DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Theres a difference between losing powers because the power source was destroyed, and not being able to have 2 powers at once. Schrodinger and level 0 cannot be used together as alucard wouldn't exist, greek realm and the norse realm did exist together at one point, also don't the blades of chaos still work despite being greek magic?
Okay but Kratos didn't get any Norse magic until after Greece was destroyed. Giving him his Greek magic would be like if DB reused All Might but gave him both his regular powers and the Iron Might suit or if they used Samus again but gave her every ability from every armor she's ever worn to create some kind of singular OC armor . A Kratos with both Greek and Norse magic does not and cannot exist within the lore since Kratos did not travel to Midgard until after Greece was destroyed. The Blades of Chaos still having power is never explained but both games make sure to point out that the blades are special and unique even to Brok and Sindri. Ragnarok even has Surtr say that the blades are infused with primordial fire which implies that said magic is different from the kind that Kratos normally uses.

Also isnt kratos at his peak i greek era? Norse self is toned down canonically, still powerful but not near his prime
Nah the only point Kratos is stronger in greek era is with power of hope, otherwise his current norse self is equal to his peak strength in GOW (Although tbh you can make an argument either way for his greek or norse self having a slight AP advantage).

Didnt Kratos say greek era was tougher and stronger then norse era? Also the director

Nah, he only said he's killed gods greater than Heimdall specifically (Which only really covers the stronger gods in Greece, doesn't imply every one of them were superior). Kratos directly calls Thors blows as heavy as any he's ever felt, plus Thor is only 1 of 2 characters able to knock Kratos out of his spartan rage in a fight with the other being Hercules, the director considered Odin vs Zeus a debatable fight, and in terms of raw physical strength Thor and Tyr (Who Kratos beats) is superior to him Unless you're weekly and think Thor is stronger than Kratos for some reason

Kratos in GOW 2018 is much weaker than his greek self, but by the time Ragnarok happens he's back to his old levels of strength.

I see, heh, interesting

your talking about lore wise, theoretically. He could have had both if Greek magic still lives. Lore wise he can’t because the source is destroyed but in terms of a vs sense. He would have access to it because this is a deathbattle, not a crossover

I hate how we got left with a cliff hanger with battle beast's daughter going on a bloodlust quest (paralleling how levy jr's is also on the somewhat same but foolish quest.) kill mark, not anyone them know that mark didn't even caused their fathers death but by their own actions. (BB got killed by Thragg while levy (I think) by robot or the many AU/AT robots/)

the sins of their fathers literally carrying them to be an actual curse bc if it continues, I don't think levy jr would handle the fact that mark never actually did anything to his father & he was just insane for all of his memories where from other realities, BB daughter wouldn't care honestly.)
