Legend of Zelda General Discussion Thread

Is anyone willing to make descriptions for the sage abilities? Becuase I honestly can't be bothered.
just ask an AI, weak it slightly then pretend you did it, because that's what I would ******* do if i knew how
hell i know a few main mfs here do that

Hey would it be fair to label Link as the Sage of Time and Light? He does have a secret stone and access to some of Rauru and Zelda's powers.

I was considering that as it's functionally a smoke screen, but it's the spores that are forming the cloud.
I'm also unsure if Fungus Manipulation really counts either, since its basically doing the same thing any particulate cloud could do.

"Fungus Manipulation & Smoke Manipulation with Puffshroom (explanation)".

Literally just do both, Fungus due to the cause (and idk, it actually being spores kinda noteworthy if he's matched with plant manipulators or something) and smoke for the function.

Ok, next big thing involving Link: Gloom Resistance.

No matter if we're regarding the in-game buff itself or the passive "not instantly dying" elements from Spirit Orbs and the Master Sword, Link needs resistance to those abilities.

However, Ganondorf has a lot of things he can do with Gloom and Malice. Ignoring the more supplemental abilities like telekinesis, teleportation, storm creation, etc., what should we have the resisted abilities be?

Didn't Dusty cover all that? Just rip it from Ganon's profile.

The obvious ones would be life/death manip (dont think I need to elaborate), power null/stat decreases (locking the heart containers ig?), disease manip (gloom makes mfs sick, even long after they cease contact, Link is fine), soul manip (one of the gloom weapons ***** with the soul iirc, obviously the more hearts Link has, the longer he can endure it so that's res), absorption of the life force variety (gloom weapon shit again).

Yeah, I just needed help sorting through which ones are directly about Gloom and which ones are Ganondorf using Gloom in a unique way (there's also Death Manip in Malice's abilities)

Also, I need to figure out which keys I need to apply it on.

That's just something he'd have from the literal start as early game link has better resistance against gloom than like anyone else

So for the abilities that are just the standard Gloom it's everything under Gloom Afflication so Link's resistances should cover that, besides that Link doesn't deal with any of the more specialized uses of Gloom except for the sleep manipulation usage, that should be fine since he can touch the Gloom in the Deku Tree without going into a living sleep like the tree and koroks do from it. For the keys, yeah it's tricky since like Chariot said his resistance becomes better with the more hearts he has, at bare minimum he gets max amount of resistance possible by endgame since he'd have full hearts by then. Maybe his weakened start of game key can have a limited resistance due to being able to handle standing in gloom a little bit (Still kills him quick tho) with a full resistance to the disease manipulation part of it since that's the one part of Gloom that never affects him at all then after that just list as, I dunno, "Improved Resistance" or something in the keys afterwards?

I initally decided to start the resistance at Mid-Game earlier today, but what you said makes sense. For the latter keys, I did decide on "further Resistance".

I currently have it labled as a result of the heart containers, but is there any modifer based on the Master Sword we should know about?

He should have resistances since the very start of the game

If we're making a key for dragon Zelda she should also get the resistances as well. During the final battle she can be hit by the gloom orbs while you're standing on her and besides making the crystals on her back flicker it doesn't really affect her.

Yeah I think Link should get some resistance to Gloom from the very start of the game as well, a pretty shitty resistance but one nonetheless. Although another quick thing I wanna point out is that for everything under Gloom Affliction the only thing Link shouldn't resist from that is healing negation since he can't heal from it on his own outside of specific potions (Dunno if those potions would count as a form of resistance themselves or more likely just be purification)

Yeah she should, although not sure if that's due to resisting Gloom or because her light powers naturally dispel it's effects, either way either a resistance or pretty dope passive power null/purification.

Well to be fair regular people also kinda get insantly sick and drained along with all of the other effects the moment they come into contact with it, hence the guy you meet in the tent kinda the moment you drop from the sky islands. Link doesn't even get this sickness at all, it doesn't make him collapse or physically weaker the way it does for the other races so it is still quite decent as its his bare minimum level of resistance

Link also recovers quite quickly from the effects that do manage to affect him, would that amount to anything?
I think recovering from the effects decently quick is solid-ish resistance, albeit one that only works if he's not being constantly smacked with whatever affected him in the first place. Except for the healing negation part of Gloom, Link needs outside forces like Zelda's light powers, sunlight or food/potions with properties of sunlight to recover from that specifically.

oops just noticed a mistake I didn't fix before publishing TOTK Ganon's profile, I doubled checked the japanese versions of various parts of his Gloom when I was working on it initially (Pretty much everything was translated 1-1) but the gloom spear specifically mentions in the japanese version to reap the soul with a single cleave instead of the english translation saying it just takes a part of the soul.

I thought I already had that added in but uh turns out I forgor and left in the english version and the part of it only taking a part of the soul. I should probably make a CRT for that when I'm done putting away all the food we have for christmas.

Probably any? It isnt like Link gets soul ****** when hit at any point.

The only caveat i can think of is, how much damage does Phantom Ganon do? He might just straight up ohko an early game. Which leads into another problem, how much hearts does each key have? Because in theory you can get like ******* 30 before doing any dungeon, or you could have the minimum 4.

I'm pretty sure it would be four hearts for Link (The inital three, and the one from the GSI), but that does bring up the question of "where do we put the end of early game at?". Not specifically for the hearts, but it is relavent if we want to grant Link the Purah Pad's info analysis and teleportation (and possibly Clarivoiance for the radar function), which would only occur after he reaches Lookout Landing.

If we wanted the least amount of issues and guesswork.

Probably the moment he touches Hyrule, as at that point he can ******* do basically anything in whatever order. So theres no real cutoff point between then and the mid game. Like if you wanted, you could just **** off and go get a billion hearts, weapons and a bunch of shit before even talking to Purah.

If it was me, Early (Start to Hyrule), Mid (Everything pre MS), Endgame (MS to ending).

Not unless we have five profiles that use it, atm Ganon is the only profile, Calamity Ganon if you count malice.
At best youre looking at a blog.

Where are the OoT Sages??
Did you check for them under the tray?

Wait a minute, the Sage profiles! Where are the OoT Sages??
Do you realize that half of them have zero feats and never fought on screen right?
We're an.indexing wiki, there needs to be stuff to actually index though.

Ngl, other than Darunia, Impa and Nabooru, the rest should probably be relegated to a team profile, as opposed to an individual profile.

Bruh why do people have some wild takes when it comes to Zelda powerscaling like the Triforce being fodder, each piece rivaling the gods or Ganondorf's laughter transcending time and going back to the past therefore he has Immeasurable speed 💀

Sometimes being stronger than the Triforce makes sense, a weakened Ganondorf stomped Cia with the full Triforce in Hyrule Warriors

I mean people have wild takes when it comes to powerscaling for any series, well wild takes just in general honestly just not vs debates.

Each piece rivalling the gods has always been a funny one, it's mostly due to them being said to be "the power of the gods" so people tend to take that as meaning the highest possible end of being equal to their respective goddesses. Which even ignoring the fact that pieces like the Triforce of Courage don't even have a consistent power boost (Sometimes it makes Link stronger, sometimes it doesn't) that can reasonably scale to the goddesses (Or the fact that nobody even has feats close to their level) but they often use it being the power of the gods when referring to just abilties, like how the power of the gods protects them from becoming lost souls or monsters in the twilight.

Plus they use power of the gods to describe the complete Triforce as well, which has feats way above the sum of it's parts and is treated as so powerful that Ganon with just his single piece drools over the idea of having the full thing under his command. Like if people wanna do Goddess scaling like that more power to them, but uh personally never brought into it.
