DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Elbrus' surface is made up of like 40-200m of ice.
Its a bit sketchy to use in this context considering Pochita was out actively erasing concepts from history such as snow (not that it has anything to do with ice). So in the context of the scene an IRL study might not be reliable. Will still tackle it though.

Look I put the word grounded in quotes for a reason. I'm more talking about spectacle and general vibe, like when I think of a fight in Chainsaw Man I imagine a fight between characters who are Teir 8 at best and typically ending with one of the parties winning off of gimmicking their opponent while JJK has more grandiose shonen battles. The final battle of Part 1 ends with Denji gimmicking out Makima with Power's blood and Part 2 ends with the big final climatic battle the part was leading up to getting interupted in by bugs and ending abruptly.
CSM is more inline with something like Dorohedoro or Dandadan while JJK is more inline with like YuYu, MHA or early Bleach. It's more """grounded""" in turns of their depiction of grandeur.
As someone whose never read CSM, that sounds like the complete opposite of grounded, especially looking at what you're comparing it to. Yu Yu Hakusho is more grounded than Dorohedoro, the latter is more "esoteric" and "weird". I
Both spoilers you typed here sound less grounded to me than "two dudes kill each other other by punching the hell out of each other"

Whoever wins - @GunshyFever Loses
Not taking anymore L's around here, pushing that CSM agenda all the way!

Nah I totally get where you're coming from. If we were judging CSM just off of part 1 fights I'd be more inclined to agree 8 times out of 10. It's just (for me) all that gets thrown out the window the moment we move to part 2.
I mean sure, but one of the main things about Part 2 is that despite the apocalypse happening, we never really get to see the gravity of the situation. It wasn't treated with any higher stakes than anything else in the series, despite literally being the end of the world. Then the big final battle the entire arc is leading to ends with some of that offscreen haki™. Despite the implied escalation, I'd argue Part 2 really didn't escalate that much compared to Part 1, and when it did, it got slapped back down to the bottom.

Look, there's a difference between a big shonen fight and "I had to jump the main bad guy with an attack that only incapacitated her because fighting her head-on in a typical shonen way wouldn't work."
Whenever someone who moves like your typical shonen character shows up in Chainsaw Man, Denji usually ends up as a borderline corpse for most of the fight. The only time he wasn't, and even then he basically was, was in the fight he had with Yoru as Denjiman at the end of the series, but again, that ends with an intentional anti-climax where they both got offscreened by bugs.

Agenda aside, I think it could go either way ngl and I think how they handle speed and stats will play a major role. I do think it's possible they'd scale Yuji to Sukuna dodging Kashimo's attacks to even things out. I lean a bit closer to Yuji but won't be too surprised if Denji wins. I still think "eating the cursed energy devil" is pretty stupid for a wincon.

Rooting wise, I'm sorry, after that CSM ending, I need Yuji to massacre Denji bruh.

Dude idk how I feel about knowing the next time, cuz on one hand I love the hype of the reveal after the fight, but on the other hand I don’t wanna have to ignore all db stuff on the internet for a week just to not get spoiled.

Anyways bets on the reveal tomorrow?
Mr. Fantastic vs Mr. Terrific
Another Weekly Shonen Jump Fight
