I would say that the research team heavily pushed the idea of using new franchises this season. The idea was that if season 8 was a legacy season, then season 9 should be the "new" season.

This is purely also "my opinion", but I think the show needed to make an effort to use newer stuff like demon slayer because a lot of stuff from the 80s/90s is becoming less culturally relevant. Not that we shouldn't use stuff like that, but you can see Omnilander did huge numbers and that's probably because both have massive active fanbases.

In terms of comic fights they're pretty much always gonna be big, but I personally like it when the other opponent isn't also a comic character.

Cool to see that my RTs are getting some use.

I'm pumped as well. I always wanted to see this fight covered by Death Battle and its a pretty popular fight that's been in pop culture for a couple of decades at this point. Presumably, they'll just ignore Jason X since that would cause.... issues.

They can use most of Jason X as like 80% of the movie is regular Jason, it's only the Uber Jason stuff that necessarily gets the axe unless we want the equivalent of Doomsday fighting a normal ass serial killer.

My mistake there. I was talking about Uber-Jason, the movie Jason X should be perfectly useable as a source. Plus it contains a decent swath of Jason's more high-end showings like the absurdly impressive steel door stab or him just eating a few hundred AP future bullets.

Well I can understand that there's not much active 80s/90s shows to bring on let alone real big MU involving them outside a few but I think they could still offer something

She might eventually get one but currently she doesn’t seem to. Her story is still early on.

she also gets stat stomped outside of speed. She’s be FTL vs her MHS+ which is like a 10,000 times difference iirc, but her AP is getting downgraded to 8B iirc which would not bode well with Mikasa’s 7A peak.

until Surge gets a super form/equivalent she gets completely countered and memed on.

Yeah It's just a joke post, with the joke being "sponge OP lol". I'm poking a little bit of fun at power scaling in general, but I'm clearly not being that serious about it.

I knew we where gonna make a "can spongebob beat Goku" joke in the official script since it was originally finished, so I thought it would be funny to take the meme seriously and run with it.

Honestly at this point, Rooster Teeth/Ben Singer should just snap and absorb G1 and Ultra into the Death Battle project. A lot of the members in working on the blog are already de facto researchers.

Sonic verse is interesting especially considering that you can find reference to Detective Conan in IDW comic. [IDW Sonic the Hedgehog Issue 48 page five] We already see Future Trunks as a hedgehog.
 
At that moment in the fight where Aquaman looks at his alternate versions i thought DB was recognizing spongebob was too much for him and he would fuse with his other versions, becoming his composite self. (Wich would still probably lose due to that ludicrous speed + Plot hax)
