Lazy Pokemon Profiles - Why Are We Linking Movesets Offsite?

@AN. Two words: Earth Power

Ovo
What irritates me is that the calc isn't even linked on Diglett's page. It's literally "generates this much energy with Earth Power" without the link.

Pokémon profiles are just sloppy in general. Even when he reasoning is correct it's sometimes poorly implemented and presented in confusing/misleading ways.

NP, but now that thats cleared up, then shouldnt all anime pokemon be given TM and HM moves? Tutor moves are still a no because of obvious reasons but in the anime, TMs and HMs dont exist so those moves can be learned naturally there (and there are examples of this to support it).

@Professor

No unless they are shown having the specific move. Here you are assuming they have all the moves just because they've shown a few. That's just wrong.

I may not be a Pokemon fan or make Pokemon battles, but even I find this issue very bad. At least do it bit by bit in a Word document or Notepad++ file before posting the new, completed profile, including the move sets they can learn. This way the profile maker can be as lazy as he/she wants and still post a full profile at some point.

Except thats what we literally do for all the pokemon pages here though. We list the moves they can all naturally learn, even if some of the species knows different moves from other members. For example, we list all the possible moves Pikachu is able to learn on its own, but obviously not every single pikachu around will have the exact same movesets, they just have the possiblity of naturally having all of them.

In the animes case, its the same thing only it has much more moves to add to the bunch because of no TM's and HM's.

Except that is composited from the games, where we know for a fact they can and have them. Not nearly the same case with the anime.

I think that Lephyr is right.

About the TM it was agreed on a thread that the pokémon can use them as long as it is specified in the thread.

After just reading what the OP mentioned and I didn't read the comment section since it's kind of long, here's what I got to mention:

@Reppuzan

"Instead of listing the abilities and moves a Pokémon can naturally learn under Attacks/Techniques, the majority of our Pokémon profiles link to Bulbapedia instead of actually doing the job they're supposed to."

Ikr, I mean we all should have been doing both of these options correctly instead & use tabbers more often while doing so since it helps a lot.

"This is doubly obvious on our Trainer profiles, where the Pokémon have canonical movesets that are limited to four moves each. This should make it even easier to list out these moves."

True.

"The profiles that do were either edited by me or by some other conscientious user."

Basically.

"But more often than not, the latter's attempts at helping involve ripping text directly from the games rather than actually paraphrasing like we're supposed to under our Anti-Plagiariasm clause."

So I guess it would be more preferred that we paraphrase and leave direct links to the text by using Imgur (for Images) and Giphy (for GIFs) then?

"Seriously, this has to stop. It's lazy, sloppy, and quite frankly stupid."

Honestly.

"This is an indexing wiki. We shouldn't have to outsource our work and force users to go to another site to learn about a Pokémon. In addition, Bulbapedia takes into account game mechanics that we don't (i.e. Move Priority), making it even more misleading."

Ikr.

"If you're not going to put in the effort to write sixteen bullet points, then please don't make the profile."

Try telling that to the thousands of others who often rushed VS profiles like these various of times.
