That's what happens when your manga focuses on a literal Jesus Christ like figure in a verse where hard work and dedication are suppose to triumph over talent.
You know IDK if this is unpopular or not, but I believe if Naruto wasn't born the way he was he wouldn't have lasted long.

I honestly doubt Naruto being Ninja Jesus was something Kishi planned on

Tbf the war arc shafted plenty of characters and in terms of visual feats Sakura has actually shown more impressive feats than Lee (most notably punching the final boss in the head, sure it's an outlier but a feat nonetheless).

But no amount of hardwork and training is going to help you catch up to characters that are literally blessed by godlike aliens to be always better than you (fate is a cruel mistress indeed).

Funny how at this point we have had Zoro, Sanji and Ace but not Luffy.
At the same time, other shonen protagonists like Naruto, Ichigo and Natsu also have been there.
Honestly, I can't think of any matchup for Luffy, aside from the shitty Mr. Fantastic, and especially not a fair one (Luffy vs Toriko would be fun, but it's a stomp)
He doesn't even seem to be requested, for some reason.

Luffy has Natsu, Plastic Man, and Popeye. Pick your poison on who Luffy dies too.
One is a Fairy Tail win, two is the DC slaughterhouse, and three is he dies to toon force.

I can’t really think of any other Touhou matchups that are likely to appear in Death Battle. Like maybe Sakuya vs Hit or Homura or maybe some Undertale vs Touhou matchup. Though if we give it enough of a following, I think Cirno vs Aqua could become popular.
