DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Say, asking out of ignorance, but as long as the game is selling well, can't they just fix the issues down the road? There are many cases where negative press just bounces off that profit shield, I mean see Pokemon.
MK9: 3 million

MKX: 12 million

MK11: 15 million

Its sales come around the range of the older titles, also no, cuz companies have standards for their games where they must hit

Last games pulled such numbers in a 2 year cycle till moving to the next game in the agenda, meanwhile this one will approach 2 years in september and sells only in the range of their game from 14 years ago at best, not even half of their previous 2

You might have a point if you didnt insist everyone in his team are on par with M2 when latter swept his team bar Mega Charizard unless we conveniently ignore composites now. Dark Masters didnt even use special machines, once they died the planet started to return to normal, so one can argue its fine to scale.

Aint no way we are doing these Reddit ass arguments here. "Muh Steel resist and double Fire resist", 1/4 aint shit if we use max potential for Digis, the AP gap is so big it dont matter at all. Red needs to be close to heal his partners which uhh good luck trying to heal when way more powerful being can easily notice you and take you down. It doesnt matter if Dramon Destroyers would only work extra specially on Digimon, they are sharp claw they are still dangerous.

And ohhh my god, Leaf vs Mimi? Leaf vs Mimi?? That boring repeat MU? No way, this sounds way too familiar, it cant be...

Is this you? Oh my god it might actually be you lmao

Mewtwo swept his team during the RBG/FRLG time. HGSS takes place after Red has trained for 3 years. By then could his normal team members beat Mewtwo. They used a machine to do the warping.

Yes, we're doing these "Reddit-ass" arguments here. Who do you think MADE those arguments, purely from nothing but scratch and spite?

YES

And like, Mewtwo has jack shit without lore and scaling, if Id use it for Digi as well we'd get easy Planet level Digis and if we go brainrot route we'd get higher dimensional Digis to sweep Creation Trio stuff.

Red has nothing solid to clearly beat Tai.

This has been my thoughts exactly about Ash's potential reading in the Death Battle. As someone who doesn't know anything too in depth about Ash, all the research stuff I've seen people put forward for him are either:

A) Entirely scaling-chain results, which people have hated for other matches or,
B) Inconsistent and one-off showings, which people have also not liked

Stuff like creation trio or Ash being incredibly strong because of lifting Larvitars or Cosmoem aren't regular things he shows off all the time, or how I imagine the writers wanted it to be interpreted. Which is also again yeah, peak brainrot vs debating as well. If anything I figure the DB research will bring up the Creation Trio stuff but black box how he might not exactly scale to it.

Well, Ash is in Pokémon Masters EX where he can directly fight the Creation Trio.

Lore and scaling is like 99.99999% of all Pokemon feats ever created. No, you wouldn't, because nothing in Adventure until Omnimon scales to Apocalymon's suicide attack. That's only if you assume every single uttering of the phrase "Digital World" automatically means multiverse, and doing something as BS as that would get you kicked out of every VS site on the planet... and STILL wouldn't apply to Wargreymon.

Except the lore and scaling you just disregarded... and every single one of my arguments you disregarded in the comment before that.

You know, with Kratos vs Asura coming out this Sunday: I can't help but have a gut feeling that it's going to end in a Asura W.

I mean this new season of Death Battle started with an upset, where Omni Man ended up winning despite everyone near universally being confident in Bardock winning (faulty reasons for Omni Man winning, aside). And not to mention that Asura's preview made mention of Asura being able to resist soul controlling shenanigans, which I'm sure Death Battle could equate to allowing him to resist a major win con of Kratos i.e. the Claws of Hades.

I don't know, I was wrong about Giorno winning when Joker vs Giorno was about to come out months ago but I just feel like the episode's results are going to be the opposite of what most of us are expecting it to be.

Ah, crap, it's a major decrease since the last games, genuinely had no idea.

Glad that some companies care about having quality, at least to some extent. I was getting too used to big names not caring since they are still making profit.

I know it's not quite the same here with MK, but to think we reached a point where there are games for which selling in millions is not enough. Reminds me what happened with FFXVI, that it sold I think 3 million copies in 3 days and it was still considered underperforming by Square Enix.

To be fair I don’t think asura has a sundisk moment, where a obscure feat net him the victory. Bardock vs Omni man was a colossal failure when it came to research that cannot be replicated.

Soul Calibur 6 also suffered this fate, it sold 2 million after like 3 or so years, while its not a bad number compared to others, i think it would be their 3rd best selling one, it certainly didnt hit the numbers the company wanted

Street Fighter 6 has expectations from Capcom to hit 10 million by the end of its life, that means they put a lot of money to demand this much

True. If anything, I could see DB arguing that Asura and Kratos have relative stats but Asura's ability to grow in power would enable him to surpass Kratos while resisting his insta win hax.

Honestly: I think the biggest factor of this fight is where they're going to scale Norse Kratos and if Kratos himself has the ability to grow in strength, otherwise an Asura W isn't implausible

I'm still bitter Crash Bandicoot 5 got cancelled because of this...

TBF, They also said that as long as Asura has Mantra, he'll live while also bringing up the Blade of Olympus, which is capable of absorption, in his preview.

The enormous budgets and increased costs games have nowadays don't help, afaik.
