Legend of Zelda General Discussion Thread

2 more weeks untils the totk masterworks confirms that Zelda is using the full power of the Triforce in botw / totk and that it scales to the goddesses leading into mulitversal tulin

Hmm, was checking around a bit and it's only the Japanese release for now, the localization is still some time away. At LoZ doesn't have the stuck in Japan curse the FF Ultimanias have, so I'm cool with it.
Probably get shadow dropped on the usual places, from there we can just translate it.

Still hoping we get something for 16😭😭
Japan having the ultimania for a year while we're stuck without a English release in sight is killing me
This is not a good signal. Frig, given they were actually beginning to localize some of the FFVII Remake guidebooks I thought they actually were opening up to bringing over the side materials over here.

How do you guys do it? I've tried translating stuff from guidebook myself, but I can only manage tidbits and that still takes quite a bit of time.

Just finished watching a playthrough of Before Crisis. Is the game even canon? The protagonist Shotgun appears during the Nibelheim incident even though we see in Crisis Core that no other Turk was at the mako reactor during Zack's mission.

Also I could be wrong because I haven't played Rebirth, but Cissnei goes missing after entering the Planet's core to fight Zirconiade, and only re-appears at the epilogue. I heard she appears in Rebirth so that may be a contradiction?
You ain't escaping that easy

For those unable to check the link (No offense meant.), here's a copy-paste of the text:
"Join us tomorrow, August 19 at 3pm PT, for a tour of the Nintendo Museum that’s scheduled to open during the fall of 2024 in Kyoto, Japan! The Nintendo Museum Direct livestream will last roughly 10 minutes. #NintendoDirectWatch here: https://ninten.do/6015lvBvh"

From a follow-up Tweet, less than a minute later: "Please note that there will be no game announcements or mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation."

A-All news is good news, right?
At least this way, we won't have to worry about them getting our hopes up for something, right?

But seriously, I can't imagine this as anything more than a glorified ad for a tourist trap & merchandise store, as well as just an intellectual property bragging zone.

Also, as a Pokemon fan, this after Worlds 2024 lead with an announcement on Friday of news in its Closing Ceremonies on Sunday... & the news was just TCG stuff, mobile games & Pokemon Pocket (Mobile pack opening simulator).... Is Nintendo trying to one-up TPCi in disappointment? I have a heard controversy sells & stuf....

Also, wow I just realized I'm late to this news; The Museum Tour "Direct" is at 3 PM PT, & 3 PM PT is in just over 3 hours from now!

Argh, compeltely missed it! Was there anything good?

On another note: BOTW Link vs Tarnished Blog. Nothing really special, but it was a pretty fun read.

Off topic, but... Say, I havent' found the XVI Ultimania itself, but I have found some translations and analyses around. Haven't checked them myself because I still plan to play XVI as soon as I can, but they are there.

I overslept & didn't catch it until the night after, but it was sort of interesting. Nothing VS Debating related; It was a museum tour, & as said, nothing about new video game releases or systems.
But it had some stuff like games you'd play classic games (Like SM64) with giant controllers so big you'd need 2 people to operate it, seemingly, even ones with giant Wii Motes... some kind of traditional Japanese card game played on a touch screen floor, rooms with lots of props that'd do special actions when hit with a ball you'd fire from a gun.

The site of the museum is also apparently where the old Hanafuda factory was.

Shigeru Miyamoto was the one doing the tour.

I can't remember if there was much in the way of LotZ exhibits, but I'm sure there was.

It might be more interesting if you saw it yourself, but it isn't much my thing.

So some preview pages have been coming out here and there ahead of the masterworks release on friday, nothing particually interesting beyond the concept art so far. They do update Calamity Ganon's bio compared to what they had in the BOTW book, updating it to be line with TOTK and being the manifested hatred / grudge of current Ganondorf as opposed to the old version being Ganondorf directly just transformed into this current state.

Again, already had this confirmed by the game itself but given how a lot of people just seem to miss that info and get confused about Calamity Ganon at least they'll be able to see it from the book. Does make me wonder more about the development of TOTK, in BOTW they almost certainly intended the calamity just to be the Ganon from previous games (Minus four swords) just twisted and transformed by his own anger, gotta wonder at what point they decided to make this current interation of him a seperate person.

So some spoilers for the timeline in the new TOTK masterworks

The creation story is brought up, same as it always was but uh... instead of saying the goddesses left behind the Triforce and left it in Hylias care it says they left behind the secret stones and entrusted them to hylia, then she gave them to the Zonai. The rest of the timline is then just the hisyory of the hyrule in BOTW/TOTK. There's a few interesting implications from this.

hmmm very interesting. what kind of implications come to mind?

Mostly timeline stuff, like how would this fit with the idea that this is a new kingdom founded after the previous one got ****** up essentially beyond repair with the only surviving evidence being a few relics and myths of previous games, if apparently this is the first version founded after the goddesses made the world according to timeline in the masterworks. Either that or the timeline just ďecided to skip over anything to do with the Triforce and other games just to focus on the current houses history or the world had to be recreated after how bad it got ****** up previously? I dunno

Worth noting the book literally came out a few hours ago, so translations so far might not be the best atm.

There's already conflicting translations about whether the goddesses made the stones directly or if they were a byproduct of the land when they made the world.

It's out? Give me the exact japanese title (in moon runes), Ill see if I can grab it.

Oh cool new echos trailer, Zelda can basically turn into Link to become a sword fighter for brief periods of time so that's neat ig

People in the Still World "sort of Petrify" & then just fade away.

So, Zelda not doing so might mean her magic, or Tri's, gives Resistance to whatever that is? Time Manipulation &/or Petrification? Existence Erasure?

Still needs more context, we need to know why Zelda is able to visit the Still World without these negative effects. It may just be bodies decaying rather than being erased from existence, and its pretty limited since it takes a long time

True. & the game is technically still unreleased, so it's dubious to index at this point anyway.

Yeah pretty much gotta wait and see how the specifics of it all work, I'm more intrested in that Link part at the end of the trailer. Wonder if it's the real link under mind control or if it's an echo of the real deal.

Thinking on it, I doubt it's decay, at least not natural decomposure. If people are petrified, & trees can be sideways, why would there be decomposure?
MAYBE by some kind of pervasive negative energy in the Still Worlds eroding the trapped? & that's what Tri means by "fade away"?

I'd assume Real Link. We haven't seen any means other than Tri that can make Echoes & there's purple smoke(?) emanating from him. The turn around with glowing eyes & an aggressive look suggest to me he's possessed/mind controlled.

I find it poetic that the Tri Rod mechanic is so uninteresting that they literally just let Zelda become Link for a while, and they added automatons which are very slightly different from the Tri Rod.

Man you're like, kind of obnoxious, you know that?
Like jesus christ every time you talk about it it's just you yapping about how you don't like it. If you don't like it, yeah cool, stop complaining about it every chance you get though because it's actively annoying?

Like didn't you want her to have a sword and just be Link 2 anyway? Why the backpedal?

That's what happens when everything I worried this game would become is currently happening.

No, that's what you accused me of wanting, which I denied multiple times.

"it isn't tailored to my direct wants".
Man as said, actually obnoxious. It looks fine, you don't like the gimmick, so what? Shit just ain't for you specifically I guess, that doesn't mean go and yap about it every chance you get because it doesn't strictly appeal to you.
Shit happens, get over it, the gimmick looks fine, interesting, cool, and could lead to an exorbinant amount of shit and utility as it's open-ended with lots of options.

This is testamount to if I complained about how majora is bad because "oh a time limit to do stuff is uninteresting" or "albw is bad because it's just turning into a picture how boring". Like damn dude, nobody said you have to like it, but all you ******* talk about it is how much you aren't vibing with it, which, yeah cool, still doesn't change the fact it's annoying, like why go online just to complain about shit you don't like? Not because it's actually bad, but just because you don't specifically like it? Do you not have anything more substantial to talk about? Like come on man.
No, that's what you accused me of wanting, which I denied multiple times.
And I'm still saying as much, that's evidently the sort of thing you wanted, you wanted her to have have a sword, fight, and basically be Link 2, now she can under certain situations.
