Dungeons & Divers (RP Thread)

Something is rising from the water. The duo of scouts begin to feel a chill run up their spine. It becomes evident that whatever is about to face them is no run of the mill opponent— no, it's far beyond that. Something dangerous. Something ferocious. An apex predator, if you will...

...a big smiling whale.

"WELL HOWDY THERE STRANGERS!!!!!!!"

The whale spoke, and it's Voice was incredibly loud, and it seemed to make the whole area for miles rumble. For Dakath and Demiólke with their advanced senses, especially Dakath, such an incredibly loud, catastrophic, booming voice was likely incredibly grating.
"What made that noise?" he asked himself

(I had to rewrite my previous comment because @Backbackback seems to be busy and couldn't carry out our original posting plan. Sad)
(I somehow didn't receive notifs from this. Damn)
"God damn! I thought something blew up for a second there. We can feel its voice all the way from here. Good thing I lowered the volume before it got too bad."
The moths were momentarily shaken by the incredibly loud sound but were otherwise unbothered.
Blythe, who was enjoying the ride and humming to herself, suddenly felt a little startled by the sound. Though she'd naturally giggle it out.
"Fufu~! Make sure you steer clear so I could get a good view of my Demi~ We wouldn't want to see the actress fail her part in the play~"

The booming voice forced Dakath to drop his bow and kneel to the floor in pain, grabbing at his over-sized ears. Despite the whale's friendly demeanor, it had caused him more pain than he had experienced in a long while.

"AGGHHHH!! W-What is this torturous noise?!" the elf cried out in agony, still covering his ears.

(I’m so sorry for taking so long, I thought I already posted this lmao)

Basil gingerly dropped the grass he was examining to the ground, glancing in the direction of the two scouts.

"...An earthquake? Or...maybe the roar of some kind of...megafauna. But...something that couldn't have written the sign..." Basil murmured.
"I'm going to go with Megafauna myself, knowing my luck." Neltharion muttered to herself

(That's quite Eary)

Demiólke had covered her similarly pointed ears, feeling as if her eardrums were about to pop like soap bubbles. "WHAT THE F*CK!? GAHH!!"

"Hahaha! Many apologies for the loud noise, friends! I just haven't seen people in quite some time!" The whale's voice became a great deal quieter and the violent rumbling of the environment slowly ceased.

The noise from the creature’s initial entrance was still ringing like a bell inside the elf’s head, disorienting him. Still, after a few moments to breathe, he slowly got back up to his feet.

“Ugh…j-just try to keep it down from now on, yeah?” Dakath said to the whale.

"It seems like a big friendly giant at least. More importantly, look at how much meat it has!"
One of the moths landed on top of the whale and bit into it just to see what it tasted like.

"Of course, of course, friends!" Said the big, happy, blue whale. "I see you read the sign I'd put up O' so many years ago! Many think to go in the exact OPPOSITE direction instead of where I tell them."

"Well, yeah... most people think sh*t like that is a trap..." Says Demiólke, "For really obvious reasons..."

"I see! I suppose I should keep that in mind." Says the whale.

The attempt to bite the whale's flesh is largely unsuccessful, as the moth thing finds that it's skin is incredibly, incredibly, incredibly tough. Not only that, the moth is promptly blown up by a mysterious force. And now it's gone.

"Ha! It cannot only talk but can also use magic as well. Interesting."

“Thank you….friend.” He tentatively responded, still not entirely sure whether or not to trust the whale. Nonetheless, he needed to play into its personality, and not alert the creature to his suspicions.

“The name’s Dakath, and this here is Demiólke!” The elf pointed to the demoness near him. “You got a name, big fella?”

Demi didn't know how she felt about him just giving out her name to this thing, but... that was probably the least of their concerns. She wasn't exactly a conversationist, so she stood back and let Dakath do the talking.

"Who, me? The name is Humphrey. That's H.U.M.P.H.R.E.Y. Humphrey! I keep watch around these parts for wayward little critters like you and your gang back there!" Says Humphrey, clearly knowing that Dakath and Demiólke weren't alone.

"A rather perceptive creature we have here. Let's hope it is as peaceful as its name suggests."

“Well, it’s good to meet you, Humphrey! But uh, quick question; how did you know about our group?” Dakar’s asked.

(You cannot have possibly walked several dozen miles with nobody pointing out that you're gone or following you dawg. You can't just clip across the map. 🗿 )

"I'm a sort of keeper around these parts, you see. I know everything that happens, everybody who comes in, and all of that!" Says Humphrey, "Can't move from this here pool of water, though. Cause I can't walk! Or fly! Haha!"

“Hahaha, I suppose not!” He laughed, trying to appeal to the whales sense of humor.

Dakath fully put away his bow into its place on his back, and cracked a few joints. “So then, Humphrey, how long you been here? I know some of your kind can live quite a while!”

"Who knows? A million years? Ten years? 4 seconds? Negative 30,000 nanoseconds? Time begins to lose meaning in this place." Explained Humphrey, "After a while, you stop being able to tell if an hour has passed or if a second has passed."

Basil glanced towards Eldrian as they left in the direction of the noise, folding his arms.

"...Well I doubt they are much concerned with stealth anymore...given the circumstances." He said. He glanced back towards the party.

"...I would like to see this...creature, or whatever it is that is making those tremors, for myself. Erm...research purposes and such." He added the last sentence almost as an afterthought.

“That’s…quite scary, actually. So I take it time works a bit funky down here, correct?”

"You'll see soon enough!" Says Humphrey, "Either way, I believe you may want to return to your friends and bring them to me. I fear they've already begun being pursued..."

"A warning for us? How considerate!"
While continuing to watch them through the moths, Chester scanned the group's surroundings with his acute senses to detect any incoming threats.

"Where is it?" he said to himself still going to where the loud voice was at
"Those two will probably get themselves killed just wandering off like that. Good for them!"

"Oh noes! There's a giant monster coming to get us that way guys! We should go the opposite direction instead! Fufufu!", he replied sarcastically while doing a poor imitation of her voice

"Hahaha! Your impressions are always funny~ We could double up on the fun with that~!"

"You'll see soon enough!" Says Humphrey, "Either way, I believe you may want to return to your friends and bring them to me. I fear they've already begun being pursued..."
“Wait, they’re being pursued?! Dammit, we’ve got to warn the rest of the group!” He exclaimed, quickly rising to his feet. “Humphrey, what exactly is it that’s after them?”

"I'd be happy to explain! You see.... &+>+[*2(1]1[#*1[[×[×[×#^%‰₩#№¡#×[+." Humphrey speaks, but the words come out as incomprehensible static. "Did you get that? @&@>+^ ::ĉ9qoa」〔@*+."

"W-What- What the f*ck is he saying, do you know what the f*ck he's saying???" Demiólke had immediately begun to panic, her pointed ears twitching as she heard the whale's incomprehensible noises. She turned back, considering leaving Dakath behind to get back to the party, but was reluctant.

"Hmmmmm, I have a bad feeling guys (。•́︿•̀。)."

Amalie scans her surroundings frantically.

"Its a gut feeling of mine ( ̄ヘ ̄). It normally only comes up when I'm about to die though ( ̄ω ̄). I would get ready, its rarely good when my tummy's twisting (╥﹏╥)"

"It's probably something that's happening with the rest, there's a chance that whatever happens there gets here."
