No ******* way DB is gonna pick Shao over Raoh
Shao Kahn is more well known to a general audience than Raoh is so that's something that can make him more enticing to use.

Honestly I think it could go either way, Shao is more well known and SF vs MK used to be big thing (Not so these days, but the rivalry was there for a while), but Raoh has better connections and would work better with Akumas fighting style, plus while he isn't as well known as Kahn it's not like he's a nobody. I'm leaning more towards it being Shao Kahn, but I wouldn't be that surprised if they use Raoh.

Isnt season 8 the season of most requested matches basically, if Akuma vs Shao Kahn is more requested there is that then, but if they feel like Akuma deserves a better opponent to get him back, Raoh could be switched with

After all Carnage and Venom were given better opponents then their most requested ones, which gave us two franchises people didnt knew much about

That's True
Back in S5 when it had a similar theme Raven,Ultron and Carnage fought different opponents than what most wanted

Carnage fought Lucy when others wanted him to fight Mercer and Darth Maul
Raven fought Twilight when she had Scarlet Witch and Jean Gray
Ultron fought Sigma when most wanted him to fight Brainiac

Here the connections between Shao Kahn vs Nightmare i gave in previous thread months ago, some are copy pasted:

-both wanna conquer their respective worlds

-are the iconic big bads of the series, whom didnt debut as actual characters till the 2nd game

-they want souls to consume them and grow more powerful, they have other characters whom they make get these for them and arent entirely loyal to him

-both of them wear helmets which only till later on you could have them off to show whats underneath

-their titles have been taken by others before (Nightmare had a different host after Siegfried wasnt anymore, even became its own thing with no host at one point and Kahn title was taken by those like Kotal and Kitana)

-they both use giant weapons that are iconic and was used by others before (in soul calibur other characters got a hold of the sword before or after, in mkx on a stage you could use shao kahn hammer as interactive from environment)

-nightmare and shao kahn in their latest games have opposing armor in colors, nightmare has blue and silver themes, kahn has red and gold themes

-both of them have one of their arms as non human in nature, nightmare is pretty much evident, kahn in mk11 has one of his almost reptilian like scale from what we see

-both have met their demise a couple times against the classic main character of their series

-they both have their opposites that they fought before and got defeated by them (Raiden for Shao Kahn, Siegfried/Soul Calibur for Nightmare/Soul Edge)

-broken final bosses (Shao Kahn is self explanatory, Nightmare is mainly via Night Terror which was a cheap final boss in Soul Calibur 3)

I don't care who Shao Khan Faces as long as its not Akuma
also yes Nightmare better

Should Akuma be not fighting Raoh, let us at least hope Raoh fights Hideyoshi Toyotomi (Sengoku Basara).

Madaraizen, Shaokuma, Diocard, Korrey... Salt sea ice cream tastes good.

And totally unrelated but... How good is Scott Pilgrim coming to die to Travis Touchdown anytime at Season Eight or Nine?
And do we need to wait till Season Nine (by then Pokémon Arceus is out) and still not see Pokémon again? (Like they dare to skip Shulk vs Lightning when Xenoblade is out)

The term "Mary Sue" is based on a Star Trek fanfiction character of the same name. Overly Sarcastic Productions made a great video on the topic.

Long story short, while being good at everything with minimal or no explanation is part of it, another is being beloved by almost everyone in-universe minus the villains (And even then usually respected or feared by the villains). It's also not a term inherently exclusive to female characters.

Korra literally has an entire arc about her failing, and while Rey is a poorly written character she's certainly gone through plenty of struggles despite having more power than she reasonably should. Batman (When he's poorly written) is probably more of a Mary Sue than Korra or Rey.

I remember reading that fanfic; all the men fell in love with her, all the women wanted to be her (or be her friend) and when she died literally everyone was mourning her to the point it felt like the end of the universe.
