DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (2024–2025) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Sonic tax?
Essentially, the argument from incredulity that plagues the Sonic franchise both in and out the Vs community due to mUh fUrRies and the "bad" rep the Sonic fanbase has, it's a poor attempt of so called "normal" peeps to hide their thinly veiled hate, disgust and outright bullying towards the Sonic franchise and it's fans through the flawed, hypocritical "logic" of being even more toxic than the toxic fanbase from downplaying Sonic as low as possible (both in Vs debating as well as cultural impact) to outright attacking people IRL for even liking a Sonic game and everything in-between. "Normal" peeps find a rich man with mental issues dressing as bat and beating up people or an alien survivor of a genocide with god-like powers fine but a blue hedgehog with super speed is where they draw the line? Seriously?

Ofc these are very extreme examples that I'm sure the DB team doesn't really indulge in but many of their followers do unfortunately (e.g scrutinizing the heck out of Sonic games while other franchises get a free pass) it's why quite a few Sonic fans have become very defensive and cynical in recent times after years of torment (any criticism is usually seen as an attack now).

It's why I don't give MLP or Fairy Tail fans a hard time since I can kinda understand having to become numb to the hate.

I like Yujiro vs Homelander. It's not that thematic but it does have a really cool vibe to it. Also it'd be cool if they fought in the white house.
For actually thematic Matchups, Hayato or Akuma, Yujiro looses both unless they bring up the Isekia.
Hayato is debatable and he lose to Akuma.

Baki the grappler stats and P&A aren’t really updated because they keep getting stonewalled by people here. But it’s a lot stronger than people give it credit for.

Hayato should have relativistic to light speed stuff due to Tokiwa Kitareri scaling (he's part of the previous hero party and scales to the other members of the heroes party and the current party) so I think Hayato winning makes a fair amount of sense from how I understand Baki speed scaling.
The only way I think Yujiro would win is though again scaling from the Restu Isekia which I personally think would be kinda debatable.

Yujiro vs Homelander actually is pretty thematic, especially if you think about what they're setting up with Ryan.

Plus, considering how Homelander at 16 was completely unfazed by that mid-8-A explosion, he might actually be able to hold his own for a bit, though Yujiro at this point does upscale a lot from his earthquake calc too.

So what is Yujiro's best matchup these days? Last time I checked it was Garou
eh that mu only works with Human Garou and even then it wasn't his best

akuma vs yujiro makes sense and easy to get tho yujiro get his cheeks clapped there i feel the mu make sense for a future runback
hayato vs yujiro is fun but relys on yujiro carrying in terms of clicks and kenichi not being up there in popularity these days
HL vs Yujiro i get but idk feels somewhat eh on the mu in terms of overall asthetics

What's crazy is that I see certain staff on this very site succumb to this mentality. Can something new leave your mouth besides "Sonic fans deserve nothing" or "Sonic fans bad"?

At least be ORIGINAL.

Yeah, it really is something. I won't be going out of my way to attack fans of stuff, even if people at times can get crazy as ****. But yeah, I'd say the DB team doesn't really indulge in what you described, but followers? Think I've seen it happen time to time.

Alright I know you guys have a hate boner towards Nem or whatever, but he does bring up a good point about Gioker. Giorno kinda is not characterized all that well

I would like to argue the lack of media clips didn’t help matters either. But yeah, Nem brings up good a good points that they didn’t go into the characterization of Giorno and were hoping that people already knew what his deal was which would’ve worked if this episode happened in 2019-2021

Nem's take on Omnidock was so bad. The damage control for bad arguments was eye-rolling. He loses credibility and comes across as a meat-rider.

He's also whiny whenever someone expressess contention or disagreement. Which is ironic because this space is vs debating, not vs agreeing.
Vs agreeing, sounds like an extreme law ending from SMT tbh.
So Joker vs Giorno is our Halloween episode right?

We got ghosts, we got demons, we literally have Satan himself from before his fall.
I mean you're not wrong.

Also a minor shot and killed another minor with a gun while using the angel of darkness, so context...?

Those reasons are garbage to count an episode as halloween episode or that it aired around the halloween

The ones we had themed around it and were made specifically for that are truly the halloween ones, not ahit like ryu vs scorpion or giorno vs joker which wasnt anyway planned as halloween one
