Death Battle Season Eight Discussion Thread (2) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Pros:
  • Add two new series
  • Very thematic
  • Huge animation potential: both of them fight in unconventional way (both attacks through time) so it would be one of the most creative episode in terms of ''choreography''
  • Suprasingly high chance of happening


Cons:
  • Would have terrible research: there are many obscure feats for both of them. Most people don't know, that Lavos is multiversal

  • Thematic
  • Interactions between them would be funny and interesting
  • Animation potential: both have creative and weird powers that can counter each other
  • Can have at least decent research
  • Very high chance of happening

Cons:
  • Another L for Naruto character

Talking about wild, I am surprised DIO vs Al did that well. Ofc its the fact of VS audience, but unfortunately looking at S6 fights, it clearly shows DB eps do well when mainstream stuff is relevant such as with Marvel vs Marvel (so boring matches can bring views lol). But then some like Link vs Cloud didnt do well. Sure Jojo has been memed a lot lately, but its not that big, is it? And all Hellsing is TFS series.

Maybe ep quality also brings legs, but its still peculiar to me.

Technically recent release of Shazam and Captain Marvel movies gave some hype for the episode.

Probably Link vs Cloud 2 just came out not at that time. I bet it would be hype if it'll come out at BotW or FF7 remake.

Or if Chief vs Samus will out as this season's finale episode, it will get many views via Halo Infinite.

I don't mind Zero coming back given while Metal was decent but wasn't his best
 
come Sunday we'll see who's the combatants of the season if it ain't GalaCron

And it better be good Madara vs Aizen is the fight between iconic shounen villains and whatever comes after that better be solid to justify it's placement ad a season finale
 
I know Halloween was over a month ago, but I think I've just come up with a dream MU for that season (don't ask me why it's taken this long)

Miang / Myyah Hawwa / Deus (Xenogears)
vs
Achi / Kachi / Earth Mimicry (Sin and Punishment)

  • Both are neutral-antagonistic forces who assume one role or form, for the purpose of resurrecting or summoning a godlike being to ultimately destroy earth (Deus / Earth Mimicry).
  • Both can be interpreted as the final bosses of their respective games, or party to those who fight it (Uroboros being a form of Miang that Krelian summons after Deus's defeat, and Earth Mimicry being the final boss of SotE, or playing party to Isa Jo's Final Form in SotS, depending on which game you're playing).
  • Both can be interpreted as around Planet level, depending on the form in question.
  • Both have design aspects that are just cryptic and trippy af.

Nami has stealth, acrobatics, fights with a staff, has illusion creation, can turn herself invisible...
Nami tags Luffy and Sanji and co. (which means 11.5 megatons TNT to 12 gigatons TNT in power AND Mach 11 to 13 c in speed by Death Battle standard)
... this also means Nami does not get AP stomped. What a rare case for a MU.

When some people yell for Nami (One Piece) to be executed by Yuffie Kisaragi, Yuffie is not a notable bo staff user and she is not primarily a weather manipulator - she is more a techno girl. And we all know whom Yuffie is comparable to.

People who slightly watch into or even play Halo Infinite and Metroid Dread will realise how Master Chief and Samus Aran are totally different characters. I am not even talking about how uglily stompier than even Korra vs Storm this matchup is.

Oh Master Chief vs Doom Slayer (2021) serves one thing Mastamus cannot - to debunk Master Chief vs Doomguy (2011).

I do not know how "half-hyped" Samus Aran vs Mega Man X can play out but will at least be something I can enjoy.

Or... (maybe no one ask) Samus Aran vs Doom Slayer.

People don't really want this MU for connections, they want it because it's the legacy MU, it probably has more legacy than any of the episodes we've seen in season 8 so far (Except maybe Madara vs Aizen)
Tho i admit, having Samus vs Chief as the finale would suck ass, this just doesn't feel like the finale

I can see the illusion ability possibly being a way for Nami even the fight with her and weather
 
Is it just me or do Kirby and Puyo Puyo have something of a rivalry? I've seen no less than 4 semi-popular Kirby vs Puyo Puyo matchups.

Kirby vs Arle, Meta Knight vs Schezo, King Dedede vs Satan and Void Termina vs The Creator, albeit I've only the first and last ones in single trailers and King Dedede vs Satan in YouTube posts.
