Also Asta slaughters, not really a fan of this match but I guess it's better than Deku vs Gon, OK that's a lie, it's really not. From the top of my head the only connections I can think of are just basic shonen tropes. At least Gon's main form of attack was also "hit good", Asta fights with a sword.

Okay, finally just sat through Sauron vs Lich King.

Man that fight was epic as shit. Sauron was a complete badass throughout that thing, while still showing Arthas to be physically powerful. This might also be my favorite OST, I just love the epic orchestral stuff too much. Plus honestly, the main analysis was also just super good. It showed both their strengths in abilities and as characters in their stories.

10/10.

Also this one too

A Fate matchup is overdue.

All but Spawn

Aight, Ivy vs Kurama it is then
Or, Ivy vs Hashirama Senju

Reason why some production crew prefer Deku vs Asta instead of Deku vs Gon and Asta vs Meliodas
I thought the production crew were just doing their jobs, not deserving personal threats. Now I am not so sure. And this is not my own idea.

Deku and Asta should be comparable in AP if they scale Izuku to Prime All Might (Might be a big IF) who was at small country level. No idea where Asta's power falls, VsWiki puts him at Large Country though.

I don't think Mu is bad just eh

Far better than most of Deku options barring Gon but not one I look for Asta
If you told me the match was picked out of a hat I'd believe you, it literally just seems like a random match because they wanted to do Deku before MHA ends and didn't like Gon, Kamala, Miles or Lee so they just picked a currently running Shonen Jump character at random.

I mean Asta and Deku do have a massive list of connections and similarities to be fair, plus it did have some support before it was announced so it’s not totally out of the blue, just wasn’t the most popular match for either

I just read the connections off the wiki page, most of those are pretty generic shonen tropes and also apply to Naruto.

Literally everyone said Archie Silver stood zero chance against Xeno Trunks(every reddit voting post had like 90% of votes for Xeno Trunks lol) and just look at how wrong they were proven, again depending on what DB buys it can be close versus debating forums for the most part only hold someone like All Might at mountain or island level but the researchers may come back with something higher.

btw not saying DB is always right with there research for verdict mind you, at the end of the day it is just a glorified fanfic show to stir up drama within the community which gives them ratings. As it effectively creates a crossover between 2 series/characters and how they interact, obviously Deku and Asta would never try to kill eachother in a random encounter but that's just the little twist at the end.

End of the day as long as the episodes good and entertaining then it's fine, if it's true that Deku and Asta have better connections than Gon and Meliodas then that just makes me all the more interested.

plus we still get a brand new series added, mha coming back on the show and getting to hear Wiz, Boomstick and Jocelyn(maybe) cover the characters/series lore and power system I'm all for.
Hey! I was rallying for Silver. Everything I said in Silver's case was true for his win too :) <

Western censorship and moral standards are still alien to me (Even if Mel was hypothetically "banned"). I mean we already had a genocider, a child murder and despotic tyrant on DB this season (and that's just the Marvel/DC characters) plus the show is about characters fighting to (sometimes a gruesome) death.
I'm pretty sure the mentality was that Mel's stuff was pretty disgusting and was treated as a normal and not bad thing in the world. Meanwhile the genocider, child murderer, and despotic tyrant or notably treated AS villains and bad people and their behavior isn't normal in any way.
Sauron VS The Lich King is a pretty rad fight. Wished they brought their army and Lich King does more spells but the fight itself while short is awesome and tense.
Unsure about Deku and Asta but even with my no knowledge on these two, even I find the MU choice odd.

Yeah, seems like an inconsistent reasoning. Though I guess for Homelander doing uh not good things to Starlight, he's a villain so it's fine get his shit kicked in but they didn't go with Meliodas due to being a hero of his series and the context around with roughly the same "uncomfortable" trait yet it doesn't present it as bad in narrative (I have little knowledge on Seven Deadly Sins, just going off from what I heard). Not sure where the James Bond part comes from, though.

Not to mention DB already had "pedos" in DEATH BATTLE before like Hal Jordan (before it got retconned or ignored), Deathstroke (Terra cough cough) and Wiz with his crush on teen Zuko.

Guess this means Seven Deadly Sins are unlikely to be on DEATH BATTLE?
For the Hal example, they noted that is a single uncomfortable instance in a character spanning decades worth of material, vs a character in which the uncomfortable shit is literally their entire storyline in the show lol
I mean even ignoring that going based off of Japan's laws 16 is the age of consent over there and in many countries 16 is of legal age even including the UK.

Sure Meliodas is apart of the perverted troup in anime(make it what you will) as it's played for comedic effect, but besides from that(DB has had perverted characters on the show like Jiraiya and Roshi) I don't really see the major issue, she's not drawn to look like a child, anyone that is even remotely familarised with NNT knows Meli and Elis long life relationship, I can get some people feeling uncomfortable with the ages said but going based of everything there this is hardly anything that'd prevent him coming to DB(though this doesn't matter since they confirmed it doesn't)

edit; not condoning it in anyway just shedding some light on the subject, reading the terrain.

A reminder DB brought Ryuko onto the show, who's main stiqck is not only stripping naked but is a teenager but NOTHING was preventing them from bringing her in.
Isn't Ryuko's entire story about body acceptance though. Its a little odd when viewed from the angle of being underaged but I've heard a lot of people getting value out of that story. Meanwhile I don't think anyone would get much but bad vibes over someone holding a literal actual infant and calling it "his woman".

so asta has better class t lifting strength?
Yeah
Anyway what will db need to do if they want to make deku win?

what exactly is needed?
High ball everything Deku has and Low ball everything Asta has and make Deku's IQ and possibly longer time limit (idk how long it is) huge factors to win

and how strong is lowballed asta because if they really want deku to win then lowball asta
Mountain level in base? Large Island/Small Country with transformations

Speed wise though, I don't see how they could put base Asta lower than Relativistic without giving him peak human speed, and I don't know any speed feats past Relativistic for MHA

So based on VS Battles profiles and vs forums Asta solos the MHA verse right? ooc?
Pretty much. With equal speed, SNS and Shigaraki should be the only thing threatening Asta due to hax. Unequalize speed and it gets ugly.
edit; I never realised Black Clover characters were so OP, I never really see anyone talk about them.
BC has a bad rep in the anime community so figures.
Would someone like Mob from Mob Psycho 100 or Kakashi or some mid tier Naruto Shippuden character be a closer match for Asta?
In a speed unequal format, not really?
So like

Does Asta beat current Luffy? Going based off of the profiles both are high 6-A but Asta is faster as he's MFTL vs Luffy being FTL+
Luffy is pretty much immune to blunt strikes and has Durability Negation, plus he can have higher lifting strength, precog and skill are debatable. If speed, Asta's only major advantage, is equalized he loses.

What are the connections between Deku and Gon again? I can't think of any other than their hair color

Asta and Deku have way more similarities than Gon and Deku lmao.

I'm still baffled why people want Deku vs Gon, it's just as much of a stomp as people think Asta vs Deku is.

They both wear green and fight H2H.

honestly it feels more like people just wanted to have a HXH matchup or think we still living in 2017 where Deku breaks his bones in tournament arcs.

I mean country vs continent and relativistic-FTL vs FTL+ doesn't sound nearly as one sided as so many matchups DB has done this season or even through the series history.

A reminder they did Omni-Man vs Homelander, a building level character putted against a planet buster just think about that. Or Spongebob vs SF Aquaman which was so cartoonishly unfair even the screw was so deliberal about it.
I really doubt they’re putting Deku anywhere near Relativistic or FTL unless they’re giving him max leniency

I think they will go for Planet Level Boros instead of Multi Continental
Saitama VS Popeye has already done this.
According to DB's Invincible stats though, Battle Beast should disgustingly take speed.
That's right.

It surprises me. I will bring more obscure matchups.
Hot Take: Deku should have fought Will Stronghold from SkyHigh
Another fine addition of obscure matchups.

Deku vs Gon seems like leftover for his earlier MU, but Deku is kinda stomping that nowadays.

I did not expect Deku vs Asta to be this salty in reception. It's the most hated MU this season which is really weird.
I was kinda expecting it no matter who they picked for Deku, bro has too many MUs that people like.
