God to Villain - Steel Hell (RP Thread)

fc6oDbj.jpg

Rain poured to the grounds of Dusk City, the alleyways painted in liquid. Rats crawled through the muck of the desolate region, all manner of scum crawling into the streets of Dusk City to do their business.

And in the deepest, darkest parts of the city...

...

"Engen..."

A man walked into a dark, cold room, a flickering light keeping the room alight. It was empty, devoid of any obvious furniture or anything to brighten the mood. It was akin to a... solitary confinement chamber, cut off from the outside world and any other form of contact.

"I agreed to bring them here because I thought I'd get something out of this. Now, I know you'd never lie to me, but..."

"Quiet, Mujin. They'll come."

With him, stood another. He hid in the darkness, outside of sight, but he domineered over the air... His voice made the space around him tremble, and caused the man that stood before him to shudder, the power seeping into his veins. The man, seemingly named Mujin, shook his head, putting his hands in his pockets, a sly grin plastered across the dull man's face. He breathed out.

The two men, clouded in mystery, awaited their partners.

"You sure they'll come, Engen...?"

"They'll come."

"You said that already, but..."

"I told you to wait, Mujin... No villain worth a damn would pass up a job this profitable. Just have faith."

"Faith in what...?"

"Faith in villainy."

"Having faith in a villain...? Great idea..."

And they continued to wait.

"Mind giving me a briefing on them...?"

"You doubt to much, Mujin..."

"I at least deserve a briefing..."

"....."

"Come on, Engen. A briefing. I need info on who I'm working with."

"...."

"...Please?"

"...Fine."

"Great!"

"...."

"...Mind starting?"

"...Alarak Tal'tharim. A fighter. Previously a rich kid, but kicked out of her household after murdering a servant at the age of 5. Currently a mercenary. Her Soul Edge is called Psionic. Its effects aren't publically known."

"Sounds hard to deal with. Next?"

"..."

"...Next??"

"Michael. I don't know her past. Her Soul Edge is unknown."

"Wish you had more info, but, what can you do...? Next."

"Cato Hyatt. His past is irrelevant. His Soul Edge is unknown."

"....Amazing briefings."

"You wanted information."

"This isn't information..."

"You want it or not?"

"...Fine. Next."

"Zack Johns. Known to the public as the "Painter Master". A first-rate villain, with a versatile Soul Edge that allows him to distort reality."

"Reality Distortion...? Heh. Intriguing."

"It's powerful. It's why I hired him. But it's not all-powerful."

"Obviously. Next?"

"Kiara Merlo. An unknown past, with a pathetically weak Soul Edge. But she has potential. She can grow, if put to work."

"You've always had an eye for potential, haven't you, Engen...? Heh... Next?"

"Antony Collins. Another first-rate Villain. His powers are devastating, uncontrollable, but strong when tempered. He'll be useful for some muscle."

"Is that so...? I'll keep an eye on him, then. Next?"

"Mimic. Once again, a first-rate Villain. Digging up info on him his hard, though. He's never gone public with his skills, and the Hero Association has no file on him."

"He's discreet, then?"

"Very. I didn't have time to do anymore digging."

"It'll be interesting to meet him, then... Next?"

"Finally, a woman known as Tooha. Not a lot of info on her to begin with."

"Haaaa... Well, it's a fine enough briefing. I know what to expect... somewhat, then. I guess we just need to wait, then..."

Mujin crossed his arms, staring at the door as his teeth collided with his lower lip, a shudder running through his body.

"Don't get to excited, Mujin..."

"Oh, I won't... I just... wonder. Wonder who'd join us in this Hell..."

And as such, they waited for the new arrivals...

The large flying machine began to take off into the stormy night, thunder booming in the clouds as the group of outlaws took off into the sky.

"Soooooo.... How about we get to know each other?" Mujin said happily as they entered the air... The helicopter seemed to be piloting itself.

Cato glanced at him shortly before returning to his phone, switching the game after getting a "999" score on the snake game. This time, he opens a chess game, where he opens his internet to play online.

In his mind, he honestly didn't want to go first as he isn't the type to spill the beans that quickly in front of a man he barely knew, or at least... what he assumed to know about him through analysis. The same can be said for the people he judged through the same method. He views them to be... somewhat dangerous, given that some are appearance-wise powerful, like Alarak for example.

Mujin frowned, "Oh, that's no fun, though! This is going to be quite the long trip, so, we should make some light conversation to keep ourselves entertained!"

"Well, at least someone is willing to conversate among you lot!" Mujin said, smiling at Zack's introduction.

Mimic rolled his eyes, his finger tapping nervously against his knee as he stared out the helicopter door. He didn’t like this, didn’t like being flown through the air with people he didn’t know, using a power he didn’t understand, to a job so insane he would’ve laughed in the man’s face if he hadn’t offered so much money. The tapping of his finger gradually became more agitated, the man grimacing to himself.

“…Shouldn’t have gotten myself into this shit.” He thought. His eyes continued to scan the environment outside the vehicle, saying nothing.

"Yeah, I guess it would be hard to get the job if we didn't get along, at least as if we were classmates who talk from time to time."
"Well, it'd be easier for us to trust each other if some of these sticklers would talk..." Mujin said with a light chuckle. He pulled out a cigar, lighting it seemingly with a snap of his fingers, his gloves seeming to possess a peculiar heat generating property when he snapped his fingers, akin to a box of matches.

"...I know his name's Zack now..." Kiara said, breaking the silence a bit. "...And I'm still as scared as I was a minute ago...I'm not sure I'll trust anyone more if they speak or not."

Checkmate, Cato's opponent blundered and he won by mating him using his pawn. This was the 20th game, and he was listening closely to Mujin and the others speaking.
"Well, I guess because I was a little late I couldn't introduce myself, I'm Zack Johns and I hope we can complete this mission or at least not die"

Cato looked at this... "Zack" person, clearly a painter given his appearance.
"...I know his name's Zack now..." Kiara said, breaking the silence a bit. "...And I'm still as scared as I was a minute ago...I'm not sure I'll trust anyone more if they speak or not."
He glanced over to the others, that being Alarak and Kiara, keeping an eye as he continues his 21st chess match in the background. "Ideally, it would be best to not share their identities. I mean, a group of outlaws forced to being paid to work for a man attempting to overthrow and dwindle the hero association would be hesitant to speak, lest they're deliberately doing it for a purpose or lack thereof." he thought.

"The best way to lose fear is by distracting the human mind through doing other activities, in this way the body will take as non-threatening and forget this fear so that you will be more relaxed, or well that's what I do, it always works for me"

Alarak laughed out loud, not even saying anything while Michael sighed

"They'll figure it out anyway, it's not like, say, my soul edge is anything mistakable for something else

"Well..." Mujin took a deep drag of his cigar, releasing a puff of smoke which was swiftly drowned out of the still open helicopter door, letting in cold wind and rainwater.

"I can understand that some of you still don't trust each other. Or... any of you. But we'll be working together for a while, and there's no turning back at this point. So we'll need to learn to get along if we want to make it." Mujin said, finally somewhat serious. His face went stern, the man blowing out another puff of smoke.

Michael smiled, that was definitely true, but she stayed silent and nodded, while Alarak didn't seem to really care

"I'm Kiara...some people just call me Merlo." She said, sort of slumped in her seat...she looked as if she practically regretted saying her name.

"And hello there, Ms. Kiara. My name is Mujin!" Mujin said, he'd already presented his name prior, but figured it'd make her more comfortable if he tried to appear more... approachable, in a conversation.

"...Are most of them older or younger than you?" She perked up a slight bit, but still looked somewhat sad. Kiara couldn't help but be curious...she never had much of a family herself.

"Believe it or not, I'm actually the youngest sibling... It's quite a handful, being the youngest." Mujin said, blowing out another small puff of smoke after taking a light drag of his cigar.

"That's interesting, tho, I haven't really known what it feels like to have something like siblings."

(Alright, I'm back!)

...

A few hours later, the helicopter began to stagnate in the air, beginning to lower into the clouds. Seemingly, the group had reached their destination, the propellers beginning to slow their rapid spinning as Mujin closed the doors of the helicopter so that no more rain and ice got into the flying machine as they lowered through the clouds.

"Looks like we made it! And alive, at that! I thought we'd get struck down by lightning." Mujin said enthusiastically.
