Ragnarök-RP Thread

Belial snapped his fingers, surrounding Kiara in a floating bubble. "There's air in there, and I can provide food, so she'll be fine... But it'll be a long journey, you're right." Kiara coughed, trying to speak.

"H-how long is long..?" Belial rubbed his chin, "Well, usually the trip would take 5,000 hours. We significantly shortened that to maybe 300 hours, and on foot, it'll probably take 4 times that..."

David jumped off the boat, and started walking alongside Belial.

“what about that weird…evil mist thing that was following us? I wonder what it’s gonna do.” David said, glancing back towards the boat as he walked.
"Let's just leave it. It clearly isn't following us, so it not getting to Emerald City is better..." Belial said. The mist that was on the boat continued to release sounds of repulsion and contorted words, but it wasn't following them.. for now.

Belial nodded and continued walking. It wasn't just the abnormal thickness of the water, he could feel his energy getting sapped with each step. It was like the weird attack the monster used to slow King Tiger down before.

"****..." He thought.

As the four rushed toward Verndari, they were all blown back by its mighty roar. It didn't damage them, but it did send them backwards and prevent them from striking, as the booming sound waves of its roar acted almost like a barrier. This seemed to imply that the creature didn't want them in that proximity. However, if they could manage to get there, victory would likely be assured.

Then, Verndari did something unexpected. Clay shot out from its body, but it wasn't to restrain or attack them at all. Instead, they moved, and took the forms of Zonolo, Yamato, Mira and Boros. Boros looked at the duplicates of himself, gauging their power by their aura.

"My clones are equal in power to me..." Boros said.

"It appears to be the case for all of us..." Mira said.

"Huh, they sure do like jumping us in numbers, don't they?" Zonolo said.

"I don't mind one bit!" Yamato said, "I'll take you all on!"

And thus, it went from 4 against 1 to 4 against 496,000,000,001. The motley crew took their combat stances and prepared to face, well, themselves...
The lot of them all battled against the clones that Verndari had created of them. It appeared as though they were naturally getting stronger, allowing them to gain an edge, however small, over their clones. However, they were all holding off on unleashing their full power again just in case the clones could also utilize their full power as well. Instead, Yamato and Zonolo fought through their clones, inching their way toward Verndari.

"Mira! Boros! Cover us!" Zonolo said, inching his way closer alongside Yamato.

Mira and Boros nodded, exerting more power to overwhelm the clones more. Once they were close enough, Verndari attempted to roar and blow them back, but Yamato had transformed once more, leaping onto Zonolo's hand as he threw her toward Verndari before being blown back: a fastball special. The hybrid Yamato used her kanabo, launching a powerful swing as she went through the guardian. Verndari roared in pain, and as he was stunned, Mira and Boros exerted their full power, blitzing their duplicates. Zonolo then lept up toward Verndari, igniting his body as he had against Yamato and unleashing a powerful blast of heat that combusted on it to keep it stunned. As this happened, Yamato swung her kanabo once more, black and red lightning surrounding it as she slammed it down on Verndari. The guardian was shattered into pieces, and Yamato reverted to normal.

Boros turned his eye, charging up a powerful blast of energy. Verndari was reforming.

"COLLAPSING STAR ROAR CANNON!" Boros said, firing a massive blast that incinerated the rocks Verndari was using to regenerate. The Summoning Dream then reverted to his regular state.

"Alright, let's keep moving then..." Zonolo said, his flaming tattoos disappearing.

The crew then walked onward, into the area the guardian of the door was preventing them from entering. As they entered the cavernous area, they noticed something along the ground: lava. They then headed in the direction of where the lava was flowing from. There, they saw a glowing blue crystal chained in the center of the cave.

"There's the gateway to Muspelheim," Mira said.

"So, uh, how do we use it to make it there?" Zonolo asked.

"The lava levels rise, and reach the crystal...." Mira explained, "When that happens, the crystal glows red and gives the lava an effect similar to the water that took us to Hvolfi. Raising the lava levels artificially won't accelerate the process, as the lava is enchanted to respond to the crystal."

"Interesting..." Zonolo said, "So now we wait. Then, we're off to Muspelheim..."

The incessantly boiling waters that Belial and King Tiger traveled on were akin to an acid, burning at their skin and tearing away at the muscles like a plague. The water bubbled and boiled, like the fester of rot and disease.

Belial wasn't at all tired, but he could feel his body be physically weighed down by the effect of the dark rot that began to plague the sea. "At least... Kiara is safe..." She wasn't. Kiara continued to cough, her eyes turning bloodshot.

"Am... I gonna die...?" She thought as they continued to walk. She began to contemplate her own death if they could not make it to Emerald City. Her body was beginning to change, and she knew it. She could feel the pain sweep her off her feet, causing her to convulse.

"Just hold on a little longer...!" Belial thought as he pulled himself forward, feeling the thick and corrupted waters beneath him rumble as beings of pestilence roamed the land.

The beast released toxins and gasses that would make one violently puke, but it did not attack. Instead, it simply tumbled past the group as they walked through the storm of rot. Belial clenched his teeth.

He couldn't summon any of his shadows to help them, that would alarm the enemy that was already walking away from them, and using any of his abilities was becoming harder anyway.

"G- od... Damnit.." He said.

David continued to try and power through, his skin melting and peeling from the sickening water they were standing on. His firm muscles turning into indistinct slop as he tries desperately to continue walking. He was tired, his body slowly shutting down as the strange water slowly broke it into pieces. He stumbled and fell a few times, and one time he almost decided to stop getting up entirely, to just lay their and accept his fate. But he kept pushing. He wouldn’t be left behind.

“****…” David muttered weakly, seeing the monster appear before them. He doubled over, spraying the contents of his empty stomach onto the ground as the smell assaulted him.

“…please…just walk away” David muttered, praying the creature wouldn’t notice them. He barely had the strength to keep moving, much less fight.

The beast tossed and tumbled around, it's own weight and mindlessness making it a herculean feat that it was even walking, but it did. It tripped and tumbled, kicking up the diseased water and spraying it towards the group.

It soon walked away, continuing to travel endlessly until the sea of plagues was purified someday. They continued to travel for weeks on end, sheer willpower keeping Belial from collapsing from the corruption. It wasn't normal, Belial was already a demon, a corrupted being, so things like this shouldn't have deterred him in the slightest...

"A little longer..." Days and weeks passed as they traveled, the corruption slowly, very slowly, leaving them. They were closer than ever before to their destination.

David was a walking corpse, shambling and lurching forward like a zombie. His eyes dim, nearly devoid of life. his body was emaciated, his flesh torn and melted to the bone. he barely resembled his former self as he continued forward. He was no demon, no special breed of human. and his resistance wasn't helping in the slightest to protect him from the overwhelming corruption that was all around them. He was tired beyond belief as if he had been walking for decades.

"....so....close" David muttered. trying to motivate himself to keep pushing foward.

Belial's willpower was something to behold. His eyes burned with determination as he continued to provide food and water for Kiara in her sickness, along with forcefully healing himself and King Tiger so that they could continue their journey.

"Not... Yet..." Belial said to himself constantly. He would not allow himself to fall here. He continued to push forward, pulling King Tiger forward as well when necessary. "Almost...!!!!!"

Belial fell to the ground.

"Huh..?" Belial then pulled himself up, looking at the terrain that was in front of the group. "Grass...?" Pure green grass. No corruption, no disease or rot, simply pure grass. Belial looked around, turning his head swiftly.

"This is..?" He looked at a sign that had the words, 'Emerald City ahead' written on them in black ink. "Damn... Have we finally made it...?" Belial said, chuckling a bit.
