Ninth round of the 8-B Brackets Begins! The winner of the last round was Kai.

The contenders for this round are the Adam Taurus, submitted by DragonEmporer, and Azula, submitted by MrCommonSense.

Sozin's Comet is active, speed is equalized. Battle takes place at the location of Azula and Zuko's final Agi Kai.

Adam is above 18.8 Tons, Azula is 13 Tons.

Adam seems to have a better and varied skillset, absorption and AP advantage.

Unless this goes super south, I'll vote Adam
 
Yeah I personally see Adam taking this too.

Azula's AoE fire attacks make absorbing her attack energy rather difficult, but it will take a while for her to wear out his aura, and even then he should still be able to absorb portions of it and fire them back at her. Granted she is pretty dang good at avoiding and countering attacks, and flight helps her a bunch, but she will probably not catch on that she is basically supplying Adam with more ammunition.

Lightning might jolt Adam out of composition and leave him open to follow-up attacks, but since it's focused in one area it's far easer for him to absorb it.

Adam can both play well in close and long ranged combat, while Azula will certainly be oofed by him if he manages to close distance.
 
Adam's amping relies on him absorbing energy from Azula's attacks, which will be impossible to cover the energy of an AoE fire attack. That said he shouldn't have trouble redirecting Azula's lightning energy.
 
Adam scales above a 1.4x AP advantage, but let's see.

While Azula and Adam arguably have comparable skill, Azula is kind of a one-trick pony, winning with fire and only fire. Adam has more skills to call on, his forcefield can help him deal with Azula's fire, and he will also be absorbing her energy as time goes on.

Tentatively voting Adam but his arrogance could trip him up
 
Azula is City Block dura with fire shields, and apparently is Large Building by herself. Adam gets a good hit on her and he'll be golden
 
Azula should have 8-B durability considering she survives blasts from Zuku's fires during her Agni Kai with him.

That put she can use fire as sheilding regardless.
 
Damn, someone better start voting for Azula, given most reasons argue how close she is to Adam skillwise
 
That doesn't really make much sense, considering she gets directly hit by Zuko's fires while they're also amped by Sozin's Comet. But I digress.
 
Alright, I can see why Adam has the edge when it comes to absorption. However, my vote will go to Azula.

The main reasons for this.

1. Close quarter combat is a high specialty for Azula. Avatar Book 3 during the Black Sun Arc, Azula was capable of fighting Aang, Toph, and Zuko with a hint of high level keep away without having any of her powers. She has soon lots of close quarter combat without resorting to her firebending in fights with Kyoshi Warriors, who happen to be recognized as one of the top elite fighters in Avatar verse.

2. The firebending is heavily profound in her combat. I know Adam has shields, but constant blaze will definitely be knocking down Adams shield especially when you look back to RWBY season 3 arc.

A flame torando in episode RWBY Volume 3, Chapter 5: Never Miss a Beat: was capable of completely depleating Weiss aura from 40 to 0. Flynt aura to 55 to 16. Weiss was out of commission for the battle with her aura completely at 0. This was just from a 5 second flame torando.

If a 5 second flame torando is capable of taking off 40% of aura. The existence of a Azula's fire has so much time of lasting longer than 5 seconds is not only going to burn away the aura, but will break through the Adam's shield to get to his actual health. Flame Torando

Now imagine the precise combat of one of the elite firebenders constantly on Adam with so much AoE blaze. Adam's shield is going to fall really fast.

3. Flight is on Azula's side.

4. I can see Azula playing on Adam's arrogance if the match doesn't end to fast.

CQC is bad for Azula because then Adam can absorb her attacks and then laser beam her. That 40% Flame Tornado would really boost Adam's semblance up and then he could do to her what he did to the Droid.
 
More concentrated fire attacks would actually be a terrible idea since that means Adam will have an easier time absorbing them.

I skipped it since Anton was having blackouts and wouldn't have had an oppertunity to post on it.

Azula will recongize the absoportation works through contact with his blade. Azula will make sure if she does go for CQC. She won't be aiming for his sword but his actual body. If, not she will stick to heavy fire blazes for more AoE range and having flight on her side makes it more easy for her.
 
Azula doesn't have 8-B striking strength even under Sozin's Comet. Engaging Adam in close-quarters-combat, especially when he has a sword that gives him far more reach than Azula's arms, is suicide.

I don't think she would go for that though, seeing as they start at long range and she wouldn't want to approach someone who can take her fires to the face and continue fighting.
 
@Common Yang knew exactly how hosnsemvlance worked and tried to avoid the swordnbut adam was still able to use it
