Powerscalingwise, at least Comic Homelander went down swinging like a rabid dog. Live Action lander was extraordinarily pathetic and had an extraordinarily pathetic death, Anthony's acting was great though. And to think he used to be compared with Yujiro.

I never understood the comparison for Yujiro. I read the comic and watched the show and they’re completely different from what Yujiro is. Comic homelander is just an asshole until the end of the story where he thinks he’s some god amongst men until he realized that he never was. And show Homelander is so inconsistent when it comes to his character that for the final season, he just thinks he’s God, which again nothing to do with Yujiro as a character.

The thing with live action Homelander's pathetic ending is that conceptually it's perfect, this manchild who's coasted along because of his powers getting overpowered for once and becoming a spineless mess because he doesn't know how to respond or function like a normal human being is great. But the buildup to it was so rushed, barely did anything with it, and wrapped up so quickly that it just felt lame. It really feels like last season and esspecially this one they felt like they had to make the ending the same as the comic, realised they can't do that due to the differences the made for the first 3 seasons, and instead of trying to make an original ending that fits their version they scrambled to try and make the original ending work while trying to keep it in line with what they changed before hand and it just doesn't work.

It was ok ig? It's paced a lot better than I expected, and while I feel some characters did get satisfying endings, some others felt rushed and undercooked. I feel the rest of the season is what soured the finale for me, because in a vacuum, it's just kinda alright but could've been way better.

You described it perfectly ngl. When Homelander died like that, I should've felt a great level of catharsis and started cheering, but the whole season has been so whatever that all I feel "Oh FINALLY he's dead, moving on".

I'll be frank, it work on me, so I was really happy when he died, and I believe any normies might really happy about tv series Homelander died, but well, different views matter so it's not a big deal

I've been seeing Akemura Soga vs Ryomen Sukuna (Kagurabachi vs Jujutsu Kaisen) going around on twitter recently and I honestly really fw it? A lot moreso than a lot of other Sukuna MUs.

Basic connections for those curious:

  • Antagonistic uncles of the main protagonist from a previous era, and were hailed as the "strongest" of their respective era.
  • Both were raised into a world based highly on combat (Sukuna had to survive as a wretch in Heian era while Akemura was trained since young to become a swordsman)
  • Both were well known for causing a well known massacres that would be known for years to come, to the point the strongest fighters of their era would join together to fight them, only for them to fail (Sukuna would be opposed by the sun, moon and stars squads only to annihilate them, and go on to cause widespread chaos across Japan. Akemura would commit genocide on the Islanders, leading to his fellow sword bearers to team up against him, but Akemura proved too powerful)
  • Both are sealed through unconventional means (Sukuna allowed himself to be turned into fingers while Akemura willingly surrendered himself after he was done with his genocide)
  • Both would return in the modern era by an outside force who also has some connection to the protagonist (Kenjaku planned for Sukuna to take Yuji as his vessel while Yura attempted to get Akemura as his ally)
  • Both have a space cutting attack.
  • Both are Japanese tradionalists.
  • Both are polar opposites to one in another in background and ideology. Sukuna is heavily implied to be born as an unwanted peasant while Akemura hails from a royal bloodline. Sukuna believes the strongest should live purely for themselves, while Akemura believes the strongest should "protect" the weak by eliminating any potential threat to Japan.


Debate wise, while their physical stats aren't too far apart if you take JJK high ends, Akemura's kit is honestly kinda too busted for Sukuna (Passive life absorption + Death hax is a massive ooooof), and Mahoraga and WCS are probably his biggest chance at victory here. But I think with the way their powers work, I think there's heavy amounts of potential for great choreography, as well as Akemura insect theme shockwaves attacks going against Sukuna's fancy slashes.

I think banter and character interaction would also be really fun to do given how polar opposites they are, they would absolutely despise each other. there's also the fact that Sukuna likes to speak in a very poetic and grandiose manner while Akemura is very casual in his tone, I think it would make a funny contrast.

The biggest problem is that Akemura is pretty new to the party, having just made his major debut in december, and considering the Kagurabachi anime is coming out in only next year, I don't see this MU being done anytime soon.
