The whole Killer reveal was astonishing to me...I feel for both Kidd and Killer in this chapter.
That paired with the fact that Kidd asked him what happened to the rest of his crew, and considering that Killer is being called the Manslayer and how he started crying after being asked that question. I hope Oda isn't leading up to the fact that Kaido or Orochi had Killer massacre the whole crew in order to keep his Captain safe....One Piece is once again taking a dark turn.
Indeed. I was caught by surprise with the whole Killer thing in this chapter. I wouldn't be surprised by the fact that he saw his crewmates getting killed.
In order to keep Kid alive both Orochi and Kaido ordered him to become the former's personal hired assassin. It's a possibility to consider.
Best chapter of Wano easily. This arc is getting insane really quickly, we have a Rampaging Big Mom, Kaidou, Beast Pirates, X-Drake, Hawkings, Wano Country, Kidd, Killer and The Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance all in the same arc about to break out in an all out war.
Also I have to praise Oda again how he is able to just consistently breath-out interesting characters almost every arc. I'm completely sold out on Kidd's and Killer character after this chapter.
All of the members of CP9 (except for Nero and Spandam of course) have been confirmed to have Armament and Observation Haki. Long post here.
Though it feels a bit like a retcon, it could also explain this. Instead of Lucci hitting Luffy hard enough to bypass his blunt force resistance, he simply hit him with at least basic levels of armament Haki.
It doesn't make much sense to be fair. Why is Tekkai a thing when it's a shittier, much less versatile version of Armament: Koka? Is it a manifestation of Armament Haki too? Blueno doesn't show any proficiency with Armament Haki and he's a Tekkai specialist so I don't know about that.
Must be due to being two different abilities. Someone in Arlong Park said that Tekkai and CoA affects two different things: Harden the skin (CoA) and harden the body (Tekkai).
Being a novice in Haki might be also the reason, but this retcon doesn't make a lot of sense when we watch the fights. It makes sense lore-wise, but it doesn't when we look back at the arc.
Still, I see no reason why someone would spend years training to be proficient on Tekkai instead of Armament Haki. Even if someone would want to argue that Tekkai gives you bigger durability boost, it doesn't compensates for the versatility, mobility and offensive advantages proficient Armament Haki gives you over Tekkai. At best I see Tekkai useful if you can use both Hardening and Tekkai to get maximum durability increase, but that doesn't seem to be the case as the CP9 members at best have the basic invisible armament Haki.
Tekkai advanced users can move and has some good abilities tied with it, but I agree that in general Haki is a way better option, especially against DF users.
It's shown you need to train and be extremely proficient to be able to move properly with Tekkai. Meanwhile Armament Haki gives no mobility downgrade at all and even Full-Body hardening doesn't seem to cause any dexterity problems from what we saw from Vergo and Pica. Honestly the only ability Tekkai has that is worth your while is damage reflection but Armament Haki can do it much better.
I agree. Haki is just better in more measible ways. Tekkai is mostly useful in the Paradise and as a versatility Plus in New World where you just have Haki to even compete.
I enjoy seeing creative abilities made from combining other abilities in One Piece.
Makes me think of how haxed a Composite One Piece character would be.
@Calaca; you interested in working together on a Composite One Piece profile? (Obviously we can't post it as an actual page, but we could put it in a blog post as a reference).
