Legend of Zelda General Discussion Thread

In every way I'd assume, def top 5 worst profiles I've seen that we somehow still have.
no like actually wtf how didn't tlmbrg prune them in the great pruning of pre 30000.

My girl Zelda was made justice. Really liked you can pretty much go anywhere you want as long as you get the right Echoes. It's also a pretty nice touch that even though Link is the distressed one this time around, the game goes out of its way to throw respect towards him, firmly establishing how much he had been fighting and helping people in Hyrule with the crisis, having him doing his darnest to help even after being taken away and everything.

Random thing but, ended up never using the swordsman mode, even against bosses or moments when it should have been easier. Really wanted to use Zelda's own abilities given we finally had the chance (funnily, I've read around that one of the reasons Zelda was picked as the MC this time is that developers thought that if they had made Link the protag again, players would just use his regular weapons over the echoes).

And a minor thing, but also thought it was neat that mission objectives used the interface and design of Breath of the Wild.

A bit embarassing to say, but I'm having trouble with the final boss. I can manage his initial forms well enough, but as soon as he merges with nothingness and uses his final form I get my caboose kicked, seen here.

Okay, awful jokes aside. What are the thoughts on Void? Zelda pretty much got its own ExDeath, complete with powers of nothingness and a primordial void where everything came from.

Yeah I'm so glad that they really nailed Zelda's first outing as the main character of the series (Seriously how did it take them nearly 40 years to do this lol), and I'm glad that they still highlight Link's combat skill even though he's the one that needs saving. The fact he was already fighting these monsters and people across Hyrule were already aware of him, and the fact that he even came across Ganon (Or his echo or whatever) a few times before the start of the game makes it feel like this game picked up right after another game had finished.

Kinda cool you never ended up using it, I'm glad that it's a mostly optional power-up (You still gotta use a handful of times for very specific obstacles and even then it's only for like 5 seconds) and has just enough limits to not overshadow the main gameplay while not feeling useless.

-2 for that joke

I think Null's a cool addition, nice to get new goddess lore that isn't minor stuff like "They had the spirits banish the shadow tribe". Having an actual reason for why they created everything is cool, and I like how Null's goal is more unique compared to the standard world domination Ganondorf and most other villains have. Destroying reality ain't unqiue for his character archtype but it's a breath of fresh air for the series. Do think it's kinda funny that in terms of pure strength he's like mid tier in the verse, got the best sealing tho that's for sure, Hylia and Zelda wish their sealing was on Null's level.

They didn't forget their boyo is their boyo, in that way it feels cool to play as Zelda and pretty exciting when you get to join forces with Link.

It justifies its existence as the game's super mode pretty well. It's actually very powerful and there would be little reason to not use it given how well balanced it is and all. But I really wanted to make the most of Zelda's time to shine.

Nooo my comedian career!

I also think that Null is a nice spin. We've had many conquerors, mindless beasts of destruction, a rather tragic figure in WW Ganondorf, a sex offender, and the only eldritch monster we've had so far was Majora, but even then he was largely in the background given MM was mostly about Skullkid.

But, is Null really just a mid tier? I mean, returning everything to nothing does sound like a pretty big deal, especially if a fragment of the Triforce could amp him to do it. Speaking of, the Prime Energy is the Triforce again or it's simply using the triangle symbol?

He's a mid tier no matter how strong his feats be, because everyone above mid tier automatically gets upgraded off him whether his ass is 10-C or 1-A.

And the former, explicitly.

Edit 2: Also a piece wasn't enough, though it did make like a 100km rift, and was said to be causing a BUNCH like that to pop up, but the full one could, which is also an upgrade for it. Jap text even explicitly says EE for it.

Is Zelda good to play as?
Yeah, the game does the BOTW/TOTK route of having a fuckton of cheese strats or alt tech to do stuff. I did whole temples the "wrong" way and didnt even realize till i looked up jap walkthroughs to parse text.

Oooh, my bad. I got it backwards, I thought you meant that he was going to be stuck in Tier 7 or something and he was mid-tier compared to what we already got because turned out his feats weren't that big of a deal or had massive buts.

Something I kind of forgot: why did Null need the Prime Energy to begin with? I have to take a look at the story again, but it seemed that he was a match for the Golden Goddesses in the ancient times and could actually reduce the universe to nothing if he hadn't been stopped.

Null never really matched the goddesses, they just got sick of him eating all the life that was popping up so they made the world to imprison him. His rifts, while impressive, also aren't quick enough to revert creation back to the void (Even with all the Tris sealed at the start of the game he wasn't able to fully engulf Hyrule).

Ah, dangit, I was getting excited and got carried away. Interpreted the whole thing as your typical epic battle between good and evil, where the baddie had to be sealed because they were too strong for the good guys to permanently kill, leaving to the heroes to clean the mess as usual.

Which makes me think, if Null was such a hazard for existence and the Goddesses are far stronger than him, why seal him to begin with? Why not just destroy him?

Well tbf, he actually kinda is, the best feat for the game tier 7 max pre-end game. Maybe you could cook somehing with a few of the rifts, but it wouldn't surpass 6-C.

As Dust said, he was more of a pest.

Dude is probably on ten fucktrillion layers of immortality like everything else in verse who knows, would not be surprised if we get info saying he has type 8 immortality eventually. The gods themselves really don't seem to like taking offensive action anyway.

Yeah when it comes to big threats the goddesses don't try and really destroy them they just put them in the corner to think about what they've done.

The shadow tribe were gunning for the Triforce for less than pleasant reasons and in response the goddesses just had them banished to the twilight realm, when Ganondorf broke out of his seal in between the events of Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker they just decided to seal him away again (And also flood the world which was a bit excessive but hey it is what it is and given that it's crenando it was probs needed to keep him imprisoned longer than his last seal)

I started the skeleton of a null profile but got preocupied due to a LOT of irl stuff happening (Esspecially family related stuff), all I really did was like half the P&A section and don't think I'm coming back to it anytime soon.

Got a rework for, uegh, vaati's profile as a WIP, and think that's about it.

Sorry, to hear that dude. Unoriginal as it sounds, best of luck and hope everything works out.

Do I leave the profile to you then? I'm gonna be busy with the FF stuff for a bit as well.

thanks man, so far it's been pretty managable so that's a plus.

I think if you're still busy with that by the time I'm no longer preoccupied with all my stuff (As well as getting my ass into gear to finish those FF16 profiles) then I'll go back to it, otherwise feel free to tackle it if you want.

Let's see how it turns out. Wish I wasn't so frikin slow when working on pages. But if not, I can at least collaborate however I can.

I'm working on every N64 profile except Ganon i got stuff for him but the plan was to just throw it at dust and say there ya go fucko unfortunately I'm excessive and turns out I need stuff from other games to finish them so....
I got Dolphin up with TP, I'm like 30% done that.

also totk stuff but im still sorting out the clips, kinda wish nintendo let you name the video clips on switch first so they arent named like ******* "2024080103251101-CD8DDEDFE332FE055C049150B035121B" when moved oevr to PC.
