My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

I assume because we have the Viz translations, we don't need spoiler tag anymore. I just can't wait to see how Deku's gonna come back from this. Like will he get his arms back or will he just stay a kick god to win the day? I genuinely have no idea and it's making me very excited because I genuinely thought the inner world part would be the end of the entire fight and now it seems we're getting a Round 3

I hope that a lot more characters jump in here. One of my favorite things about Fullmetal Alchemist's final arc (which is one of my favorite shonen final arcs) is that all of the side characters get to chip in and help attack Father even if the very end did come down to a brawl between Father and Edward Elric. Having all the side characters here fight All For One would be great.

I feel like people would be annoyed by that, but really, with those kinds of people, it's a lose-lose situation. First they'll complain about the side characters getting no screentime, and then if they jump into a big fight like this, they'll be like "why are these irrelevant characters here?" I think they just want to be upset for the sake of being upset, honestly...

Speaking of fights like that, Magna vs. Dante is one of my favorite Black Clover fights because it's a side character that got heavily power crept taking down one of the biggest antagonists of the arc on his own via a perfectly explained mechanic. Not to mention, it tied into his character arc wonderfully.

On the topic of raid battle final bosses, I have an example I like

Like in Mashle, everyone was ganging up on Innocent Zero. Like, despite the heavy injuries they all endured, the characters still fought on, because they believed that Mash could handle him. They fought on in hipes that he would return, all because they had faith he could get it done. Even when he temporarily died, they gave everything they had left to protect Mash and to stall Innocent Zero, even if it did nothing against him. Fights like these show how far the protagonist has gotten, now having people by their side with their full faith on them. True friends.

I knew the mindscape stuff wouldn't be the end of the fight. But yeah, I really didn't see this kind of backup coming.

Considering Kurogiri/Shirakumo is helping out now, anyone can technically join in right now, assuming they're still conscious and capable of fighting. We know Present Mic was with Aizawa as well so he's either going to show up or is doing something else. And who knows what they've all been doing until now.

And with Decay gone, even if AFO can use his Quirks, they don't need to worry about dying just from being in contact with the ground. There's no way he isn't weakened as well, meaning they can actually stand more of a chance against him. Obviously that body in peak condition is impossible to defeat without Izuku at his peak.

Mirko comes back, shows Izuku how you can still fight with no arms.

Izuku needs to be treated at the least, he'll bleed out with those wounds. Maybe Best Jeanist got back up and can cast his arms quickly.

Gentle is still available, even if he ran out of Lover Mode, I'm sure he'd be useful. There's a lot of things that can happen right now, I honestly can't predict how this'll go down.

This is the moment Koichi and Captain Celebrity finally come into the main series. I ain't coping.

Teamup battles are really good. It's why I like war arcs.

I kind of want to see what Deku has going for him with everything missing. He's Quirkless, his body's broken, he's bleeding out, and he's got no arms. There's a chance he does the "temporarily power up everyone at the cost of his own power" thing, or that he just lands that final blow when everyone needs him, but I also want to see what comes after that. There's the theory about him getting New Order, but that doesn't seem likely. I wanna see him with some dope-ass prosthetics, but it's probably gonna be an Eri save.

I'm betting a reveal is going to be that Izuku still has the stockpiled strength inside of him; he just can't use any of the One For All Quirks anymore.
That should be the case, the vestiges confirmed that the Quirk Factors and Vestiges don't hold the physical strength, but the actual Quirk OFA does. Deku merely transfered all of the Vestiges and Quirk factors to Shigaraki. If you remember, Yoichi's original Quirk Factor was the Quirk that passed on to others, not the Stockpile Quirk, so every Quirk aside from the Stockpile Quirk should be gone at this point. I don't see Horikoshi leaving Deku with nothing.

If not, then I genuinely don't know how Deku will keep fighting if he's back to being completely Quirkless...

There is not doubt. If giving away everything of OFA lets you keep the stored up strength, as shown with All Might and Izuku in Heroes Rising.

There's no way he's powerless right now even if he transferred everything. Which I doubt, as I do believe he has the stockpile Quirk itself inside of him.

You can see the fire in that one black panel, showing he still has the power just like All Might did.

So bro better get up and start kicking as hard as he can cause if Aizawa blinks or (due to his halved power) can’t fully erase AFO’s abilities, the SOS trio is gonna need as heavy a hitter as possible. And even if more people show up, a weakened Shigaraki-possessing AFO is still nothing I see many wounded heroes surviving against.

I know what deku must do

Saddened that quirks like Black Whip, Fa Jin, and Gear Shift are basically gone for good.

Since Yoichi is confirmed to be gone by AFO after the internal world bombardment, Danger Sense is basically the only vestige that is left of the original OFA users.

Black Whip being gone is the biggest L. To this day it’s still the coolest and most useful secondary Quirk Deku has ever gotten and I’m sad to see it’s gone now. In terms of my personal favorite secondary Quirks, the list would go…

1. Black Whip
2. Fa Jin
3. Gearshift
4. Danger Sense
5. Float
6. Smokescreen

at least he has stockpile, unironically how would have stockpiler have worked normally.

I feel like Deku might not have OFA but he has the embers still, and he’ll probably pour them all out into a final attack that wipes out AFO and the massive storm

What a ******* cope out. Shigaraki just got murdered as a characther and was just a puppet who never made a single decision in his life. How convenient.

Horikoshi probably didn't knew how to make deku save him from his hate so he just made shigaraki non evil in the first place, it was all AFO from the begining.
I don't think it murdered his character at all tbh. Most of shigaraki's life he was basically just being a destructive child. It's not like he's been very complex for a majority of his life and he only recently started growing to be his own person. His backstory might've been a decided for him, but a lot of his choices in leading the League and his relationships with them have been all his which makes this situation more tragic imo. Deku trying to save Shigaraki from himself is what probably did him in. He himself even said even if all his hate was taken away, he'd still continue on his path because he's not just fighting for himself or his vision anymore. He's doing it for the people he cares about. I don't know if he just realized that when Deku had him self reflect but he doesn't lose that complexity just because of this. Now I'm curious if Shigaraki tries to take himself and All for One out in order to feel like he still has some agency in his choices but I doubt Shigaraki is gone completely and I doubt he's going to take any of this lying down

Less of 1A, more of adult heroes.

I honestly don't want to see more of the students joining in unless it's for like a final blow type of thing.

I do however want to see more adult heroes like Ryukyu, 13, Vlad King (it's a crime we have never seen this guy fight), Shishido, Hound Dog, etc.

There's also the elusive MHA 2nd years, characters like Mirio who is still standing, and even someone like You Shindo who didn't really get to fight anyone. The Shiketsu kids should also be OK and ready to fight.

Heck, bring in foreign guys like Salaam and Big Red Dot. Last time we saw a scene of Salaam, he wanted to come over to Japan anyway despite his country trying to stop him.

And I don't even know if Horikoshi hates Vigilantes or not, but now would be the perfect time to bring in Koichi and Captain Celebrity. (Someone should ask Horikoshi about this. Not even a cameo for these guys).

Bring in all the movie heroes as well like that French hero with a music quirk.

Overall, I'd only bring in the rest of 1A like at the very end.

Just because he doesn't necessarily want to bring in characters from a spin-off of his manga doesn't mean he hates Vigilantes (especially since the final arc is already overloaded with tons of characters).
But not even a cameo? Even the movie characters got cameos.

Horikoshi supposedly reviews Vigilantes to keep it in line with the main canon.

At least I remember reading that in Vigs' first volume or so.

Most of the cast from class 1a are likely gone and not gonna be showing up in this fight. I would have like to see ochako beat up afo with gun head martial art 🤣. But currently I see her as being useless here given decay is gone already.

Tape dude and suger man are likely not gonna be doing any jjk logic here, afo was just caught off guard by them and didn't take any significant damage. I fully expect them to be practical useless here and we are gonna get another hero that actually has a fighting chance.

I also see eri rewinding overhaul hand back so he can help heal some hero as I don't see eri coming to the same battle field where afo is, overhaul getting his quirk back seems more logical here and seems like their best bet.

I also found it weird that we got to see other heroes/student being taken to a safe place but we didn't see the todoroki's getting taken away by anyone and neither did we even get a minor flash back on them.

With the recent popularity poll and horikoshi intentionally not showing the todoroki's, I fully expect shoto to pop in with an awakening. His awakening is something I simply can't predict, and horikoshi made it more unpredictable when he came up with phosphor being a technique for an ice and fire user.

Am also curious on if bakugo will show up again because dude looks way past his prime even with his awakening.
