I think what tilts me so much about all this is that all three categories they gave are just utter nonsense if you took a bit of time to even look up what they're capable of:
Arsenal: They neglected to mention any of Megamind's more powerful kit and for some reason equalized them which is annoying because their weapons and tech are NOT comparable at all. Megamind has a serum to replicate Metroman's powers, and a rocket launcher that teleports you to an alternate dimension. You can't just scale them to one weapon (Shrink Ray) and not bring up literally every other weapon that could potentially counter one another's just comes across as biased from the jump.
Minions: Right, this one's just incredibly asinine. Claiming that one brainbot can't handle one minion isn't even true. A whole bunch of them were capable of restraining Tighten for 12 to 15 seconds, or hold back a fallen skyscraper thrown by him; hell, they were even able to fly just as fast if not even faster than him too. Tighten's already a bloodlusted Metro Man who's shoot-to-kill from the get-go so it makes zero sense to give the minions all that scaling but leave practically none for the brainbots. At best, it's very sloppy research, and at worst, it's mendacious.
Skill: This one's pissed me off the most lmao. You cannot claim that Megamind has no skill and compare this to a quick-draw match when you have Megamind literally reacted to Tighten's lasers which put Gru's hypersonic missile feat to shame so why bring up a much less effective one? It's like when they brought up Thor manhandling the World Serpent or neglecting to bring up his one-hit KO (The Godblast) during the Thor vs Wonder Woman episode; he has way better feats than you're showing off right now so why the hell are we not using them? It almost seems like you guys don't want to admit that Wonder Woman could've actually been beaten, even if you capped Thor at frickin' light speed like everyone else in Marvel that you considered at that time for some bizarre reason.
I loathe these reasonings in this category because they're such copouts for an actual argument; when you have a character who has way stronger tech, equipment, and weapons that could annihilate you but reduce their overall experience to that of an idiot, it doesn't make the idiot any less of a threat. It's so annoying but it's particularly worse here since you could only make this argument
after downplaying Megamind's attributes beforehand to make Gru seem just as powerful as him, if not even more.
Overall, this Death Battle's research and reasonings is just as good as the quality of the fight animation: Just abysmal and lazy all around. This would be a bit forgivable had they actually given everyone a well-choreographed fight worth watching but it's clearly not that. This is not worth the tens of thousands of dollars they raised in their Kickstarter if this is what they have to show for it lmao.
