DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Ok, I finished rewatching Bowser vs Eggman. I will give my full thoughts and opinions on this episode.
So Deidalius, your king won in the end so congratulations. But what were your thoughts on the episode in terms of analysis, animation, result explanations, and all that?
As for the analysis, I think it is really good, outstanding even. They covered niche data about each other, explained their character, character arcs and personality correctly while also explaining how good their powers and haxes are. I have no issues with it. I personally disagree with how Death Battle powerscales characters and with most powerscalers in general, but Death Battle had nice inner consistency, which is all that mattered.

I have been listening to the BGM, Game Over, countless times, it is good, but it isn't as catchy as Requiem for a thief and Solid state invincible imo. The BGM is fitting, and it makes the fight really epic.

The animation is perfect, literally one of the best Death Battle animations of all time. Everything looked great and fluid. My only issues are that it switches from 3D to handrawn sometimes, and it can look a bit off-putting, but that's literally my only complaint.

The start of the fight was great, it made perfect sense for both characters. It's an average Bowser/Mario game hijink.

Bowser was dominating and being badass and raw throughout the whole fight. The pre analysis hyped up that cool robot Eggman had just to be dismantled with ease. Infinite killing most of Bowser's army just to be curbstomped by King Boo was complete kino. I kinda wish King Bob Omb did something more than die, but he's fodder, that's expected. I am kinda interested in King Boo since he is apparently extremely powerful. Either way, Bowser protecting his army from the gravity attacks with his dark magic was wholesome. Also, I like that Cubot and Orbot didn't die, but they appeared in the segment where everyone tried to grab the Phantom ruby. I really like those two, I grew up on Sonic X and Sonic Boom as my main exposure to Sonic.

Honestly, I'll be honest, I didn't know about this whole "Bowser loves his army, and they love him back" I do not know a lot about the lore of Mario games. I mostly just like the gameplay. Anyway, Bowser's character was perfectly portrayed here, it is very accurate to how he's described and how he is.

Kamek stealing that emerald from Metal Sonic was funny. I haven't played a lot of Mario party games, only Mario party DS, but I assume what he did is an outrageous event from Mario party, which is funny since it's canon, and he can use it in a fight. Metal Sonic was raw, cool and extremely badass throughout this fight. He carried hard, and he looks so cool, I love him. I should read the IDK comics because he transforms into his coolass forms in there.

Fury Bowser reminded me that I have that game and I haven't finished it. Is it good? Should I finish it? I was busy playing other games. Anyway, I liked how they portrayed the power of Bowser, it was cool seeing such a giant lizard be blocked by Sage, she's cool.

Metal Sonic saying "I'll crush you!" goes hard as always. I find it interesting that Sage is stronger than Metal Sonic with 1 emerald, is that canon? Anyway, Super Metal Sonic blitzing Bowser was raw, the clash between Kamek and Sage was cool too. I find it really funny that Metal Sonic just swiped Bowser Jr and Kamek like nothing, it was really funny considering they're the top tiers of Bowser's army.

Bowser locking in when Metal Sonic harms Bowser Jr was so awesome. The energy blast clash was incredibly cool, one of the best looking energy beam clashes I've seen in a while. Sage grabbing the chaos emeralds and possessing the chaos emeralds just to do a full power blast against Bowser was incredibly cool. Not enough people are talking about this, but I liked the shot that revealed the Death Egg wasn't actually the moon, it was standing in front of it this whole time. That was a shot I will replay in my mind forever, so cool... so cinematographic... Anyway, Bowser stepping in front of the blast to protect his army was incredibly cool.

I liked the fake out, I must admit that I didn't fall for it the first time because I wasn't paying enough attention to what was happening, but it was well-structured on a reward, I assume it would have fooled others. That shot of the Death Egg being transmuted into a Lucky Block was so hard, it is literally the most Mario things out of all Mario things that could have happened here. "Eh? You have anime hijinks and good AP? Take all of this wacky cartoon magic dipshit" hahahah. Eggman running away was cool, I really liked how Dry Bowser flicked him towards the Death Egg and made it blow up into a million coins. It's so raw.

Honestly, this might be one of the best Death Battle animations out of all time. I don't get tired of watching it. It's raw, and it's so cool, I love it so much. 10/10. It had me grinning from ear to ear all the time.

As for the Post Analysis, I 100% agree with it. It perfectly makes sense and it explains everything perfectly. I assume it is convincing enough for a casual to understand and may sway the powerscalers (Just kidding, some will never get satisfied)

As for my personal thoughts on who would win. Vs battles wiki is completely correct on Bowser and Mario being Island level fodder or whatever that punching a castle calculation got. Vs battles wiki smoked really good shit when they decided to say that AND then say Sonic has infinite strength in base alongside having higher dimensional strength because of hypertimeline wank or whatever the Sonic furries are smoking. Either way, despite my grievances with the Sonic wank on VSBW, Eggman should still scale higher than Bowser even without those feats. Eggman is faster too (No, neither of them have infinite strength or speed or whatever wank y'all give both)

BUT I like Bowser more than Eggman, so I was extremely glad when Bowser ended up winning.

Anyway, I am praying that the Death Battle effect occurs again, you know, that event in which Vs Battles Wiki makes CRTs and changes to their profiles to wank and match what Death Battle says. It happened with Dark souls, it happened with Bill Cipher (This was my personal 9/11 btw, I hate Bill Cipher with all of my soul) and I hope it happens with Sonic but in reverse. I hope Sonic gets downgraded to more reasonable extents. I pray for the downfall of Sonic powerscaling, they're as bad as DMC, DOOM, God of War, Generic anime MCs (Like Anus Voldigoad and the Mao Gakuins) and all the other self insert power fantasy games/animes.

I would say Mario powerscalers are like that too, but I never hear of them. They're not as annoying as those people I mention, even though their takes are bad (Seriously, Mario being faster than Sonic? 5D Mario? Come on, let's stop wanking)

In conclusion, Bowser vs Eggman is genuinely a perfect episode, everything about it is so good, so perfect, I love it so much. It might be one of the best episodes of all time, out of all of Death Battle. It is a 10/10, hell, maybe even a 11/10. I was at work when this episode came out so I was trying to avoid spoilers and all of that but when I was on break at work, and I watched the episode. I grinned so hard when I saw Bowser win. It genuinely made me happier and it made my day so much better. The episode was so cool and I couldn't wait to get out of work (I work at Mc Donalds btw) to watch it again and again and talk about it again and again. My day is so much better now, I am so happy, this is one of the episodes I wanted the most and they delivered so hard. It's one of the best team fights I have ever seen. It's so kino. So good, so great.

Was discussing MU's with friends and got motivated to make this. Maybe some day I'll make a comprehensive blog for these two;

I am intrigued to hear where you'll end up placing Altair. Will you place her higher than Universal+ and Relativistic+ like vsbw or not?

Unrelated but every site other than VSBW seems to place Altair really high. Which is weird to me, I don't remember her anime being crazy at all.

I am also wondering if you'll make Yukari stomp Altair or nah? I guess I'll read it once you release the blog, if you end up doing so.

Probably doing ground-up research for both, just to be safe. The Re:Creators anime makes at least three or so statements about Altair creating infinite universes and infinite stories, which is very much a case for 2-A scaling here afaik. As for Yukari, her Boundary Manipulation is missing a few things index-wise on this site, like being able to hasten the cycle of entropy by destroying boundaries. Though the latter will likely come after the Chaos Manip revision passes.

Aside from VSBW indexing, it'll better to start from the ground up to get a better framework of what's at play anyhow. I'll likely upload an early draft of the blog in the touhou discussion channel when I can.

Did anyone notice than one koopa in the background literally praying for his life when the Death Egg was about to fire? That little touch cracked me.
Also, I realized Bowser didn't breath fire even once. He did spit meteors, but not his signature flames, which is kinda ironic.
There's so many little touches like that (And it's insane because apparently the whole thing was animated by a single person). Also yeah, didn't really notice it until you pointed it out but it is weird Bowser didn't really breath fire. Closest we got was the meteors like you said and the rainbow mouth beam he shot at Metal Sonic.

Egg head needs a game dealing with ghosts and some sort of transmutation defense if he ever wants a rematch
Rise of the Eisps shows Eggman has Wisp Capsules that contain Jade Ghosts, which have layered intangibility due to their phasing state passing through Metal (who has NPI). He CAN deal with ghosts.

But iirc certain Boos have 2 layers of intangibility so those still escape Eggman's standard capsules
