DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Superman fought Goku who had such form progression and it was all good, Kratos should be fine as well
Not related to anything, but that detail was one of my favorite parts of Goku vs Superman 1, how the fight kept escalating with Goku using increasingly powerful transformations and Superman holding back less and less.

Ngl GvS3 up until like maybe world made of cardboard is forgettable. Then MUI shows up and it's all gas until the end

(Still don't think it tops GvS2 canyon scene in terms of raw choreography)

Which makes me wonder, how many fights had a character just fight closer at their full power while the other needed forms to grow in power

Outside the dragon ball episodes fighting characters whom have no forms

I've actually seen Twitter users who take the task of gathering proof of how Goku is horrible person and a terrible character yadda, yadda and they state they "have the mission to prove how awful Goku is to the world" (who also threw some pretty messed up comments at Japanese fans discussing on how Goku was written on different values such as self improvement, dedication and sacrifice, compared to western superheroes who are more about helping others, responsibility, and putting the need of others first). Wouldn't be surprised there were other people doing the same for other characters they don't like.
goku was never a "hero" confirmed from writer dbz super didnt not help either made goku look extra dumb(the writer was also getting too old) it like how people extra dial up flaws from othesr pov "oh he "just" a "funny" person homer/sponge-bob became extra dumb as seasons past being written from different people ( we got a point squid-ward just shat himself )

What a fcking odyssey of a post.

We start with the term 'dbz super' and end with Squidward sh*tting himself

Yeah, I get what you mean. There's a term for that, "flanderization"? Essentially an aspect or aspects of a character are increasingly exaggerated and eventually just take over their personality altogether. Happens a lot when a series drags for too long, Spongebob having a pretty bad case of it from what I know.

I also think that they went too far in the other direction when trying to distance Goku from his straight hero portrayal in Z, and they made him too childish and naive, to the point he came as dumb and irritating, rather than endearing. And to be fair, while Goku isn't a hero like Super Sentai, Kamen Rider or many Super Robot pilots that are there to protect the innocent, save the Earth and ready to give everything for the sake of people, he still embodies many values that in Asia are seen as admirable and selfless, despite his many flaws. There was a pretty interesting vid on this, but I can't find it, it was on Twitter and not Youtube.
