Dungeons & Divers (RP Thread)

(Sorry for not responding all day; had irl shit to do)
"Blow into it if you get caught (⇀‸↼). It will scare those punks away best case, or freeze them for a sec worst case. See it as a panic escape button (>‿◠)✌"
“Is…is that actually a bird head, or does it just look like one?”

"Oh. That's... that's very handy?" Demi seems, rightfully, rather creeped out by the creepy birdhead. The thought of putting her mouth onto it almost made her shudder, but she'd put her mouth on worse.

"Thanks, I guess. Hopefully I won't have to use this, though."
"Whaaaaaaaaat~~~~? Excuuuuse me? ヽ(ಠ_ಠ)ノ. Shes tots adorbs you silly billy (^v^)

"Beats me ¯\(ツ)/¯. If it was a actual bird than it must had been a cutiepie o(〃^▽^〃)o"

(I've risen from the grave. Apologies for the delay as I was no-lifing for a few days, and will be back to this now.)

"Yeah... uh... cool. She's very... cute." Demiólke gives her an awkward thumbs up, "I'll just... take that."

She awkwardly takes the bird head and hooks it to her shorts. "So, yeah. You guys just lay low while me and Dak scout... and uh... don't get caught. Or you'll die. Probably."

"I'm sure that will be totally easy..." Neltharion muttered, giving a sigh as she gave a slight glares to the adult children running around... but she didn't have very long to be pissy, considering they were sitting ducks out in the open.

"I have a feeling that I need to fear for my life around you...." he watched as Amalie handed Demi the bird trinket, still grossed out by it.

Quickly turning his head, the elf began walking in the direction the arrow on the sign pointed, silently gesturing to Demi to start heading out with him.

Demi silently nodded, following Dakath. It only took a few moments for them to get out of sight, though for anyone lacking night vision, they would've been out of sight long ago. After about a few minutes of walking, Demi and Dakath would notice that there was a faint light in the distance...

Meanwhile...

Demi and Dakath had left sight or earshot, and now the rest of the party was left alone to their own devices. There were no immediate threats, but the feeling that they were in immediate danger couldn't be shaken. For now, though, all one could do was familiarize themselves with the environment and hope they were ready for battle.

Detecting the slowed his pace, and drew the bow from behind his back.

“Ready yourself; the enemy is likely in front of us.” He told Demi.

Unbeknownst to them, Chester had split himself to create an army of small clones and sent them after Demi and Dakath. They were disguised as a group of flying insects that resembled moths and having gotten a good whiff of Basil's perfume earlier, he also replicated the same scent for each of them to further hide their presence.
"No, we're not spying on them. We're just giving them some extra eyes and ears!"

Demiólke nodded, stopping once they'd gotten somewhat close to the light, but not close enough to see exactly what it was.

"You wanna go first, or should I?" She whispered.

“I’ll go, if you don’t mind. The enemy shall be slain before they know we are here!” He quietly exclaimed, making sure to not alert whatever might await them.

Putting an arrow into his bow, Dakath ran towards the origin of the light and aimed his shot at whatever living being he saw first.

Dakath was swift to find that there... were no living beings in sight. In fact, what greeted him, and soon Demiólke when she stepped forward after him, was a large pool of uncanny blue water surrounded by various oceanic formations such as large coral and seaweed, which had taken on weird neon colors that made them seem artificial.. The ground had turned from green grassland to a hard, rough purple exterior, akin to stone. The pool of water seemed to be the source of the glow they'd seen in the distance.

While Demi left to scout, Basil slowly began to walk around the grassland, studying the plants beneath his feet. The grass seemed quite...normal from his perspective, but given the supernatural nature of the water, he found it prudent to check regardless. He gently plucked a blade from the ground, holding it to his eyes.

"Try not to get poisoned, Basil. I doubt there are antidotes for the toxins in this accursed place." Neltharion's voice came behind the researcher, having wandered over to him with lack of any better options to stand without appearing like a draconic gargoyle of a woman

As Basil moved closer to the grass, it seemed to "recoil" away from him— the malleable, buoyant earth moved downward, creating a crater of sorts in which his hand would grasp at empty space. He was able to pluck a single blade of grass after moving quicker than the ground could avoid his touch, but it seemed that it had no intention to allow him to extract anymore from it.

"Watcha doing (^▽^)?"

Amalie finished her trinket organization and nows scuffs around the party.

"Ooooooh, plant picking (•ˋ _ ˊ•) Thats cool"

"I've seen knowledgeable men die..." Neltharion muttered to herself, closing her eyes to recollect herself and appear calmer, though she held quite a bit of fear on the inside... what was it dad always said? "Only a fool or a maniac is never afraid, only a child or a coward lets her fear master him. It is the mark of a Warrior that she masters her fears." something like that...

Neltharion feels her hairs stand up and a shiver run down her spine as she is afflicted WITH CRINGE for that zesty ass line.

"You don't need to worry, Miss. I've built up something of a...resilience to such things. A bit of mithridatism does go a long way, when done carefully." Basil said, not turning away from his discovery.

Basil glanced down at the crater as it formed, raising an eyebrow.

"...Strange. It didn't respond to being trodden upon...yet it reacts when you try to pluck it. Perhaps a defense against predators?" Basil murmured. He turned his attention back to the blade of grass, curious if it would react to being separated from the ground.

The blade of grass seemed to be limply wiggling and writhing, almost akin to a worm being picked up. It tried to pick at Basil's skin with its edge, and succeeded in scraping at his skin, albeit minutely.

Sighing, the elf softened his grip on the bow, and relaxed. He was quite mesmerized by the water, as well as all if the strange terrain surrounding it.

“Hey, Demi! It was just another glowing pool of water! It’s safe!” He shouted to the demoness.

"Seems like glowing water's becoming a trend..." Demi walks up to Dakath, standing next to him. "I don't sense anything around, so—"

Just as she is about to speak, however, the water begins to bubble.

“Does….that happen often to glowing water?” He asked Demi, as he began backing up from the bubbling liquid.

"No? I think? I don't uh... I don't really know how glowing water works—" Demiólke takes a few steps back, as it seems as if something is beginning to rise from the glowing water.

The blade of grass seemed to be limply wiggling and writhing, almost akin to a worm being picked up. It tried to pick at Basil's skin with its edge, and succeeded in scraping at his skin, albeit minutely.
Basil studied the blade for a few more moments, a hand quickly moving to grasp the side of its 'edge' to prevent it from cutting him further.

"I would suggest not laying on the grass." He called out to the party.

"It seems to have some...rudimentary instinct for self-preservation. It may be carnivorous."

“Ugh, what now?”

Jumping further back, he pulled out another arrow, ready to skewering whatever came out of the water.

Something is rising from the water. The duo of scouts begin to feel a chill run up their spine. It becomes evident that whatever is about to face them is no run of the mill opponent— no, it's far beyond that. Something dangerous. Something ferocious. An apex predator, if you will...

...a big smiling whale.

"WELL HOWDY THERE STRANGERS!!!!!!!"

The whale spoke, and it's Voice was incredibly loud, and it seemed to make the whole area for miles rumble. For Dakath and Demiólke with their advanced senses, especially Dakath, such an incredibly loud, catastrophic, booming voice was likely incredibly grating.

"Wooooooooowzer! ಠ_ಠ Did you guys feel that? (|||❛︵❛。) Big ol' earthquake hitting us right now or what? (ᗒᗩᗕ)"

(I had to rewrite my previous comment because @Backbackback seems to be busy and couldn't carry out our original posting plan. Sad)

"God damn! I thought something blew up for a second there. We can feel its voice all the way from here. Good thing I lowered the volume before it got too bad."
The moths were momentarily shaken by the incredibly loud sound but were otherwise unbothered.

"Yes. I'm sure stealth went grand." Neltharion said with an aggravated voice, but she held steady, unless everyone else started going in, she wasn't about to say '**** it' and leave over half her team without their tank, much as she had to grit her teeth and clench Scaleshard and her shield really, really hard to stop herself from doing just that.

Basil gingerly dropped the grass he was examining to the ground, glancing in the direction of the two scouts.

"...An earthquake? Or...maybe the roar of some kind of...megafauna. But...something that couldn't have written the sign..." Basil murmured.
