UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE [shiny new] DISCUSSION THEAD



This theory seems to propose that [[Hyperlinked Blocked]] is LV, which comes with detachment, reflected in Noelle's detached state, rationalizing her behaviour, becoming unable to recognize her own best friend as anything more than another enemy, etc. (As well as the Thorn Ring 55 = LV thing.)

What do you all think?
 
Interesting analysis/theory video series so far that I'm checking out:



It's doing some interesting, although not ENTIRELY novel Ralsei analysis, but I'd definitely call it good background noise at least.

Interesting things I've been considering as a result of this:

Ralsei knows where the TP Bar appears to be to the player.

Ralsei claimed he "sensed a dark fountain" & hurried over after visiting Castle Town post-Chapter 1. Was this premeditated? For example, talk about it to Kris in the dungeon, since he did provide a loose understanding of the Roaring already before that, IIRC. & the dialogue ends with "so that's why, OK, Kris?". That could mean it's justifying a betrayal. Like hiding a plan/knowledge from Susie &/or the player.

Ralsei speaks about recruiting like he expects more Castle Town residents, but that only happens if there's more Dark Worlds. They want to stop the Knight. Not to mention, some stories consider creating new life a bad thing, & likewise, getting rid of a world is also sometimes considered a bad thing, even if you did get a lot of its inhabitants to become refugees to your city.
Ergo: If The Knight is not part of their party, then why is Ralsei excited for more recruits/refugees? Surely he's not THAT lonely. & The Knight being a force out of their control making things tough for Lightners ought to be concerning.
If Kris is The Knight & collaborating with Ralsei, then they might have less reason to worry, right?
Couldn't Ralsei have Pacified or such Berdly & Noelle or such to make them forget the adventure of Chapter 2, in the interest of helping prevent another roaring?

Could Ralsei be meant to be a "scapegoat" of sorts, ultimately?

Okay, look back at the beginning of the chapter 2, how the hell was there a dark fountain in the computer room in the library? the only ones there where berdly & noelle.

Either, one of the two ACCIDENTALLY made a dark fountain? (but that is unlikely.) or ralsei did it.

or the crack route being that "the knight" came bargin in, knocked out berdly & noelle, made a dark fountain & quickly left before traffic got out of hand.

They went there after school, & we don't know what happened between Noelle & Berdly going ahead of Kris, Ralsei & Susie - In theory, it could'v been like Kris & Susie in the supply closet where they fell down & awoke in The Dark World, or a third party knocked them out somehow.
But it'd have so be an inconspicuous entry OR they got into the library very early (Like, when it opened or later, OR they somehow hid in the closet all night since before it closed like a lunatic.) to wait in ambush.

Some suspect this was The Knight's doing, presuming it isn't Kris.

Pardon my asking, but doesn't Ralsei fail the qualifiers to make a Dark Fountain? Like, for one, we've little to no reason to believe he can be in The Light World.
Not to mention, a scarf is very unlike the only weapon a Dark Fountain has been made with so far, a knife, according to Queen. Berdly implied his Halbird could make one, too, but he may not've been aware he wouldn't have that in The Light Word.

& Knights are associated with blades.

How DID Ralsei learn he was in a video game? Gaster, as crazy as that would be?

Also, I saw a curious Youtube comment with a theory, so I'll post the theory part of that:

The main part of my theory/observation was that I thought it was very strange that, despite the prophecy being most likely retranslated over and over again, it seemed to use a bunch of Only statements right after it talks about the ‘calamity’.
“Only then, shining with hope, three heroes appear at worlds edge”
“Only they have the power to close the fountains and banish the angels heaven”
”Only then will balance be restored, and the world saved from destruction.”

Which then lead me to believe (in my opinion) that it sounded like not only is the roaring supposed to happen (and not be prevented), but that it is the only time we should show up “shining with hope”, that even if the roaring were to ever happen, we would still be there despite the odds and apparent hopelessness, and save the world. Which is where my question lies, why then, would Ralsei not want the roaring to happen?

To clarify, I am not saying that he should want the roaring to happen (which sounds really stupid, but hear me out), I’m saying that I think it’s weird that he’s in general extremely against the roaring happening, and doesn’t want it to happen whatsoever despite it being said in the prophecy (according to my observation) that it is the only time we should show up and that only then will balance be restored when we close the fountains and banish the angels heaven (presumably at the same time).

Idk, maybe he talked with gaster at one point and figured out a loophole, or maybe this all has something to with his purpose of helping and assisting us, who knows! (Not me!)
 
So it always deals half the HP no matter the armor you have? It does sounds like Dura Neg.

Interesting stuff I read in Youtube comments:

"You know, it wouldn't surprise me if Berdly's overall significance ended after Chapter 2. He is not the fourth party member unlike Noelle for starters, and I looked in Deltarune Chapter 1+2's code with UndertaleModTool.

The removal of the meaning of choice would certainly be circumvented by using someone not among the "Delta Warriors", since their destiny is to... whatever bullshit this thing about the roaring is. Noelle is not part of the Prophecy, so she can throw a wrench into destiny's plan. We could wind up doing something similar with Toriel, especially if we opt to take advantage of her motherly nature, indirectly teaching her that confronting her problems like Asgore with aggression is the way to go.


Asriel has also yet to appear, but it's safe to say that being alive in Deltarune means fate will find other ways to torture him... such as by targeting those he cares about! It can be compared to how he let his adoptive sibling Chara wrap him around their finger, prodding him to go through with poisoning them using buttercup flowers, and essentially making him exclusively trust Chara."

"I feel like Berdly, going forward, will be the kind of character that, if you play the normal route, you get funny and/or wholesome dialogue from in the light world. You can talk to him in Hometown, he may appear as a non-essential character in some Light World cutscenes, stuff like that. But if you do Snowgrave you get poignant awkward silences where he should've been. It sounds cheesy, but maybe you can see him comatose in the hospital in Hometown. Maybe someone says "damn, it's a shame Berdly isn't here" in a place where he normally would be. Like, I doubt the sudden "illness"/death/disappearance of a kid would go entirely unnoticed in a small town like that."
 
Given that we consider Sans’ dura neg work only on souls in match-ups, and that his KARMA works specifically on veins, shouldn’t Sans have defeated Flowey several times via raw AP as Flowey implies?
 
Curious, now that we have Undertale at City Block and accept Vulkin's lightning as real, do you think Frisk withstanding Tsunderplane ramming into them while moving in tandem with Vulkin's lightning (Which got around 8-A or Low 7-C IIRC) can be acceptable? I know for a fact it was rejected for being inconsistent due to being way above where the characters are usually scaled to.
