They did. That's why Luffy and Sanji sharing a value in deflecting Big Mom's attack at Reiju was denied. (I was the one who brought that point up and it got agreed on >> miraculous)
The same went for guard point Chopper tanking starving Linlin's palm smack when she attacked the Sunny. Usually the context of a far stronger character aiming for a far weaker character changes the upscaling.

Look, I get it. You like Katakuri. But that doesn't change the fact that there is no relevant scaling to put him anywhere near King. At best, you could say that he is stronger than Perospero, who had to be beaten by Sulong Neko - A character that scales higher than Jack - which would put Katakuri somewhere around Queen
This is still debatable. The evidence for Marco scaling to pre TS Admirals is the fact that he did injure Aokiji. I wouldn't go as far as to say that he was absolutely equal to them
