DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Me after rewatching Shigaraki vs Mahito again:

My biggest problem with Kratos vs Asura isn't specifically with what we got in the end overall, I actually thought it was pretty alright.

But when you consider that Kratos and Asura are two characters who are known to be do insane and over the top feats of strength and shit...seeing them do shit like breaking apart temples and barely causing much destruction leads to an extremely disappointing episode which squandered the potential this MU brings.

Frankly, I don't care if it had shown Kratos doing silly shit like flying across space and destroying planets and shit like that. That would've been far more entertaining than the final product we got.

Yeah no I'm betting and rooting Tomura now - tell Tom this git deserves the belt.

OK but fr, if Moro gave us a five-course main with Bowser vs Eggman, I think ShigiTo is more like a reasonably priced dessert. Ultimately I echo the sentiment of @0ホルスファルコン将軍0 (that @ doesn't seem to work for some reason...) in that there was some jank, but a chunk of that was deliberate because of the shifting proportions. Although... the scope here was a bit odd in the sense that the train cart didn't seem to move from one station (are all stops in Japan supposed to look the same?) and I think despite the analysis, the whole 'soul destroyed with just a touch' thing could have been communicated a little better, even if I do know what he was going for with the animation.

I think when Mahito whipped out his own Domain Expansion, I kinda got Sanji vs Rock Lee vibes in the sense that 'oh, it's the 2nd time we're seeing a specific ace in a short period of time season wise' and... I actually gel with that (before anyone takes that as an insult, I actually don't hate Sanji vs Rock Lee).

Skin Deep also has an interesting direction to it - defo getting Ikari vibes from it being entirely JP and all.

8.5-9/10, depending on the mood.

Meh can't really agree particularly because I did not like Asura getting rekt for like 70% of the fight
We had Mahito put up a better and had not a single won con according to the episode

Just noted in a rewatch that you can actually see a couple of times that whenever Mahito's attacks connect on Tomura, a vestige is shown in the background breaking apart. That's a pretty cool detail that lines up with their explanation on how Tomura's collection of Quirks shield him of Mahito's ability, but cause him to lose a Quirk each time, if I'm getting it right.

I admit, I was wrong and the animation quality is incredible.

However, I don't understand their penchant for stomps this season. Joker vs. Giorno, Fall Guys vs. Imposter, Mahito vs. Shigaraki were stomps, but they at least had some wincon in certain scenarios.

Doomslayer vs Chief...
1-C vs 7-B with maximum exaggeration

Hux with time dilation, temperature manipulation, reality and dimension destruction vs super technology
A deity with eons of experience vs a super soldier

It's so unfair that it doesn't make sense

Slayer really use any hax in a fight he just unga bunga shit
And he never destroyed anything on a cosmic scale he's pretty much a lore bro like Kratos

However, Chief won't be any more dangerous to him than Imp.

It's weird that they didn't make Slayer vs Dante

Daily reminder that kratos was killed by a concrete pillar....

It is funny..Because Cortana shaked an 12D multiverse, which means she has better lore, AND feats than doomslayer.

Why would they?
Outside demon they share nothing in common not to mention neither fighting styles clash very well
Dante have
Bayonetta for a rematch
Clive
Alucard (Castlevania)
Ryu hayubusa
For a Runback
I wouldn't say they don't go well together.

They have similar feats and they both rely on weapons.

Dante uses pistols, a shotgun, and Pandora's Box, while Doomguy uses his arsenal.

Dante uses hacks, while Doomguy uses Runes.

Dante uses swords and other arsenal, while Doomguy uses the Crucible and Hammer.

Dante uses Trickster, while Doomguy uses the grappling hook and dashes.

Dante uses the Guard, while Doomguy uses a shield and the new mechanics from the last game.

This would definitely be an interesting matchup, and it makes a lot more sense than the Chief fight, which relies on "two super soldiers with cool computers."

The whole 11D+ arguments are kinda shaky on their application for a fight, but there's also the fact that Chief doesn't have Cortana anymore and hasn't for a while.

And this is something that's pretty vital to his character growth as well, so I don't even know if Chief will get her for the fight. Personally I wouldn't mind it if he did end up getting her, but it'd be a weird composite Chief at that rate.

Like DB has ever cared...And I mean...Halo has an stupidly blatant higher dimensional system.

Episode was really fun, I really liked their interactions in it, and the animation felt solid to me. Also loved how Mahito dying like a *****.

Not a fan of how they scaled Mahito's stats, but it's my only gripe with the analysis, everything else was well done.

Very solid episode, 8/10.

Next mu, I'm just not a fan. It's not even an Omni-Lander because people actually like Master Chief.

Not only that, but I'm really curious to see how they're even gonna make this look not ridiculously stomp-ish because they'd have to massively wank Chief and downplay Doomguy just to do so.

Cause Doomguy doesn't even need cosmic scaling just to massacre Chief. It's that bad. It's like putting a herald Tier character against a street Tier character.

Again there fighting styles don't go well together
One fights like an anime characters with combos vs a dude who's shots and punch shit

This guy hasn't seen crash mauler
Who
I still wish Mewtwo VS Shadow 2 won the rematch poll. I don't mind Doomguy vs Chief, but I feel like Mewtwo VS Shadow has more potential as a mu could get more from a modern run-back.
The MU can still given the crew like Shadow vs Mewtwo 2 rematch on the cast
