Ragnarök-RP Thread

David continued to lie their, blood pooling around his body. he was only dimly aware of Rory and Kiara's approach but didn't react. his mind was still occupied by one man.

Kill Gaia.

"he...he's....unstoppable," David said, finally realizing how truly insignificant he was compared to the man. all the bluster about beating Kill Gaia, about putting him in check, about doing anything to stop this man were empty threats.

he looked at the crowd of people. he knew he couldn't stop the war. not anymore. they would kill each other, and it was his own fault for being to weak to even begin to help them.

"I'm....I'm no hero..." David said, before mercifully falling into unconsciousness.
Rory picked up David, "...****." That was all she could say... What was she going to do? Even if she kept getting stronger, the gap between her and Kill-Gaia was impossibly large. "Heroes..." This world was just a dream.

Even if they were strong here, it wasn't real. "We're just people..." That realization hit Rory hard, and it especially hit Kiara. "I know that, but...!" Kiara slammed her fist into the ground.

"I can't just...!!" She knew she was just a little girl. But still...! "Mommy." Belial tugged on Rory's shirt, his eyes filled with... sadness, instead of emptiness.

"Is David going to die?"

Rory froze up, stumbling on her words. "N-No..." At this moment, Belial was no God-King. He was a child, and he needed his mother.

"Of course not, love..."

That was all she could say. She manifested a bed, setting King Tiger onto it as the citizens of Emerald City were in chaos.

"Everything is going to be fine...!"

She hugged Belial, but internally, she was scared. What was going to happen next? Would she be able to protect the people she cared about?

"E-Everything is..."

She couldn't help but weep.

Masayoshi and Towa rushed over to King Tiger, the former with tears in her eyes as she desperately tried to heal him and undo the damage.

"David! David! David, don't die..." Masayoshi said, sobbing in between words as she tried desperately to heal him, "Babe, David, honey... Don't die on me... Please...."

David groaned softly as the healing spread throughout his body. He wasn’t in good shape, but Masayoshi healing was slowly restoring him. His body was in tatters, but consciousness returned to his limp body.

his eyes fluttered open, and he gazed at Masayoshi. His eyes dim.

“….I’m….I’m sorry honey….” David said quietly.

“I….failed”

tears flowed down his cheeks as he said this. The water mixing with the blood and dirt that covered his face from Kill Gaia beating.

"Don't say that...!" Rory wiped away her tears and stood up, walking towards King Tiger. "We can... We can still...!" Anything she could say would only come out as a half-hearted speech.

"We can still fight..."

This was the first time in forever Rory realized she wasn't a god... She wasn't a hero or all-ending calamity. She was human, a human who escaped into their own dreams.

"W-We can still..."

“I….I can’t….” David muttered

“He’s…he’s too strong” David said Too weak to wipe his tears as they flowed down his body.

“He’s…unstoppable” David wept. The memory of his beating haunting him like a ghost, torturing his psyche as he replayed the events over and over in his mind.

he was just a man. His delusions of heroism meant nothing when faced with the cold, hard truth.

"No... No, no, no, no, no.... Don't say that..." Masayoshi said, trying to encourage her husband, "You're still my hero, remember?"

"Why not!?" Kiara yelled out, enraged. "Think of all the people who are going to die...! Think of you're friends! Think of you're WIFE!"

"No... No, no, no, no, no.... Don't say that..." Masayoshi said, trying to encourage her husband, "You're still my hero, remember?"
“I’m…nobodies hero.”

“you…you deserve a better man then me Masayoshi. I’m….”

“pathetic.”

"Why not!?" Kiara yelled out, enraged. "Think of all the people who are going to die...! Think of you're friends! Think of you're WIFE!"
“what…what can I do…?” David said softly.

“you saw what happened….saw what he did to me….” David said.

"Enough of the pity party! You must stand strong David! Being a hero isn't about saving lives, it's about doing your best to do what you think is right! So hold onto hope in even the darkest nights David!" Draedon shouted at the despairing hero
“….I tried to do what I thought was right….and look what happened. Nothing changed. Their still going to kill each other and I can’t do a god damn thing to stop it” David said.

Masayoshi then did something unexpected. Rearing her arm back and bringing it down at high speeds, she slapped David in the face.

"Don't talk like that! You've fought him before, but that's never stopped you... Even when there wasn't much you could do, you still tried... That's why I love you so much! It doesn't matter how absurd things get, you still get back up and keep trying, looking and hoping for a way...." Masayoshi said, "Don't tell me the David, the King Tiger I fell in love with, is dead...."

"He's right." Belial spoke up.

"What's the point of these speeches? What is that going to change?" Belial said, his arms hanging down. "Is trying to encourage him going to stop people from dying?" He asked.

"Of course not." Belial looked down, "It's only natural... For the weak to die." Belial said. "B-Belial..." Rory said.

"This is meaningless. So I'm just going to wait..."

Masayoshi said, "Don't tell me the David, the King Tiger I fell in love with, is dead...."
David looked at Masayoshi for a long while. feeling the sting on his cheeks from where she had slapped him. He was surprised.

"...thank you...Masayoshi" he said finally.

"For....for believing in me. even now....even after what happened."

"I.....I love you....so much"

David closed his eyes, forcing the tears to stop rolling from his face.

"I'm..I'm not strong honey. I put on a brave face...but deep down, I'm just a scared, scared man. Kill Gaia....he terrifies me....I don't know if I can ever face him again....."

"but.....for you....because you believe in me....."

"ill.....ill keep fighting. ill keep trying. as long as your here with me..."

"....ill keep moving forward." He said finally. his voice was shaky. unsure. afraid. yet....a certain level of conviction shined through beyond all of those emotions.

"Now that's the man I married..." Masayoshi said, putting her hands on his face, kissing and healing him simultaneously.

"Get a room," Towa said, rolling her eyes, but also relieved that King Tiger was getting back to his normal self.
"I don't know what I'd do without you, honey..." David said softly, a small smile showing on his face. he kissed her back, and let the healing wash over his battered body.

Belial stared at the new hope that had sprouted between King Tiger and his lover, "...What even is the point?" He thought to himself. Why continue to hope? "I tried to..." And he failed. Everything he tried to do had failed. Everything they had tried to do failed.

"What even is it...!?" He thought once more, teleporting away from the group. "Belial...?" Rory said softly, noticing that he wasn't there. Belial teleported to the outskirts of Emerald City, sitting on the edge of a building.

"I tried my best to stay hopeful, even against impossible odds. I had my mother and my friends to keep me whole..." But they were just humans. They couldn't hope to stand against a god such as Kill-Gaia.

"Shalor..." He thought that if he held onto the people he loved he would be capable of pushing through the pain of seeing his pain, "David..." He thought if he just encouraged David, his hope would save more people. "Kiara..." It was the same with Kiara. The hope that they emanated made Belial feel... warm.

Being loved by others made Belial feel... happy. "I can't kill myself." There would be no point. His true form would simply revive him. "And I can't fight." He would lose. "I can't be helped..." He would simply be a burden and then be given a half-hearted motivational speech that would change absolutely nothing.

Had the city always looked so... lifeless? "I need to prepare for war." That was the way that he viewed it, at least. "Even if I'm weak." And that was how he would always view it from now on... "I have to do my best."

Many days passed... Many people prepared for battle. The soldiers took up arms, and so did the people. Machines, guns, it cultivated into a group of warmongers who were desperate for survival. It was all they could do in the face of such unstoppable power... For the masses could not hope as the supposed heroes. They could only survive.

(Basically, that was a short timeskip.)

Rory and Kiara stood close to each other, holding hands as they watched the battle slowly begin from a tall building. "Rory... Can we not save these people from themselves?" She asked, tearing up. "I wish we could, love..." Rory said, gripping her wife's hand tighter.

"I sincerely wish that we could... But, we have to try!" Rory said enthusiastically, "We'll do our best to minimize the casualties...!" Rory said, "Y-Yeah!" Both of them were hopeful. "I just wish Belial was here..." Rory thought. He had been gone for a few days.

David stood on a nearby building. Looking down at the battlefield. His wounds had mostly recovered, thanks to Masayoshi healing magic. though The magic had only healed his physical wounds. The mental trauma that had occurred during his fight with Kill Gaia was still fresh. he was noticeably more uneasy now.

he silently wondered where Belial had gone. The boy had simply…left. Much to David confusion. He pushed the thought out of his mind, and remained focus on the battle.

“I’m…going to save who I can” David thought nervously, a bead of sweat appearing on his face.

With a leap, he jumped into the battle. With the goal of preventing as many deaths as he could.

Emerald City itself had an absurd number of citizens, numbering in the billions! And almost each and every one of them had taken up arms to battle, they could not possibly save as many people as they hoped to.

Kiara rushed down into battle, disregarding the sheer scale of the war. "Here I go!" She thought to herself as she attempted to prevent as much damage as possible. Rory also helped by forcefully rallying anybody fighting to prevent any further injuries.

"Damn, we aren't going to be able to do that much..." Rory said, clicking her tongue in frustration.

David breathed a sigh in frustration as he watched the carnage unfold. he blocked an incoming bullet, which would have hit someone square in the skull had it completed its flight. Using his gravity manipulation, he forcefully levitated many of the weapons out of the citizen's hands, causing the firearms to float upwards into the air before being crushed by intense gravitational forces. at the same time, he used his conceptual manipulation to erase the damage from nearby people and buildings, restoring them.

"I can't save everyone....but as long as he isn't here, I can at least save some of these people from murdering each other" David said.

Suddenly, many of the citizens began to violently mutate into plague-bearing soldiers, any semblance of infection turning them into enormous and hideous beasts. "****!" Kiara used her willpower to forcefully fight off the transformation as somebody who had the plague, but this caused her to slow down.

"Who the hell is doing that?!" Rory thought to herself, realizing that such a rapid increase in the effectiveness in the plague wasn't possible with what she had seen...

"It cant be....did Kill-Gaia do this?" David said, barely keeping the fear from reaching his voice as he saw the soldiers mutate. He glanced over at Kiara, and was glad to see that she was able to at least somewhat resist the effects of the plague.

David was at a loss. without a cure, there was no way to restore these people back to their original forms. but they were still...people. David decided to attempt to subdue the plague monsters non-lethally, hoping he could knock them out instead of killing them.

The assault of the beast's and the people did not let up as they violently tore each other apart, the ones that King Tiger attempted to restrain simply breaking out of his grip with their grotesque strength. Kiara gritted her teeth... "****..." She held the same opinion as King Tiger. These were people.

"DAMNIT!"

She yelled out as she created a giant explosion, decimating a large amount of the beasts. They couldn't save them... And that was clear to Kiara. She had to accept it... "I'm just a human..." And you won't be able to save everybody.

David gritted his teeth. visible anger and frustration on his face.

"****...****" he yelled.

he remembered his time in Singularity. how he had wiped out a group of people who had been forcefully turned into machines by the phantom. like now, those monsters were once humans. living breathing people with goals and aspirations. but just like now... there was no way to save them. No way to bring them back. his only option was to either let them run amok and kill more people or end their suffering.

he knew what had to be done.

he started flying around, quickly destroying the heads of the beasts as they were fighting, instantly killing them. he wanted to do it quickly, painlessly, so he went as fast as he could to prevent them from suffering.

Kiara thought to herself, "What the hell is the point of a hero if they can't save everyone...!!!" She knew she was just a human, but still... No. No, this was what had to be done. "I know it, and yet..." But she could not help but weep for the deceased.

Rory summoned her trademark sword, the Goddess Cleaver, gripping it tightly. "Here I go..." Rory was more okay with killing the beasts, but that doesn't mean she didn't feel frustration or anger...

"This is what has to be done." Both Rory and Kiara thought in unison.

David had...changed. his experience in the singularity with Shalor, his experience with the flower with Lamia, the time he spent in emerald city. His perspective...was altered.

"Saving everyone...was never an achievable goal" He realized. he had been put into many situations where he simply could not save people. and, after a while has slowly, unconsciously come to terms with the fact that not everyone can be saved. and so, he developed a new philosophy. a new ideal. to save everyone he COULD save, even if he couldn't save them all. and these beasts. just like so many people before them, had reached a point beyond saving.

"I'm sorry..." He said as he continued to dispatch the beasts. each hit made him want to vomit, as he saw the blood of innocent men, women, and children on his hands. he nearly collapsed from the mental stress of knowing that these monsters used to be...people. but...he kept going.

Kiara wasn't coping as well as King Tiger was. Ever since she was a child she had wanted to be a hero to save everybody, to inspire hope... But this, this was never what she had envisioned in her quest for heroism.

"What's the point of a hero!?"

She asked herself that as she tore apart the beasts, tears filling her eyes. "What's the point of it all!?" She thought. What was the point of a hero if they couldn't even save anybody? What was the point of a human?

From upon a faraway rooftop, Belial looked down on the battle with sadness in his eyes. He looked specifically at Kiara, who was struggling in her mind. "...Huh." He was thinking of going down there and helping, but before he did... "That weird fruit Zaza gave me." He went to take it out of the pocket dimension he put it in.

"It's gone...?" Where the hell was it? Suddenly, black mist began to cover the battlefield, "Zaza...! Did she take it back for some reason...!?" Belial said to himself. He had no idea what that fruit could do... So he had to get it back and contain it.

(This RP has more pages than RVR lol.)

Zaza manifested herself onto a large pile of corpses that had formed during the battle, sitting down while holding a weird red fruit in her hand... "It seems Lord Gaia is entertained with this outcome." Zaza smiled, looking down at the people who were still fighting.

"That's right... Keep fighting. Prove yourself worthy." Rory didn't allow Zaza to speak another as she swiftly teleported to her, delivering a horizontal slash which Zaza dodged by a hair.

"Are you the one causing the sudden mutations!?" Rory asked.

"And if Zaza is...?" She asked, smirking.

((Damn lol))

David glared at the women. Rage building in his body.

“shes the reason all those innocent people died. She’s the reason I had to kill so many” David thought, his hands tightening into fists.

“YOUR ******* DEAD ZAZA” David roared, his hesitation lost in a sea of his own anger and rage.

using his Spatial Folding, David forcefully brought Zaza into melee range, folding the distance between the two so that she appeared right in from of him. If successful, he would immediately follow up with a grapple, grabbing her by the arm and forcefully throwing her onto the ground.

Zaza waved her hand, swatting David away from her and knocking him to the ground. "Zaza isn't here to fight you." Zaza held the weird fruit into the air as she kicked Rory in the stomach, sending her flying back.

"A reward for those who have proven themselves worthy! The one who claims this fruit shall claim the world!"

Belial entered the battlefield, his expression worried and labored. "God Damnit- Don't let anybody take that fruit that Zaza is holding!" He had to take it for himself.

“Not here to fight me? Well that’s too bad” David said, getting to his feet. His expression hard.

“I’m gonna kick your ass and take that fruit from ya!” He had no idea what it was, but based on Belial reaction, it seemed important.

immediately, he rushed forward again, delivering a flying knee kick onto Zaza face. At the same time, he created several hands made of willpower, one of which wrapped itself around the fruit and attempted to take it from her hand.

Black Mist nigh-instantly covered Zaza's body, blocking any assaults on her. "Zaza hasn't the time for the weak." She said, sounding disappointed. "Zaza will never give you love, so stop trying." She violently expanded the Black Mist, once again blowing King Tiger away.

"Instead...!"

Zaza held the fruit into the air once more, smiling and cackling maniacally. "Hear me, anybody who kills the muscle-man and his friends gets this fruit!" This of course didn't apply to Belial who was just going to take the fruit. "I want it..." Despair and sadness filled his heart, but he felt as if he could quench it if only he had that fruit... "If only I could just have it...!" He wasn't going to kill his friends over it though. But for the other citizens...

They all took up arms against the group. "Shit!!" Rory said, running over to protect Kiara and Belial.

“Damn….” David cursed. seeing the people start to turn against him upon hearing Zaza's words.

David took a step forward. Instantly, the gravity around the group of civilians increased by several times. Immobilizing all those without supernatural strength, but not killing them.

“Please don't attack us! We aren’t the enemies here! I was the guy who tried to fight Kill Gaia, remember? We are on your side!” David pleaded at the crowd. He didn’t want to hurt them.

"You tried to save us... And then you failed!"

"If there's no hero to help us then we'll do it ourselves!"

"Not today... Not tomorrow...! I'm not going to die! I'm going to WIN!"

The people screamed out in rage in hatred at King Tiger's failure, not wanting to hear any of it. For these people, death was all that awaited them had they not taken that fruit for themselves. It was the most basic of human instincts, survival of the fittest.

"GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY!" One of the people yelled out, their eyes turning dark green as they broke free of King Tiger's gravity, punching him in the face and knocking out a multitude of his teeth. "What the...?" Rory blocked an incoming attack from someone whose eyes had also changed, causing her to be blown back.

"Forced mutation...?" Belial thought to himself, sweating. It seemed like the willpower of the people was causing them to force a mutation for even more power. Was that even possible!?

the people’s words hit David like a punch to the gut.

“that’s right…I did fail them.” David thought.

“when they needed me most…I couldn’t help them…”

David wavered, and hesitated. Visibly distraught. Making it easy for one of the citizens to knock him down. Blood spilled from his mouth as he was knocked backwards and snapped him out of his own thoughts.

“How the hell did they get so strong!” David yelled, wiping the blood away from his mouth.

Yharon had worked to maximize the defenses on everything within his curfew of an empire, including moving his people to the tower at the end of creation, leaving only military operatives within his main empire, while Yharon knew damn well that it would be flat out impossible to defend against an attack by Kill-Gaia, he was cautiously confident he could take on Zaza if required.

"Draedon, continue searching for Belial, the last thing we need is for him to turn up dead and cause Shalor to have a mental breakdown. Relanak, Signus, Ceaseless Void, you make sure your areas are ready for war. Stroheim, take to the front lines, your strength will be needed." Yharon ordered, staying in Draedon's Laboratory to help the search for Belial
