start with the best one, just a popular one.

I do like how they had alternate scenarios not only to fit in bits of animation that wouldn't flow well with the main fight but also as a "Hey here's what would've happened if they did this instead" to show outcomes and the counters to different strategies visually as well.
That's something I need to tip my hat to Death Battle for, to be honest.

They didn't have the episode be one where Bowser wins in every conceivable scenario against Eggman, the alternate scenarios showed that there are scenarios where Eggman can actually beat Bowser...Bowser just happens to win more times than not. If anything? It makes more apparent that Bowser vs Eggman is such a very debatable match that there are many situations where both can take the W.

Ngl I don't like the sonic scaling here on vsbw. I think anyone who isn't powered by 7 chaos emeralds is around the tier 6 area and super forms and such are 2-A to Low 1-C at most. I don't really trust the whole hyper-timelines thingamabob
But..but.. what about the Chaos Emerald’s CM1 and info manip!?! Fraudser can’t counter that, hiw did he beat my Eggoat, my eggking, my egghusband!!?!!

Personally I think non Chaos Emerald powered users have decently consistent Tier 5/4 feats and scaling, but I respect your opinion on Sonic scaling even if I disagree with it myself.

I ain't scared bro, it takes more than a few nerds on the internet to scare me
A nerd on the internet says this
Kek.

Not sure why people are acting like VSBW Sonic fans are rabid against any ideology against their own, it just proves people like to yap away at preconceived notions of a fandom instead of visiting the general discussion and seeing how much scaling varies even amongst ourselves (at least, those who don't just blindly follow the pages). Typical.

I mostly think people like Tangle shouldn't be Low 2-mfing-C. Like these are the same people who were almost blown up by a bomb that threatened a...uh...a warehouse...
I know, I know, it is simply an outlier even among the idw comic scaling, but I still feel like tier 2 should be reserved for super form scaling and the rest are whatever tier fits the bill below.

mf I wasn't the one insinuating it. And does me being a nerd on the internet change the fact that I am not scared of nerds of the internet? Wild.

No I totally understand what you what you mean. As someone who's currently reading the IDW comics, it is incredibly glaring to see someone who scales to Low 2-C like Tangle be nearly blown up by a bomb which threatened a warehouse just as you said a consequence of SEGA making IDW canon to the game continuity instead of its own thing, admittedly.

But honestly? I just chalk it up to the writers not giving a shit about consistency and cohesion in the strength of their characters and just writing what they want for the sake of the story. It doesn't excuse it, and it's still egregious, but that's how I see it anyway.

Why did you bring up that I was an internet nerd and find it funny that I said that I wasn't scared then?
I didn't find it funny that you weren't scared, there's your misconception. I found the irony of the statement funny.
Either its an illogical thing or you're insinuating that it is weird somehow.
No, I was making a simple joke. Do you want to continue over-reading me?

I agree with that but at the same time it puts them in a separate category for me - the grounded category. A grounded character can be tier 5 or 4 or whatever but tier 2 is infinite territory, it is a place that really shouldn't be reached by random people

no lies in thinking that
