DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Dunno about that, but I think the real ending that'll surprise you all is that The Winner is Metal Sonic. That's what I bet my net worth on, anyway. Should be a sure thing, but hopefully the payout comes before these loan sharks break through my last barricades.
Did I get it right? I got my $378,293 bet on a surprise Metal Sonic win right, right? I'm getting that payout I need, right?

My internet's good enough to post here but too shaky to watch the video or check my payout status rn, think my loan sharks' knee-breaking goons have cut the cables as they're pummeling down the walls. They're, uh... they're getting pretty close to getting in here...

Wildest part to me is people using DB as an actual betting/gambling platform. Like seriously, I like DB to some extent but even if I was a major fan I wouldn't bet a singular penny on the show, after all, it is literally a show. Betting on horses gives you a higher chance of winning than this, it is a 50/50 flip that makes it seem like it is a 50/50 flip when in reality there's a good amount of reasons that make the outcome relatively predictable every time and the only thing stopping one from noticing it is bias towards a character.
You're thinking way too small. Even the episode itself had a gambling advert! Now, here's the roadmap to escaping the ratrace via profiting from Death Battle Betting (DBB):
  1. Make profiles for thematically-linked characters X and Y.
  2. Strongly suggest that X wins on the profiles.
  3. This part may require insider help. Get DB to do an episode of X vs Y, at least keep an eye out for it.
  4. As soon as the announcement is made or DB is otherwise so far into production that they couldn't change the "X wins" verdict if they wanted to, revamp profiles to say Y wins by miles. This is important & makes for more profit than just the insider info on who wins a 50-50 match alone gives. A close match means less profit from bets but if everyone thinks Y wins...
  5. Most people will bet on Y in droves thinking it's easy money due to the new "Y wins by miles" profiles. But you already know DB did everything based on "X wins" profiles.
  6. Profit!

I'm half-joking. Don't think it'll be any big deal, but it will not surprise me if a minor gambling scene continues to grow around DB & people try to game it. That one guy won like $50k from Hulk beating Godzilla, right? There's something there.

Who's the character that calls out to ruby right before she activates the silver eyes? I checked the description but there isn't even any additional VA's listed

Pop ups that I find important

Popup: Grimm are a creation of the God of Darkness as a representation of malignance and destruction. The Silver Eyes can counter Grimm powers with its "light of life". This is shown in her battle with the Apathy, where Ruby's Silver Eyes restored her drained willpower.

Popup: Ruby's Dust should be comparable to Weiss', which was able to kill a Queen Lancer that had previously survived a 3.6 kiloton explosion.

Popup: The Ace Ops were also able to contend somewhat with Maiden Penny, who has a similarly impressive feat of lifting Amity Colosseum, though even as a group they struggled against her.

Popup: Soul utilized Chain Resonance to amplify Maka's stats for portions of the Asura fight. However, this was a much smaller amp than the Black Blood Dress, and he had stopped doing so before Asura's crater feat

Popup: While Maka has said that Black☆Star is stronger than her, she frequently keeps up in speed. The two can also utilized Chain Resonance, which requires equal contribution. Maka's statements also do not factor in her Black Blood Dress.

Popup: The Silver Eyes provided Ruby with minor resistance to emotional manipulation, but Madness wavelengths can induce those effects to targets that have resisted such powers. Ruby was also affected by Emerald's Hallucinations, making it unlikely she can negate Madness.

Denying Ruby's loss when it's damn near closest thing to the people who own her and rwby as a whole saying she loses is a hill to die on and a half.. I never thought i'd see the day.. it should've been clear the moment Maka's preview title said something along the lines of 'can maka albarn chop ruby rose???' in the title

Actually taking this in mind it's much worse than I think it is cause it really IS just denial at that point

Edit: Anyways good episode

I have no idea why Ruby winded up for a big strike then just for some reason passed out or had her aura run out and then bam silver eyes.

Soul Adagio: Working akin to noise cancelling, Soul's Piano can play a wavelength that is opposite of his target's own. When the opposing Wavelength or the "Antiphase Wavelength" reaches an opponent, it cancels out their abilities. This causes the target to be in a lethargic, trance-like state

man i really wish silver eyes was more of a super form to balance fighting Maka Black blood Dress

and people spiting RWBY over previous matches and general distaste for the series (again, speaking from personal experience). Up until this past week it was a 75/25 split but the fact that the DB and DBM subreddits as well as DBwiki spent this past week preemptively celebrating Ruby's death to the point that the admins of those subreddits had to ban the act of doing so pushes it up to 40.
...honestly, this is pretty fair. I was never invested in RWBY outside of some acquaintances liking it, but even I felt like they were going overboard. Plus, as someone who has seen someone they like/used to like being mindlessly (and repeatedly) slandered, I can get how it'd feel obnoxious.

He did not stop using Chain Resonance at any point in the fight with asura

Chain Resonance has never once been stated to require equal contributio . On thecontrary, both kid and blackstar state that when they use chain resonance, maka is the weak link and that Chain Resonance is her way of picking up the slack. chain resonance equalized their power, it does not use equal contribution.

Maka has also never induced Madness in anyone but herself

Can I has scans?
well own her and rwby as a whole is a stretch cause iirc there's a whole thing going on with that after roosterteeth closed but the point was moreso since ben and chad being so familiar with those who at least worked on the show, I think their word (as well along with the research team) has much more weight towards the verdict with this episode especially more than any other one

cause then it'd be like.. why would they lie about a character they hold so close like that when it's them wanting to do this episode well for the sake of the friend's it's made for?

Brother the fight is over

mostly because it's purely ruby rose, anyway.

Well how about that?

People who may as well be second if not third to the creators saying she loses shouldn't be so hard to accept man, if you think they're lying with RUBY ROSE especially there's not much weight to stand on here

the hill is sinking!!
I don't think theyre lying, i think their research team is lying, that or they're just complete ass at their job
