"Let's just leave it. It clearly isn't following us, so it not getting to Emerald City is better..." Belial said. The mist that was on the boat continued to release sounds of repulsion and contorted words, but it wasn't following them.. for now.David jumped off the boat, and started walking alongside Belial.
“what about that weird…evil mist thing that was following us? I wonder what it’s gonna do.” David said, glancing back towards the boat as he walked.
The lot of them all battled against the clones that Verndari had created of them. It appeared as though they were naturally getting stronger, allowing them to gain an edge, however small, over their clones. However, they were all holding off on unleashing their full power again just in case the clones could also utilize their full power as well. Instead, Yamato and Zonolo fought through their clones, inching their way toward Verndari. As the four rushed toward Verndari, they were all blown back by its mighty roar. It didn't damage them, but it did send them backwards and prevent them from striking, as the booming sound waves of its roar acted almost like a barrier. This seemed to imply that the creature didn't want them in that proximity. However, if they could manage to get there, victory would likely be assured.
Then, Verndari did something unexpected. Clay shot out from its body, but it wasn't to restrain or attack them at all. Instead, they moved, and took the forms of Zonolo, Yamato, Mira and Boros. Boros looked at the duplicates of himself, gauging their power by their aura.
"My clones are equal in power to me..." Boros said.
"It appears to be the case for all of us..." Mira said.
"Huh, they sure do like jumping us in numbers, don't they?" Zonolo said.
"I don't mind one bit!" Yamato said, "I'll take you all on!"
And thus, it went from 4 against 1 to 4 against 496,000,000,001. The motley crew took their combat stances and prepared to face, well, themselves...
(I'm tempted, but I won't. It'd be hilarious, though...)(Don't lol.)
(Welp, guess I'm sticking with my side story...)(Kind of shitty, nor would it make sense lol. I'd just tell you to yeetus deletus.)
David was a walking corpse, shambling and lurching forward like a zombie. His eyes dim, nearly devoid of life. his body was emaciated, his flesh torn and melted to the bone. he barely resembled his former self as he continued forward. He was no demon, no special breed of human. and his resistance wasn't helping in the slightest to protect him from the overwhelming corruption that was all around them. He was tired beyond belief as if he had been walking for decades. The beast tossed and tumbled around, it's own weight and mindlessness making it a herculean feat that it was even walking, but it did. It tripped and tumbled, kicking up the diseased water and spraying it towards the group.
It soon walked away, continuing to travel endlessly until the sea of plagues was purified someday. They continued to travel for weeks on end, sheer willpower keeping Belial from collapsing from the corruption. It wasn't normal, Belial was already a demon, a corrupted being, so things like this shouldn't have deterred him in the slightest...
"A little longer..." Days and weeks passed as they traveled, the corruption slowly, very slowly, leaving them. They were closer than ever before to their destination.
(I know, just being a bit dramatic lol)(Dude, we're like 4 posts away I'll let you know when we get to the point you can join in the main shit lol.)
Belial's willpower was something to behold. His eyes burned with determination as he continued to provide food and water for Kiara in her sickness, along with forcefully healing himself and King Tiger so that they could continue their journey.David was a walking corpse, shambling and lurching forward like a zombie. "....so....close" David muttered. trying to motivate himself to keep pushing foward.
