I just thought he got pulverized to the absolute level rather than erased

Eh… honestly I disagree. If this is how they’re gonna handle the “unique matchups” then maybe they should just stick to what they know. How many times will we have to get our hopes up only to be disappointed again?
Can't say I agree they handled this decently well
This wasn't something like Machoaids so I can't see why they be better spamming capeshit
So what I'm reading is I'm the only one who thought the fight was really well executed with positives that far exceeded the negatives. Cool!
Uh no most of us are positive just wished the final bow was better

Be more exact... The several-minute fight itself is good (except the finishing blow and the short "aftermath").

What flopped is the research and verdict (and research affected verdict).

Super casuals may love it or not. Some more serious casual followers may just be pleased more new verses are coming and not be overwhelmed by Marvel and DC and Marvel vs DC (to the point they embrace Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Archie Comics, IDW and Boom Comics). Yes anime. Yes more Japan ACGN that actually gets/got popular in Japan (maybe even French or Korean or Taiwanese or Hongkonger or Thai or Filipino or Malay or other countries)
VS debaters are the ones truly pissed off - cosmology ignorance and powerscaling negligence leading to their verdict vastly different from (if not wrong against) what verdicts other VS debaters like G1 bloggers reach.
So sadly yes this IS something like Machoaids. Maybe not in views but it suffers similar (if not worse) weaknesses.
And I am making my view as neutral yet specific as possible.

Hope they do not flop next time.

Uh no most vs debaters are pretty much satisfied with outcome

G1 considered it a toss-up, its not like they all agreed on the verdict, most people and prediction/reaction people will be satifisied
G1 considers this as a tossup sure.
Just the "very different" views on the cosmologies...
Casuals and novice debaters are just happy
(1) new verses are brought in
(2) "the preferred character won" TM
(3) at least the crew marginally does not downplay Wukong and gave Wukong a win so fans who accuse Death Battle for downplaying Eastern ACGN works can shut up, aka no "emotional backlash", happy one "version" of Goku finally beat one "version" of Superman (that they "only" downplay Herc and arguably Hercules is a Greek literature product and is still quite East - not so East as India and China sure)

May be it is just me or Cal - I am very excited, surprised and pleased at what Herc is shown to be capable of actually doing by the G1 blog, just to be disappointed by how Death Battle portrays otherwise.

Sun Wukong (Journey to the West) is born out from a rock.

You can see that they are satisfied in the result too. It is not a bad thing.

The connection is that Bardock is Son Goku's biological father and Sun Wukong is Son Goku's meta "father".

Thoughts of a Godzilla Battle Royale?, personally that is the only good returning Godzilla MU and could be a really fun one
Destroyah vs Iris sounds really cool as a Godzilla MU.
Damn, the infinite universe interpretations meant their strength was equal, and the lack of god scaling made this literally impossible for Herc with how wide the speed gap is. Worst of all, they even left stuff out in Sun's analysis, so it was probably an even bigger stomp in their eyes than the episode depicted.
Yeah, I noticed a LOT of Wukong's abilities never got mentioned, I imagine they would've thought things were even more unfair if they included it. Seems like they didn't buy the Herc God scaling either, which essentially doomed him going into this fight, since that gave him the stats he needed to truly challenge Wukong.

I never thought I'd see the phrase "infinite" get used on Death Battle again, especially not infinite uni lol, I especially didn't expect BOTH of them to get it, that threw me off hard.

If they mentioned Infinite Uni here.... Does that mean... Touhou has a chance.... @Mad_Dog_of_Fujiwara

Short answer: no lol Long answer: no lmao

its time they update the top 20 must see DB episodes playlist get rid of Sonic vs Mario 2, Wally vs Sonic ( I don't see it as a must watch), Winter Soldier vs Red Hood, Link vs Cloud 2, Yoda vs Mickey, Genji vs Raiden (why is this even here? its a DBX!), and DeadPool vs Pinkie,

Replace with Omnilander, Herkong, SaitPopeye, GR vs Lobo, Jinxly (for a boost), and a couple of the classic episodes that still hold up, like Buu vs Kirby.

Winter Soldier vs Red Hood can stay because its their current best showing of a live action episode imo. But yeah their current must see list ******* sucks.

I think Wally vs Sonic was pretty fumbled so and Sonic vs Mario 2 ******* sucks so neither should be there either lol.

I think GB vs RF is pretty worthy of being up there too.

People in the People's you-know-where are already mocking that Death Battle downplaying Hercules to a petty tier weaker than some "stage bosses" in JTTW.
(Basically why Wukong needs outside help to defeat a scorpion demon who is not even top tier when he could defeat Hercules one-on-one.)
Death Battle crew reluctance on using power scaling really hurts verses who build on such.

And for whether a Touhou Project character to appear... Possibly the infinite-sized universe concept is used as a time thing for removing the advantage of Hercules against Sun Wukong . As for Touhou Project universe... We still have that Amitabha scaling to use and that should allow Touhou Project to sweep a lot of battles unless against some other conceptual creator gods or any 4D 5D infinite D beings.
So excited...
He who gets swallowed by Sarlacc vs he who gets hunted by native Americans and early American armies... must be a very intense battle indeed lmao
Serious - the Legends scaling and the ex-movie material scaling could make Boba Fett vs Predator actually intense and interesting.

TBH they "want variety" and try to include more different media coverings and representations (like some video games some Marvel some DC some neither Marvel nor DC western comics some Shueisha and Kodansha and some others) and Image Comics fights, very classic cartoons and anime, actually classic literature/mythology fights...
... but forget that they have only 2 live action episodes and that Winter Soldier vs Red Hood is actually well-made.

I dont even think there was any downplay, Herc just didn't get any God Scaling. But Wukong also didn't get any scaling. They basically just used direct feats for both of the characters and based on what Wukong has without scaling, I'm pretty sure he does sweep Herc pretty easily. Hell, they left out a lot of Wukong's abilities as well. I'm sure scaling could have made it closer / given Herc more of a boon, but they also might have just seen the scaling as weird / unreliable.

Yeah, I don't expect Infinite Uni for 2hu unfortunately, I also really doubt they'd use Amitabha scaling, WHICH THEY REALLY SHOULD since its the realistic absolute minimum you can use for Touhou Uni sizes, as everything else that's reliable is well beyond Amitabha's scale.

:Marisad:

Anyways based on the stats they gave each character it looks like they unironically roll 98% of DB contestants. Only ones that contest really are like the Flashes, SW & Zatanna, and Archie Sonic I think (using purely DBs own stats).
The first thing which comes into my mind is Dragon Ball's multipliers. It seems that Goku will be weaker than Sun Wukong in term of strength.

ok so you hold G1 blog in high regard then?

ok cool, give me my 146 Quardillion FTL Star Butterfly and Solar System level Steven, Multiversal(3millionxuniversal) Hulk then

also chill with the conspiracies.

DB, G1, and all other VS communities can come up with their own verdicts and decisions, stats, what to give, what to disregard. VS is all subjective.

Anyways, everyone's dropping their opinions on HercKong, so here's mine:

I really enjoyed it! I was actually really into the analysis for once, which isn't very often! It might just be because I think both these mythologies and characters are awesome, so hearing more about them is just inherently fun for me, but hearing how they went over them was just fun in general. They seem to have stuck largely to using the character's direct feats for this fight, which is fine, it definitely wipes most of Herc's possible wincons though.

The battle was pretty enjoyable, it's aesthetics were really good, I loved the effect of a scroll rolling out further to give more view to more of the the arena, as well as the paintbrush strokes added to several movements and attacks for extra emphasis. It had a very unique aesthetic that not many DBs have, and I appreciated the extra effort there. In terms of the fight itself, there were fun moments in there, Wukong got to use a decent handful of his abilities (nowhere near all of them, but that's nearly impossible to do considering the sheer volume of abilities Wukong has, you'd need a much longer animation for that), Herc got some fun moments and lines, when they did banter it was cute, I liked how they interpreted Wukong's personality.

In terms of drawbacks, it didn't go as crazy as I expected them to? With the ridiculous numbers and stats both had, I was kinda hoping they'd do more insane shit. It's nowhere near as crippling of a drawback here as it is in something like say, Wally vs Sonic is for me though. I didn't expect their godly forms to show up in the fight at all, and while the buildup is really cool with both of them drawing their attacks back and the tension build, the final killing strike was relatively unimpressive. I would've liked for the fight to be a bit longer and a bit crazier, but as is, I'm pretty happy with what we got. Probably a solid 8.5 for me. It's in my top 2-3 for the season.

I'm not sure why everyone's so overwhelmingly negative towards this one, I think it's just an issue of all of us expecting a 10/10 episode, but instead getting an 8/10ish ep.

As for next time:

I have no personal stake or interest in this MU. I'd love to see Boba Fett jobb and lose for a 3rd time but from what everyone says apparently he takes this unfortunately. Predator is cool though from my knowledge of him so it'll be nice to learn about him some. This battle could be really cool if live action. This does mean that the mid-season finale spot isn't taken by it, meaning that we could officially get anything as a mid season finale. I'm placing my bets on Gru vs Megamind though, and if so I hope that fight is ******* awesome, that's such a fun MU.

yeah, real talk: the only people I can see getting mad about this fight is probably some person who hasn’t seen anything Chinese mythology related or some 4chin turbo virgin
I checked the 4Chan thread for DB to see if the streamable link for the fight had been posted so I could re-watch it to better re-evaluate my thoughts on the ep (I watch in a day early in a groupwatch stream from a friend who does have RT, for anyone wondering), but the link had already been removed from mods, so I mindlessly scrolled to see what people were saying and yeah, the 4Chan turbo virgins were losing their minds. Their seething and copes are ******* hilarious though, I love watching their arguments they're so funny. The way they talk to each other is so.... divorced from how anybody else in the world speaks.

2. Did they think Herc should win by G1 verdict? (Or, how many are smart enough to do so?)

Not taking everything from G1 as a bible but at least I would have "formulated" my arguments for a character.

Hope that be done at least in 3D.
Live action is great in idea. But I have issues in how to do the makeup for the Predator. Oh for the live action to look nice they need at bare minimum two muscular guys - one macho for Boba and one macho-er macho for the Predator.

Maybe the reason why the episode is not visually insane is because Sun Wukong is the type of "Strong in paper, not so strong visually" type. For example, there are people who would only see that "Sun Wukong's just carry mountains" and only the context says the "mountain" are infinite universes. It is more of a limitation of imagination, and even TTGL-level visual effect may not enough to demonstrate their true strength.

It's a back in forth, a lot of people are predictably losing their minds but there's not really much in terms of good arguments there, just a lot of slurs and incredible amounts of racism. Some are complaining about no God scaling though.

I have seen "zanshi is unreliable" argument again somewhere. It is like "agreeing with Sun Wukong W, disagreeing with Sun Wukong's scaling"
According to VS Battles Wiki profile, Boba wins this and the only threat for Boba is the self-destruction

Its incredible how many there went 100% racist mode. They literally started calling Lousy, the DB researcher, as Louxi

like bruuuuuuh holy shit
Naming a researcher after a super powerful spirit energy sage seem more an applause than an insult.

According to VS Battles Wiki profile, Boba wins this and the only threat for Boba is the self-destruction
Given how Boba Fett has survived and defeated Sarlacc and escaped from it, he is fine just fly away from the self-destruction - okay how does the self-destruction even work? Maybe he could just defuse it some way.

I would laugh really hard if Boba Fett (during the fight) escaped from the self-destruction just to be swallowed by a Sarlacc - which actually shielded the nuke - and cut the head off from the inside to get out after the aftermath.

Boba Fett vs Predator IS mid-season finale. Accept it.

At last! It's taken me 9 months to...

And yes, there will be VS references. In fact, the scaling in this series is sort of a complementary to the series main problems, as noted here:

disagree on Omnilander its not that good really and far from being Must Watch Fight but in terms replacing whats there i agree
I feel like Yoda vs Mickey deserves it more then GR vs lobo
eh i say its subjective i think its good but nothing special
