New Year, New Anime Recommendation for Bambu

Status
Not open for further replies.
The yearly request has arrived. As in the years before, I will accept anime recommendations to be the one anime I watch this year, on the off chance you people convince me that anime, as a genre, is not one of humanity's worst sins.

Last year, y'all suggested Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Was alright. Nothing incredible, did not finish watching but I think I got to all the bits people do the haha over.

So I'm asking again: bring me your best. The score to beat is Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Some pointers:
  • I prefer an English dub. I don't care what you think about that fact.
  • I find I care less about animation quality than most of y'all. Rough animation is fine to me, as long as its good otherwise.
  • I'd rather not watch 50+ episodes.
  • I'd rather watch something on a streaming platform than something on a **** ad-addled website.

Your suggestions:
  • Gankutsuou (by Zaratthustra)
  • Owari no Seraph (by azontr)
  • Tower of God (by Excel616)
  • High School of the Dead (by Excel616)
  • God of Highschool (by Excel616)
  • Fire Force (by Excel616)
  • Deadman Wonderland (by Excel616)
  • Sirius the Yeager (by Small_Ophion)
  • Vanitas no Carte (by Small_Ophion)
  • Steins;gate (by Rikimarox2)
  • Fate/zero (by Artorimachi_Meteoraft)
  • Vivy: Flourite Eyes Song (by Witchy)
  • Berserk: 1997 (by Mantidil)
  • Violet Evergarden (by Mantidil)
  • Cowboy Bebop (by Mantidil)
  • Trigun Stamped (by Excel616)
  • Assassination Classroom (by Excel616)
  • Spy x Family (by Excel616)
  • Chainsaw Man (by Excel616)
  • Black Lagoon (by BlackDarkness679)
  • One Punch Man (by Excel616)
Blood Lad It's very good, I highly recommend it :3

you have both too many suggestions and recommended one of the most truly godforsaken things I have ever watched, Bleach

literally Bleach was the instant I realized most anime was shit

Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous.
Animes are stereotyped as having the most horrendous CGI known to man, but the HnK anime beats this stereotype by being possibly the most beautiful and gorgeous-looking 3D show of all time. Not all of it is 3D, but they do use wonky 2D animation magic to make all the scenes they struggled to create in 3D actually look... y'know, 3D. The story is also interesting as well, as it's about human-looking beings that are actually made out of gems and minerals and stuff going to war against these lunarian-buddhist-cloud-people-things. Since the rock people can replace their body parts in a plethora of ways, this allows access to very interesting character development with the protagonist, who is a lot younger compared to the other rock people and because of that constantly gets into accidents that results in them gaining new body parts and completely changing as a person.

jojos bizarre adventure, it technically has 50+ episodes but its chopped up into 8 self contained stories (only 6 are animated right now)

literally Bleach was the instant I realized most anime was shit
@Arc7Kuroi
Damn it, I can't tag

Anyway I cannot believe anyone has not recommended Attack on Titans, Infidels
Aside that I think you will enjoy Dororo and finally the anime you will watch before going intothe visual novel "Dies Irae Amantes Amentes"

Looking over the compiled list (OP has been updated btw)... I'm realizing the bizarre overlap of anime recommendations that battleboarders have with my younger sister. I think like half of what I can remember her watching is up there. Soul Eater, Blue Exorcist, and Your Lie in April standing out amongst others.

In addition to bolding, I now cross out disqualifications. Being a battle shonen or horny is reason for disqualification.

I'm not good at persuading people so I asked an A.i to do this for me:

"Id:Invaded" is an exciting mystery and action anime with a gripping story and complex characters. The plot follows Sakaido, a detective who enters a virtual world to solve real-life crimes and uncover the mystery behind a series of murders. The anime features high-quality animation and an amazing soundtrack that helps create a tense and immersive atmosphere.

The anime also features interesting and deep characters, each with their own stories and motivations. The series stands out for its complex and intriguing storyline, with several twists and turns. Additionally, the anime has a unique approach on human mind and personality, which adds an additional layer of depth to the story.

In summary, "Id:Invaded" is an exciting and intriguing anime that combines action, mystery and psychology to create a unique and immersive experience. If you like complex stories and deep characters, this is a series you can't miss. I strongly recommend you give it a chance.

Redo it only this time focusing more on the psychological aspect of the anime

"Id:Invaded" is an anime that delves into the psychological aspects of the human mind, through a thrilling and mysterious plot. The story follows Sakaido, a detective who enters a virtual world, known as the "id well," in order to solve real-life murders by exploring the criminal's mind. The anime features a unique approach on the human mind and personality, which adds an additional layer of depth to the story.
The anime also features high-quality animation and an amazing soundtrack that helps create a tense and immersive atmosphere. It has a complex and intriguing storyline, with several twists and turns, and it explores the themes of trauma, guilt and redemption.
The characters in the anime are deep and interesting, each with their own stories and motivations. The anime also explores the relationship between the detective and the criminal and how it affects their mental state.
In summary, "Id:Invaded" is an anime that offers a unique and intense psychological experience, by combining mystery and action. If you enjoy psychological thrillers, this is an anime you can't miss. It's a series that explores the human mind in a captivating and thought-provoking way.

I've got more anime suggestions, and i can't believe i didn't recommend these earlier, since they're phenomenal.

Blood Blockade Battlefront has an amazing anime, great animation quality which rivals even today's best even through it was made back in 2015, objectively has the best OST's in anime, don't @ me (personal favorites are "Catch me if you can", "World goes round" and "On my Own"). The writing's really good since it's wrote by the same dude who made Trigun and Gungrave. And the comedy in the show is second to none, the dub's also really good, so if you're someone who likes dub's (and just good anime in general), then this show is right up your alley.

Gungrave's also a good choice, a really good story, Brandon Heat's the definition of a chad.

Some other good choices are 91 Days, Phantom: Requiem of the Phantom, Jormungand and Death Parade if you're more into story focus shows rather than your usual shounen affairs.

Oh yeah since you mention it in your profile, I'm also gonna take my shot at convincing you to watch Hellsing Ultimate maybe.

Decent animation, 10 episodes (though they're longer than the standard 20-25 minutes, closer to 40 mostly), don't know about availability but I imagine you can find it somewhere.

Watch it if you want to see an absolutely blood-soaked supernatural romp evolve into a war on the nature of man, monster and God. Also a shitton of nerding out about Western religion and literature.

Also also has some of the most hilariously over-the-top badass characters that manage to be so ridiculous they switch over to cool again.

Mr bambu if you don’t fate zero

you I also recommended fate unlimited blade works.

But of course if you want comedy watch the english dub of fate/grand carnival

Fate is horny. It is immediately disqualified.

An unfortunate reality in which we live. It even looks pretty good, but watching it would bring upon me many curses to the point that by the time I finished I would look like Lord Voldemort at the end of Deathly Hallows.

Cowboy BeBop *****, missing out.

He is a man of the highest culture you reprobate (the culture being not thinking with his second brain).

None asked the chewing toy of doggos

Not recommending anything (yet) but who tf suggested Kill La Kill when it's one of the ******** anime known to man?
Yeah.

To be fair KlK horny is moreso ludicrous to the point of absurdity than anything else, but it's still not something I'd recommend myself, even if it is my favorite anime...ish.

Reminds me of Made in Abyss. Like, the anime is good, the world is intriguing, the story is good, but certain "factors" make it so i wouldn't be comfortable recommending it to anyone, lol.

Oh I have no problem with appropriateness, I even started a non-weeb friend on it back during Christmas break. It's just that having known Bambers for the past few years, it is NOT a Bambers' show lmao.

I highly suggest Trigun's anime from the 90s.

Honestly it's much more akin to that of a western styled comic book more than it is to that of your typical anime. Despite the animation being from the 90's it actually still looks good, and the plot is something I think you'd personally enjoy.
