My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

Deku becoming a mad man, in contrast to how he reacted at the beginning of the Entrance Exam, is displayed literally DURING the Entrance Exam.

What wimpy person looks at a giant robot and instantly thinks to run up and punch it to save someone? He was incredibly nervous and scared, but when it comes down to it, he has always been insane.

I do, however, believe he lost every bit of nervousness he ever had when he fought Todoroki. When he blew out all his fingers several times and kept going, he kinda just stopped acting scared or crying all together. That was when he really changed.

...

What if Deku gets to such a point, where he’s out of it. Danger Sense is going wild at every little thing, his blackwhip tendrils ready to lash out at any time to defend himself. Danger Sense gives off strong vibes of someone right behind him and his tendrils pierce the imminent threat in an instant without hesitation.

Only to turn around and realise it was All Might, trying to catch up with him to tell him to rest.

Where would Guts and Eren rank as heroes and/or villains in MHA?
I imagine Founding Titan Eren based on profiles would be among High tiers in the verse although quite slow by comparison

Guts would be one of the fastest in the verse outside of God tiers like 100% Deku and Prime All Might. But his AP and Dura would land him only amongst the verses 8-As

Virgin Mirio: needed 3 years and intense training to get a single opinion from a pro that he’s the closest to being rank one.

Chad Deku: Just begun his second year. 4th known strongest being on the planet. The pros including rank one follow him everywhere he goes and are trying to protect him. Refuses bento box from the former symbol of peace. Has sentient ghosts in his head.

”Mirio should’ve inherited OFA” people are seething I bet.

He also destroyed Shiggy while Mirio could not even beat Nomu.

xdddddddd

I have been thinking about Izuku's development and well, does anyone else think he grew out of being wimpy and awkward too fast? Like he tripped on his own legs when walking to his school, was paralyzed in fear at the entrance exam and was in disbelief when he talked to a girl. I can't imagine anything like that from even early series Deku after that point, almost like he was a different person pre and post entrance exam.

His transformation into a stone cold baddass also seems a bit abrupt but that's just first impression
He stopped being paralysed with fear after the USJ were it’s said all the students forgot how to hesitate and even then he was nervous. Deku’s nervousness has been there for like a long time. It only disappeared (seemingly fully) by EA. He was nervous as late as post MVA.

Deku was also still nervous about girls getting close to him such as with Hatsume and he still stuttered a lot even to Tsuyu.

All quirks become literal based off their names. What changes and who becomes the strongest?
Half hot-half cold, OFA, Tape, Dark Shadow, Sugar Rush, Stress, Meatball, Frog, and many others all suck ass now.

What are you gonna do Todoroki? wear long sleeves and pants on one half, and shorts with short sleeves on the other? Oohhh, so scary...

Eraser Head
He would literally have an eraser head

The "what if" question was if quirk names were to become literal, not hero names. Eraser head would actually absolutely broken because his quirk name is "Erasure"
if so I say "glamor" by Camie
It would basically be dressing well

and "Comic" by Manga Fukidashi
Although I really don't know what it would be like if it were literal

"Lock Down" by Ken Takagi
perfect for quarantine

“Oh honey wake up it’s time for the 63rd rant on r/bokunoheroacademia saying vestige quirks bad and Deku not listening to others is bad and he’s horribly written for having flaws.”

”Yes dear.”
Yeah, I saw 3 rants on this arc back to back on that site. Literally all the "manga discussions" if there's ever any on that sub is all about complaints. And it all boils down to "Deku as the MC is finally getting his own arc" but I assume they don't like him cause they have been complaining non-stop about the "lack of side characters". MHA probably has a lot of people watching that hate Deku cause its ridiculous to me some of the complaints people make with regards to him and the side characters.

Some people are stuck in Dreamland and think Bakugo is the "second protagonist". I've seen this thrown around so many times.

There's also the people who somehow still think Bakugo, Shoto or the other kids were ever gonna keep up with Deku power-wise but Hori burst their bubble real quick this arc (despite it already being obvious) so they have been endlessly ranting about that.

“Ugh Deku doesn’t listen what a flaw he keeps not listening to his teachers and friends Horikoshi is a hack with this horrible writing.”

When he DOES listen people die. Maybe Reddit people should realise Deku isn’t entirely in the wrong.

I hope everyone else is training like hell offscreen tho. Get some major upgrades so they’re not all left completely in the dust.

Anime Overhaul 100% Deku looked different from the manga tho, but in some specific frames resembled the manga again with the spikey eyes. Just a strange chance or maybe animation mistake I guess.

Heroes Rising resembles the manga design.

I think the one we are using still looks better.

The new render has a more accurate depiction of 100%, consistent with Heroes Rising and the manga tho. It also makes it easier to see all of his body and has a more neutral pose.

Horikoshi drew Full Cowl 100%'s eyes the same as in the anime as well.

Calling one more accurate just for the eyes is disingenuous, especially when he is not consistent himself in the manga, as it was shown with Full Cowl 100%, and later with 45%.

Deku's two later costumes and his Full Cowl 5%-45% also don't have a fully neutral pose, so making his last appearance neutral would be a weird change in comparison.

All Might at USJ era and Deku current era are suddenly teleported to AOT. They have to bring peace between Eldia and the rest of the world. They can only use violence as a last resort and must prioritise their words first. They can only fight if attacked first.

Can they succeed?
