Since we're doing all this matchup rating again, I thought I'd make one of these for a non-Gunvolt character for once.
Byleth has a pretty unique archetype, even among fictional characters, so finding matchups for them isn't the easiest thing in the world (Also from here on out I'll be referring to Byleth as "he" because I refuse to believe his god-awful rule 63-on-a-****-site-looking female design was made and approved by Nintendo and isn't instead a collective horny hallucination between the entire human race). Oh, and also
major unmarked spoilers for Three Houses and other games.
Honestly, The One and Good Alts could more or less be changed out with one another.
Chiron and
All Might are both teachers, like Byleth. However, I think the latter's kind of unlikely since All Might's already appeared in DB against by far his best matchup, even if both have a similarity in just how inspiring they are. Chiron and Byleth both taught legendary heroes in their times, but still were as strong if not stronger than their students (Unlike a lot of Combat Teachers in fiction). They were less training the next generation and more so doing their job. I don't know much about Fate/Grand Order, but
Mash seems like a perfect matchup (Though my lack of knowledge stopped me from putting her at number one). Both were going to be used as vessels for another, more powerful being (Sothis for Byleth and Galahand for Mash). Mash is an artificial human made for this purpose, while Byleth's mother Sitri was a homunculus. However, even when inhabited by the beings intended for them, said beings stayed in the background, letting them remain individual. Both even get abilities manipulating time from this.
The people in Fine? are honestly better matchups than the title implies. Honestly, I only put them in Fine? because there were too many characters in Good Alts.
Blade has similarities in that she also gets her power from a long dead being, as well as having a similar weapon to the Sword of the Creator.
Franken Stein is another teacher and honestly probably fits better than All Might not including charisma, since he fits the theme of not just raising the next generation, but still being superior to their students despite this. The Fire Emblem symbol from Smash represents a
Fire Emblem Battle Royale between all the main characters that are in Smash Brothers.
Eh is where we start getting matchups I don't actually want. Ivy just has a similar weapon, while Kakashi probably could be higher but I honestly don't care about Naruto at all.
No Thanks includes Diavolo, who's only connection is time manipulation. It also has Ike on his own. While it's a great matchup with lots of connections, we don't need a same series DB with only two fighters.
