Everybody Wants to Die 3: Fun Guy Edition (Game Thread)

I drop my shotgun once the vines come out, an alternative version of myself throwing a grenade launcher to me before leaving.

The thing's speech doesn't make me calm me. It actually fills me anger. So much anger i felt like my veins were about to burst.

"What the **** are you talking about!? Innocent people dying is fate!? Why!?"

I point the grenade launcher at them.

"I want answers, now."

A look of horror gradually comes over Corrin's face as she reads. "This blight... it's like in my world..." She shakes her head. No... it has to be a coincidence. Similar symptoms and appearance, that's all.

It...worked(?!)”

“QUICK! WHILE THE BEASTS LAY DISTRACTED! RUSH THEIR SKULLS INTO THE SILT! RIP THEIR MAWS FROM THEIR HEADS AND GLIDE IT TO THEIR THROATS. WE DIE TEARING THEM PIECE BY PIECE AS THEY GNAW UPON OUR YOLK.”

“No...I won’t do that! These beings, they’re happy! I’ve never been surrounded by something that doesn’t want to kill me. Something that I actually made smile. It’s been so long since I’ve felt someone accept me...if only just a little. It makes me happy,for someone to know that I exist rather than just being another head to pluck.

“I-”

“Just shut up for once. Going to double down on the communication”

More illusions of luster and wonder spreads from Ernest’s shell. Colorful hares with antlers hopped and rubbed around the feet of the those who bear witnesses. Flowers wrapped the surrounding trees, and fireflies flew around the air. Joy coiled the atmosphere as even Ernest himself got carried away in its flow. An illusion of two arms spawned from his back, placing threaded strings upon his sword. Stringing the guitar, he played a tune:

Rhythms strung by the guitar were echoing throughout the landscape.It was more than a song, it was a beacon. Powered by Ernest’s sliver of hope that something good would come to him.At a tolerable noise level,of course.

His body gave an aura of innocence. Pouring out a supernatural purity that made those affected more comforted by his presence.

"It seems Aya has gotten rather important information."

El stated, speaking up.

"We will aid you in discovering more where possible, however what is worth noting is that we are not the first wave of powered individuals. The appearance of a dozen others in two separate places occurred some time after this fungal infection sprung up. It appears they have gone into hiding thus far. I cannot say if this... show will draw any here, however it feels unlikely."

She said, summarizing her information.

@Hl3_or_bust

"I see. I suppose I should tell my end of how I got here, then. I was taken from another world, my original one, to here. My very essence seems to have been reshaped in the process, my abilities changed. Power like that of mine was commonplace in my world, and this world seems very different in a multitude of ways."

Aya said, briefly explaining.

"If you have any questions, you are free to ask, but now on to mine. What information do you have on these other beings that appeared before us? Of the nature of their abilities, their actions and so on?"

@Paul_Frank

"I see, so that is how you were made. Fascinating. You are certainly very different to ours, who were a type of being in their own right, but made of their own will and not shaped by the wills of others like that. That said, the Seraphim of our world were also far more powerful than anything this world has at the moment, but then so were many of the demons."

Ewald said, keeping up the conversation.

"In any case, I believe it may be better for important information to be exchanged with the one known as Serafall in person, so perhaps a meeting could be arranged between her and my lady's envoy?"

@Hl3_or_bust
"My name is Giju Tsu, I am an android. Or as one might put it, a robot. I mean no harm, simply curious on what has happened here." She states, raising her arms to signify that she doesn't come to combat them.

@The_Divine_Phoenix

"I believe she is busy, as your lady must be if she'd only send an envoy."

@Hl3_or_bust

"Fifteen or so left, and they haven't been seen much recently hmm."

"Thank you for the information, I'll be having a conversation with your mayor now, tata." She says, transforming into countless particles of light and quickly reappearing infront of the mayor and his escorts

"Now, before you lot attack me, I just wanted to ask a few questions so I can finish getting the picture of what's going on in this world."

@ZephyrosOmega

"She seems to be inquiring about that right now. Six of them in total have been killed so far it seems, but many yet remain. But she was told they are in hiding, so it is likely we will have to search for ourselves."

El explained.

@Paul_Frank

"Ah, well, we can wait. As for our lady, that is not really why, although she certainly is working in her palace. It is rather that she is, hmm, let us say... not quite used to interacting with new people in person very often. I cannot speak for her in full, but she tends to be rather embarrassed when seen directly, which is part of why she stays in her palace so much."

Ewald explained to the angel.

"That is something I wanted to ask about. Who is your 'master', as it were? I saw somebody appear briefly before replacing herself with Aya."

@The_Divine_Phoenix

"So she lacks in courage then." He scoffs

"Our master should be finishing up soon, perhaps a meeting is possible, although I'm not sure how fruitful it will be. As I said, she's rather different than us."

Sipping the sweet latte, I ask a random stranger about what happen here, in French.

“Excuse me, do you know what happened recently. Seems to me that there is an apocalypse going on?” (In French)

@Paul_Frank

"Oh no, she has plenty of that in all sorts of situations. She has no trouble facing life or death situations if she must, it's more a deal of a specific oddity about her."

The butler explained.

"And very well. Our lady is quite different to us as well, so who knows."

@ZephyrosOmega

"She hasn't truly appeared in this world yet, only being carried with us all and then awakening in her palace. I don't know what exactly to tell you about her. Aya's her method of directly interacting with the world at the moment, as she prefers to remain there for now and work on things in there. The things Aya has told you would probably be an example of what she is like."

"I see..."

Corrin continues her research. Though ,the whole time, her inner draconic urges are starting to... catch up with her, so to speak.

"...I can do both."

Despite Alexander's advice, Corrin once again utilized her Replication skill, manifesting her red-colored duplicate. Said duplicate left the building quickly, manifesting her mount and flying south. One billion were dead, but according to her searches, six billion still remained. Crisis or not, this would still prove to be a fruitful journey to see for herself how the governments of these worlds functioned...

Because by Bahamut and Inari, what she was seeing online wasn't easing her fears.

And so, she flew west like a comet, heading towards the most populous country in the world to witness it for herself: China.

@Lou_change

[assuming you're searching the city]

Sam doesn't find many remains, and the few she does are unrecognizable, either due to rot or being crushed into pulp by collapsed buildings.

@Junkoposter

Merlene eventually finds the source of the glow: metal sheets covering the bare stone and glowing under the heat of the air. This seems to be some kind of ventilation exhaust.

@Oliver_de_jesus

"Not so much that, but we'll get there."

The older man leads Noah to the bow of the ship, where a small metal table with a few seats has been set up. He takes one and motions for Noah to do so as well.

"So, I imagine you have... a lot of questions, to put it lightly?"

@CrimsonStarFallen

A low groaning can be heard coming from the thing's body.

"You humans... you kill trillions by the day, ravage the land and poison the oceans! Yet you cry like children when your actions have consequences! No one is innocent, not even this vessel! Your paths lead to nothing but your own death, by your own hands!"

The thing's upper body blurs in motion, swinging its now thorn-covered club even faster than before, so much so that by the time Matricardo can see it, it's already nearly touching his face.

@ThisThingisReallyBroken

The men are... even more confused. They make an effort to avoid the hares, seemingly as a precaution, and are talking amongst each quite a bit.

@The_Divine_Phoenix

The man listens to Aya's explanation of her appearance here, nodding as he does so.

"On the topic of the others, I think the technical term is violent sociopaths. They had no care for human life, and some outright opposed it directly. I don't remember much of their... specific capabilities, but they could all move at speeds reaching the thousands of meters per second, and were immune to most conventional weaponry we tried to use on them.

"Back to you now: are there others that appeared alongside you?"

@Listentomyrhytm

This does not appear to calm the men much, who continue to back away slowly.

"D-do you have any way to ensure us of that?!"

the man at the front asks again.

@Paul_Frank

Seemingly independent of Serafall's speech, the men are obviously startled by her sudden appearance and accidentally discharge most of their weapons, either into themselves or each other. None seem to be immediately killed, but the mayor can be seen trying to crawl away, having been shot in the leg.

@Andykhang

ILEK ends up asking a well-to-do-looking man, who gives her a strange look before taking a seat across from her.

"You sound like you're from the boonies, where not much really happened. Ah well, ask away."

@ZephyrosOmega

@Oliver_de_jesus

"Not so much that, but we'll get there."

The older man leads Noah to the bow of the ship, where a small metal table with a few seats has been set up. He takes one and motions for Noah to do so as well.

"So, I imagine you have... a lot of questions, to put it lightly?"
"Well yeah" he sat .

"When did this infection start?"

The club smacks my head so hard it's sent flying out of my body, before regrowing back. My body instintively shoots the grenade launcher, which explode with the force of a 8 tonner bomb.

I give many steps back and look hard at the thing.

"Are you... a nature spirit?"

"This could be a good sign of every body was destroyed as a side effect of their actions effective but not good enough to ruin my plans. You two should be safe to go get some food." I say pointing to where I recall central park was in my world before burning the dead bodies. "You don't deserve this fungus but I will make sure all life thrive once I am certain none of you mess it up."

@Hl3_or_bust

"You might need some medical attention, well, while we wait for others to investigate the noise and get you some help, I was hoping you could tell me what you know about the other powered individuals that have caused trouble in this world. I was hoping to find them, but I was told they've been in hiding essentially, do you have any leads or information?"

Serafall asks, remaining calm in order to hopefully calm the others, as she was still emitting the light from earlier, though she expected the fact they had bullets in them to make that harder

@The_Divine_Phoenix

"So she's specifically afraid of showing herself, and that's it?"

The woman decides to leave the cellar, using the best senses in nature to learn more about her surroundings.

Meanwhile Elfen had gone back to messing around with their powers of altering reality. They had created what was most likely a one-time wonder, the woman, who possessed many of the best attributes of life on earth, defying logic with her physiology. Elfen had named her Vie. But the fact that they would likely never again create such a being, didn't stop them from experimenting further.

The men are... even more confused. They make an effort to avoid the hares, seemingly as a precaution, and are talking amongst each quite a bit.
“STOP DRUMMING THOSE STRINGS DAMMIT! They aren’t enjoying it. You aren’t making them happy, they have the looks of confusion not joy! Why do you keep deluding yourself that people would ever want you other than for the amount of gold your head would weigh in?! You’ll never make anyone happy...YOU SHOULD’VE KNOWN BETTER!

“Yeah...you’re right.”

The illusions,music, and joy come to a halt. With his head hung low,and his shoulders slumped he sheathes the sword beside the waist. Casting an illusory barrier upon his figure,he seemingly disappears to those affected. He walks away,the patters of his boots soundless.

“Least they don’t want to kill me.”

“I can feel them watching us! They know we have turned our backs!”

“No...that’s not true.It can’t be..but I did see a pillar of light while we were talking to those creatures. Must’ve been a beacon,a flare! Someone must be as lost as we are...”

“And you think they would open their arms out and welcome you? No! It’s another lure! Opening its hue covered jaws and waiting for you to walk right into its tongue!”

“....”

“???”

Let’s hope not.”

Raising his blade once again,Ernest shoots out another pillar of light away from the park. A response to the other message away from it. While the light wasn’t as visible as the previous incarnation,those with good eyesight or within the eastern hemisphere should’ve been able to witness it.

“WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?!”

"... I am not... entirely sure... But I suppose one thing could be... helping..."

“Yeah, I am far from home right now, so there’s a lot of thing I don’t know...So what's happen, in general?” I ask (in French)

@Hl3_or_bust

"There are. I don't know what all of them are doing right now, but some are trying to find out what happened and to help just like I was. I haven't seen anyone like the ones you described as of yet."

She casually explained.

"Do you know anything about where the ones that showed up before us might be now? Any suspected places?"

@Paul_Frank

"Embarrassed, more like, rather than afraid. She is an odd one to be sure, though I suppose traits like that make her closer to mortals than many of her rank were."

@ZephyrosOmega

"Is there some particular reason you wished to know more about her?"

El inquired.

@Phoenix

"A mysterious woman who neglects to make herself known to those within the same plight as her, hiding within another realm while she uses avatars and minions with the same ease as one controlling chess pieces. Certainly you can connect the dots as to why that may warrant knowledge about her."

"As of the moment, it seems to be exploring this lake."

Nika looks at the black substance for a moment before turning back.

"Well, the question is what is the best manner to explore it?" I ask aloud as all the tools that would go into research in my previous world aren't in my possession.

"I believe our stick-figured friend has already managed to reach the bottom of it. Thrasher, have you swam in this water before?"

After burning the bodies, Sam tries to find a hospital and make a beacon to bait whatever destroy this place or find others.

@Oliver_de_jesus

The man scratches his chin, thinking.

"Depends on who ya ask. Media types will say... August 24th, I think. But we don't actually know who the first people were, or exactly where they were, so not knowing when is kind of agiven. The 24th is just when it became an immediate issue in the Philippines."

@CrimsonStarFallen

Once the smoke clears, the thing gives Matricardo an odd face, as though simultaneously very confused and trying to keep the appearance of being very mad, having its left hip blown open, with more vines emerging from it and wrapping around the area.

"... to some extent, although it's more the other way around: I am the spirit of this nature itself, fueled by the atrocities committed against it!"

The low trembling of an oncoming storm can be felt from all around.

"However, there are... much more vile actions being undertaken at this very moment, and it is not as though you alone could save anyone."

With that, the thing quickly turns and begins moving roughly north-east, not running, but more gliding along the ground itself.

@Paul_Frank

Serafall's light, predictably, has little effect, as the majority of the guards still capable of some movement, meaning not instantly incapacitated from shock, yell and crawl away. She can hear a great number of footsteps approaching her from several directions.

@ZephyrosOmega

Having been heading towards the capital, seeing more or less untouched landscapes and even settlements along the way, Beijing is a no-mans-land. While seemingly far from any coastlines, with a distinct lack of the type of damage seen in Nuuk being clear, the area is a scorched wasteland battered by unnaturally continuous lightning strikes and sulfurous fires. There isn't even anything that can be identified as an actual building and not just non-specific concrete rubble.

@WHYNAUT

Vie is instantly flooded with an immense wealth of information, most inconsequential. The place she's below is a rather populated metropolitan area, with a few tends of thousands in her local square kilometer alone. Most of them are rather paranoid, the rest not really giving much mind to whatever the issue is or being physically incapable of processing it, in the case of children. Several larger sounds can be felt moving by, specifically cars, although most are somewhat run-down and dirty.

@Listentomyrhytm

The leading man, even more flustered than before, prepares to say something... but simply stops after the first sound, as though suddenly realizing something.

"So you're with Reaver?"

He asks in a considerably more calm tone.

@ThisThingisReallyBroken

[what beam of light are you talking about]

@Andykhang

The man tugs at his sleeves for a second before starting.

"Well, uh... I think a few months back, in August, some weird fungal infection spread around Japan really quickly, and went from there. Most places got it to some extent, seemingly from people coming from Japan, but eventually cases started happening everywhere independent of that, apparently from contaminated sea and drinking ater. I don't know exactly what it does, and it's probably not particularly pleasant. The UN's been putting up these pretty expensive water treatment systems in most cities to make the water drinkable."

He takes a sip from a water bottle he had with him.

"I swear, the tap tastes better these days."

He nervously chuckles.

@The_Divine_Phoenix

The man visibly tenses at Aya's response.

"That's really ******* bad, pardoning my language. There've been sudden reports of unusual individuals across the world in the last few hours, none matching the ones we dealt with before."

He clears his throat before answering Aya's question.

"Other than last-known locations, not at all. Considering their capabilities and the fact that most are about human-sized, actually tracking them would be functionally impossible, even disregarding their outright scientifically impossible capabilities. Back on the topic of the rest of your group, did any of them appear outright malicious?"

@Lou_change

About three kilometers inland, Sam finds a rather well-preserved back half of what was once a large hospital.

@lake gang

[I feel the need to note that the black material is floating on top of the water and the lake is clearly less than fifteen meters deep at most, just in case no one actually read my previous posts]

"I have no idea why I'm doing this, but I'm going to burn the lake away." Says Alfred, conjuring a blast of explosive fire onto the lake, to dry it up.
