God to Villain - Steel Hell (RP Thread)

fc6oDbj.jpg

Rain poured to the grounds of Dusk City, the alleyways painted in liquid. Rats crawled through the muck of the desolate region, all manner of scum crawling into the streets of Dusk City to do their business.

And in the deepest, darkest parts of the city...

...

"Engen..."

A man walked into a dark, cold room, a flickering light keeping the room alight. It was empty, devoid of any obvious furniture or anything to brighten the mood. It was akin to a... solitary confinement chamber, cut off from the outside world and any other form of contact.

"I agreed to bring them here because I thought I'd get something out of this. Now, I know you'd never lie to me, but..."

"Quiet, Mujin. They'll come."

With him, stood another. He hid in the darkness, outside of sight, but he domineered over the air... His voice made the space around him tremble, and caused the man that stood before him to shudder, the power seeping into his veins. The man, seemingly named Mujin, shook his head, putting his hands in his pockets, a sly grin plastered across the dull man's face. He breathed out.

The two men, clouded in mystery, awaited their partners.

"You sure they'll come, Engen...?"

"They'll come."

"You said that already, but..."

"I told you to wait, Mujin... No villain worth a damn would pass up a job this profitable. Just have faith."

"Faith in what...?"

"Faith in villainy."

"Having faith in a villain...? Great idea..."

And they continued to wait.

"Mind giving me a briefing on them...?"

"You doubt to much, Mujin..."

"I at least deserve a briefing..."

"....."

"Come on, Engen. A briefing. I need info on who I'm working with."

"...."

"...Please?"

"...Fine."

"Great!"

"...."

"...Mind starting?"

"...Alarak Tal'tharim. A fighter. Previously a rich kid, but kicked out of her household after murdering a servant at the age of 5. Currently a mercenary. Her Soul Edge is called Psionic. Its effects aren't publically known."

"Sounds hard to deal with. Next?"

"..."

"...Next??"

"Michael. I don't know her past. Her Soul Edge is unknown."

"Wish you had more info, but, what can you do...? Next."

"Cato Hyatt. His past is irrelevant. His Soul Edge is unknown."

"....Amazing briefings."

"You wanted information."

"This isn't information..."

"You want it or not?"

"...Fine. Next."

"Zack Johns. Known to the public as the "Painter Master". A first-rate villain, with a versatile Soul Edge that allows him to distort reality."

"Reality Distortion...? Heh. Intriguing."

"It's powerful. It's why I hired him. But it's not all-powerful."

"Obviously. Next?"

"Kiara Merlo. An unknown past, with a pathetically weak Soul Edge. But she has potential. She can grow, if put to work."

"You've always had an eye for potential, haven't you, Engen...? Heh... Next?"

"Antony Collins. Another first-rate Villain. His powers are devastating, uncontrollable, but strong when tempered. He'll be useful for some muscle."

"Is that so...? I'll keep an eye on him, then. Next?"

"Mimic. Once again, a first-rate Villain. Digging up info on him his hard, though. He's never gone public with his skills, and the Hero Association has no file on him."

"He's discreet, then?"

"Very. I didn't have time to do anymore digging."

"It'll be interesting to meet him, then... Next?"

"Finally, a woman known as Tooha. Not a lot of info on her to begin with."

"Haaaa... Well, it's a fine enough briefing. I know what to expect... somewhat, then. I guess we just need to wait, then..."

Mujin crossed his arms, staring at the door as his teeth collided with his lower lip, a shudder running through his body.

"Don't get to excited, Mujin..."

"Oh, I won't... I just... wonder. Wonder who'd join us in this Hell..."

And as such, they waited for the new arrivals...

Mujin glanced over at Kiara, before simply smiling. "Would somebody be willing to pay for our tiny friend, here?"

Mimic simply shrugged. He certainly wouldn’t have wasted his cash on some kid he just met, so he was somewhat relieved the others were willing to throw theirs away.

“…Suckers. Didn’t even check her to see if she was lying…” Mimic thought. He rubbed a hand across his tired eyes, his feet dragging against the ground as he walked behind the group.

...

As the group was let through the gate, they would realize that the walls of the Cloud Garden was actually much, much thicker than they previously thought. Walking through them was like traversing through a dark, cold tunnel, with the only thing illuminating the way being dimly lit lights that hung from the walls, flickering occasionally.

"It'd be impossible for even the strongest Soul Edge user to tear down such a thick wall... heh..." Mujin thought to himself, placing his hands in his pockets.

Zack mentally jotted this down, he could use later to create a story about the claustrophobia of a super thick walled trail that never ends, thus earning more money.

(Money is money the world is consumed in money 🤑)

"Thick walls from the protection of Soul Edge... It makes sense given the circumstances of their power... or lack thereof..." Cato thought, walking with his hands behind his back, akin to a professor treading around a campus.

"I couldn't break down this wall if I tried, not in a timely manner at any rate." Alarak thought to herself, smiling at the thought of a competent fight here

"Dangerous... very dangerous..." Michael thought, grimacing internally at the sight

Mimic glanced around the dark tunnel, gritting his teeth. He reached for his knife again, but was, again, reminded of his absence. Breathing out he, wearily, glanced around in the darkness, as if to ensure nothing would jump out at him.

As they walked, they would eventually come up to four large paths, with light shining from afar through them, guards standing by next to each path.

"Welp, I've got no idea where to go next." Mujin said, placing his hand in his pockets. Each of the paths was accompanied with, barring guards, an appropriate metal sign, naming the location that each path led to:

"Tokita".

"Rikuko".

"Shiki".

"Rohza".

Cato opened his pocket watch as he glances towards the four paths.

"Tokita— a Japanese word that is divided into two kanji: with "時" meaning time, hour and "田" meaning rice field, rice paddy.

Rikuko— Japanese word divided into three kanji: with 里 meaning "village, hometown, birthplace; 久 meaning "long time, old, long-cherished; and 子 meaning "child, offspring, young, junior, small.

Shiki— another Japanese word that means "ceremony".

And lastly, Rohza— a word that came from the Bahamas— a country in Caribbean that means Rose...." he muttered.

Mimic sighed, gritting his teeth in annoyance.

“...We aren't picking based on a ******* name...” Mimic said tiredly.

“So he didn't even bother to give you a map of the area? Nothing?”
"Well, I have personally been to Tokita before... But that was quite a long time ago, and I've never been down these other 3 paths." Mujin explained.

Mujin smiled, "Well, as I said, it's been a long time. I might not be the most... effective guide, one might say."

"To the first gate it is, then!" Mujin said with a wide smile, beginning to walk with a tiny skip, uncanny enthusiasm in his movements.

As they traversed down the path to Tokita, light began illuminating the darkness of the hallway, clearly, they were getting close to finally entering the city itself. Wind, that had previously been trapped out of the hallway from within, began wafting against the group, though it was nothing that would stagger them.

"By the way, when we get there... Try and be discreet, yeah? A large population of Tokita are Soul Edge users like us. You'll never know what could happen if you piss off the wrong guy or gal..." Mujin warned.

Cato remained silent as he looks at his pocket watch, though is attentive enough to listen and agree.

Mimic breathed out softly, his hands fiddling at the fabric of his inner pocket. His fingers trembled ever so slightly, though he was far too used to hiding his anxiousness for it to be obvious.

“...Being discreet in a new city should be common sense...” He thought. His tired eyes glanced around as they walked, carefully taking note of everything they passed. He could never be too cautious, especially if what Mujin said was true.

(HI. Back to doing this.)

The group was getting closer to exiting the bright hallway, the wind that was wafting into their face now taking on the horrific stench of burning iron and scorched flesh... This smell could only intensify as they walked, and eventually, they would finally exit the large tunnel, fully entering Tokita District...

...

"Ahh... You can never get enough of that freshly burned corpse smell!" Mujin exclaimed, taking in a breath of the... "fresh" air.

To begin with, the inside of Tokita was large, extremely large. Simply from eyeing it from the entrance, which stood on top of a large cliff which threatened to collapse at any moment with them all standing on it, it spanned hundreds upon hundreds of square miles in terms of size. In all of that space lay several buildings of varying size, some large, some small, but all of them were run down, even from afar the group could feel the violent smell of the burning of various irons and minerals, polluting the artifical atmosphere. If they weren't all Soul Edge users, it'd be completely impossible for them to breath in such a polluted air, almost immediately annihilating their lungs. The people that could be seen from the entrance were scarce in some areas and clumped together in others, there was no real order to where people went, they saw where the business was and they went there, no matter how run down or broken the location or building may be...

Michael scowled, this definitely didn't bring back good memories, but she still kept her calm

Alarak smiled a little, she hoped these would post a minor challenge
