Star Wars Discussion Thread Canon/Legends- Episode V Attack of the Fanons

Yes, this sounds like what I have observed. I've had first-hand experience with a group of such "fans" on another website. They've been raging against the new continuity and for years, particularly the Sequel Trilogy. Heck, a couple of them even hate Dave Filoni because of his work on "The Clone Wars", since it "destroyed continuity" by deviating from other Legends works in depicting certain events or characters.

Just when I thought the star wars fandom couldn't get more screwed up, I end up reading a very enlightening, but troubling article.
I've been saying this since 2016-17: That most of the online toxicity against the ST is driven by these incel Nazi nuts.

They're just a very vocal minority, but damn, they won't go away.

I'm going to stop here. Don't want this thread to get political.

I also have issues with the writing of TCW. But the people hating on Filoni are just too far gone mentally. They're nuts.

I've been reading up on beings such as Wutzek and Tilotny and all basically everything in supernatural encounters. There is definitely a case to be made for Tier 2 Legends at least.

It's worse because those types of people drag down the people that do have valid constructive criticisms.
They even attack them outright.

I remember those type of people once going off on Jensaarai1 (and he's a vocal - but rational - critic of the new Canon). They bombarded him with hate and he lost a lot of subscribers (good riddance, I say).

You are presuming the story should be considered an official part of Legends.

It means exactly that. It's not even published material. Plus, we don't have profiles for any of them.

It may not even be 4-B. Devastating a solar system is not as impressive as outright destroying one.

it wouldnt be one thing thats the issue, so many feats either fall into something being a misrepresentation of whats actually happening or using Flowery Statements. however I think if I could make a CRT for just one of the Issues it would be the Yarel Poof thing, Poof has so many anti feats in that comic alone that if you want to you could argue it was Outlier, this is ignoring the fact that Poof's feat would be closer to "defusing a Bomb" than it would be holding back planet level energy, or that planet level energy isn't constant and builds up at an exponential rate.

I agree with the Yarael Poof thing. What Tier would force users then be at? Back to Tier 6?

IDK someone told me that there are other feats aswell. but most force users Pre Dark Empire would likely be Tier 6 based on what I know right now.

Not sure how true this is but I just learned of a Star Wars fact that blew my mind away.

Yeah with how impactful and fantastic Vader’s scenes were it certainly never felt that short so this came as a big surprise to me. Just goes to show Vader had such a presence you felt like you experienced a whole journey in that amount of time.

tbf I dont think the Cad Bane thing is an anti feat for the Jedi, some species just seems to be more resistant inherently.

some good feats I can think of.

Luke Resisting the screaming Citadel stuff where the planet was controlled by a hivemind.

Kylo and Rey tearing into each other's minds constantly while they fight

Sidious telling a giant Lovecraftian monster to commit suicide.

Ferren Barr used the mind trick on two of his jedi students.
He’s just also incredibly strong willed is he not?

500 pages of SE was fully licensed and approved by LFL editor Pablo Hidalgo in 2008 -> Matt Martin approved the current version of SE for publication on SW.com and Joe's website (Unknown: If the approval of Joe's website means it would be canon material on his website) -> Joe writes a lot more of SE post these approvals and readies a final version -> // The big questions, repeated:

- Is the standard just a LFL editor in the credits, or does it need to be outright published under LFL? -> Chee has sometimes said it needs to be outright published, sometimes not. Lucas-derived material may be a counter-example. - Do they need to approve the final draft, or is approving the earlier draft sufficient? -> Joe claims there's significant precedent for LFL just approving an earlier draft as being sufficient.

It's going to be a tooth-and-nail fight to have it recognized truly canon, but it's totally doable; the precedent with Wizards of the Coast, Dan Wallace's personal site containing canon materials that weren't linked to the official blog just because he had authorization (like Joe's), and how many times contents of Supernatural Encounters were referenced in different works (Aliens in the Empire, Book of Sith and the new Disney canon Smuggler's Guide).

Factual.

@ShadoW We're actually planning a gigantic Legends CRT that massively downgrades most of the characters. I could add you to the discussion.
Someone linked a sandbox by LordTracer in our Discord saying that sandbox was meant to visually represent the changes meant to be applied, is that the case?

It's so confusing. Jedi can go from Tier 9 to Tier 5 and it hurts my small brain.
Legends is very much like DC Comics in this sense. Both Boba Fett and Grievous would easily scale to Yoda's tier with the kind of statements that they have. Karen Traviss turned some non-sensitives into literal gods.

Oh, I thought you were talking about this one. Still planning a lot of stuff, like Luke not scaling to full power Abeloth.

This looks good.

If you're still hunting for sources to create your scaling chain, I'd recommend taking a look at Ethan and Vicious' space on Quora. Their posts have a lot of new reasonings and obscure sources for both canon and Legends that aren't normally found anywhere else. They like the prequel era the most, so I don't know if they'll ever compile some sources on Abeloth vs. Luke. Vicious did a piece on Krayt, though.
