DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Hey man, those games were awesome, that ain’t a game for chuds
Ok that doesnt mean in modern days they will know them, unlike marvel and dc, image crossovers are an one time thing, again outside Spawn whom had appearances in big media over the decades, people dont know other image characters

Even though I have the odds at 99.999-0.001 of Yusuke losing, I just know this know episode is going to have a "hear me out moment" for YYH's scaling

People acting like it wasnt wrong way back then too
Exactly, I'll admit I didn't mind Hiei winning at the time (even via a very dubiously inflated calc and assumptions on how Hiei resists all of Sasuke's insta-win hax) due to Hiei being a better representation of the foil/rival character (imo) and I being a salty Rock Lee fan that really dislikes Sasuke. Now that I think about it, all three of my favourite Naruto characters have all died on Death Battle (Lee, Gaara and Kakashi), sheesh!
The best you can argue is speed slightly but isn't to the point Luffy can blitz Naruto just counter's him hard
Funny how Luffy Vs Naruto was teased during the post-battle scene in Ichigo Vs Naruto all those years back.

Still fascinating to see the paradigm shift in the HST Vs community overtime with Ichigo now being in the same discussions as Goku, Saitama and other cosmic level characters while Luffy Vs Naruto is still very much considered a debatable MU across the Vs community.

Of course it's awesome, I played them. They were made for the chud!
I’M
NOT
A
CHUD!

Natsu debatable and the researchers have Luffy winning that one
He loses to the rest tho
Natsu is another character I've noticed whose scaling is all over place in the Vs community, I've seen him rated H6A to 5B on the Death Battle discord in the past (though the researchers likely have Luffy Haki blitzing him), here he is 5A with a ton of hax/hax resists and apparently he is rated tier 3 to 2 all over Vs social media due to "burning" time plus other similar esoteric feats.

The action is comics sucks and it probably has to do with both work schedule and executives pushing for the story to move on (Since their title can get cancelled at any moment). Some comic series can be like twenty issues long before ending/cancelled and a manga series can spend like twenty chapters on the same fight. There's also the fact that, at least for Marvel and DC, is that there's a massive shared continuity (Which isn't the hardest thing to follow, even if you're just focusing on one character) while manga typically just follows the one story.

This is mostly a Marvel and DC issue. I doubt too many people would have that problem reading something like Invincible, The Walking Dead, or Bone

Best anyone will know him from is the CGI movie Cartoon Network aired way back in the day
Hey, im sure Duncan's fodder ass is remembered even if its just from the CGI movie from way back. I've seen a lot of people talk about it... not the comics though. The unfinished comics... damn you Image....
These two again, arent well known if you watch just animated stuff, Spawn and Invincible had much more outside comics media to be known by people
Savage also had a cartoon, he was also voiced by Jim Cummings. Youngblood is probably less likely though, yeah, but if people know Spawn then I'd assume people would also know Youngblood since its tied directly to Spawn.

Spawn and Invincible the most notable image property of this day the rest suffer from lack of new material and adaptions to get folks to know them much
No lie, I remember watching the FireBreather movie, I enjoyed it expecting more and nope that was it (no sequel, no continuation, nothing) plus I had no idea he had comics too.

Had FireBreather got even a quarter of the exposure that Invincible and Spawn are getting, he'll probably be one of my favourite characters growing up (with the right authors, animators and artists ofc).

Actually, nah ima still do it just on my phone

Ladies and gentlemen, we are close to peak fiction. This is a project that I  know has a lot of passion in it and, if the video description is anything to go by, the start of something grand. So I do encourage yall to check out the video and, when the episode drops next month, see the animatic associated with it.

Im not actually a part of this episode (as far as I know) and it's entirely possible to be anyone's game, so don't think that just looking at Jigen's and Sniper's profiles here will tell the ending. This is any man's game but if there's one thing I know about these folks, is that they can write something truly insane.

It really comes down to distribution I feel.

I hate the massive misconception a lot of Comics vs Manga discussion spreads that capeshit + a few indies is primarily what comics are just because the big 2 are the most popular is really dumb, because that would be the equivalent of a western comic fan assuming all manga is shonen + a handful of non shonen and that's just insanely stupid.

But the problem also lies in that the reason those lesser known comics are lesser known is because of the poor distribution in comics. Not every country has a comic story, whereas you could easily buy a manga from a local book store, and with comics, they're more likely to sell them as big collections/volumes that cost way more.

Those compact editions DC released a while back are honestly much better solutions and I really wish other comic companies take note and follow through.

A while back, one twitter post was mocking comic books for having "leh comics too OP all the time" and then proceed to use Superman One Million, an alternate Superman from a possible future who is really not as powerful as the internet makes him out to be and only has a few appearances, and Mobius Chair Batman, who has very little actual combat feats outside of him being all knowable and comes from a specific arc never revisited again.

That's how you know the MFs never actually read what they're complaining about and why I usually don't take these discussions seriously. I don't like using this term but these are actual tourists.
